To be a bit peed off with dh disappearing upstairs all the time?

To read his book. Dd has just come in from a friends, she's in for 2 mins and he's off upstairs to read his book. This is happening more and more often, as if he's trying to escape from us.

He spent about 3 hours up there yesterday.

YANBU! Send dd up to disturb him / go and have a bath and tell the evening routine is his job today. Lazy sod!

00100001 · 02/11/2015 20:26

is he reading a book or "reading a book"?

00100001 · 02/11/2015 20:27

ask him lots of questions about the book

WitchWay · 02/11/2015 20:29

Mine spends most of his time at home sitting on the toilet with his trousers and pants off Confused, laptop plugged in under the door, looking at car stuff and porn I expect It's comfortable, apparently. Literally hours spent sitting on the fucking loo Angry

LizzieMacQueen · 02/11/2015 20:29

He is organising your Christmas present I bet.

dementedma · 02/11/2015 20:30

Mine just watches football. Endlessly. Any game. Any time

Orangeanddemons · 02/11/2015 20:31

WitchwayShock. He's definitely reading, cos I go and check. But it's like hex just opting out, and it makes me and dd feel excluded. She's always saying Daddy doesn't want to sit with her, but he won't take it seriously.

lizzie in november??

naaah.

MildVirago · 02/11/2015 20:31

Witch, I'm assuming he must have some fabulous other qualities, or he'd be single within a week...? Is there something wrong with his bowels? Wouldn't sitting on the loo for hours be likely to give you piles???

00100001 · 02/11/2015 20:32

does DD say this to him?

WitchWay · 02/11/2015 20:32

Bloody annoying. I expect they want some time to themselves after a busy day but not all the bloody time

Orangeanddemons · 02/11/2015 20:33

Yes, she says it to him, but he just laughs and doesn't take it seriuosly.

TendonQueen · 02/11/2015 20:33

Get in first. Tomorrow say 'I'm going to go upstairs and read my book for a bit' and watch his face.

Orangeanddemons · 02/11/2015 20:34

But he'd just come upstairs as well

Yes tendon - what's good for the goose is good for the gander

WitchWay · 02/11/2015 20:35

Virago sadly few redeeming features - I'm currently formulating a cunning plan...

Funnily enough he has a sore arsehole quite often, no piles though. If he tidied his office he could shit sit in there. Uses the en-suite too which is my favourite toilet as it has the only bidet Angry

Orangeanddemons · 02/11/2015 20:36

I'd put something in the bog to bite his bum if I were you!

icouldjusteatacroissant · 02/11/2015 20:39

Mine does the same, its either the toilet, the garage or the shed.

Send dd up so he can babysit whilst reading, mine keeps telling me men can multitask just as well as women.

Orangeanddemons · 02/11/2015 20:40

I think I'll send dd up. That's good thinking!

tsumtsum · 02/11/2015 20:40

Go out and leave DD at home with DH.

LeaveMyWingsBehindMe · 02/11/2015 20:40

Depends. What's the book? It might be a really good book. Grin

ImperialBlether · 02/11/2015 20:42

What's he reading? It sounds good!

icouldjusteatacroissant · 02/11/2015 20:42

Oh and Witch, mine does the same in the loo with his iPad, he can spend at least half an hour a time, a few times a day in there.

Shakey15000 · 02/11/2015 20:47

Ye Gads yes, plan some time away from home and leave him to it. What a kop out.

BeaufortBelle · 02/11/2015 20:47

Oh, I take no notice. DH loves a morning on the bed with a book. I go out shopping, have a coffee, do something for me and swan back in and just say "have you had a nice morning on the bed; what are you going to do this afternoon?" "There are lots of jobs to be done or you can go to work" Wink. One day your dd will be a teenager and you will be able to get your own back Smile. There are plenty of worse things he could be doing.
