There is to be an appeal tomorrow, at Bristol Crown Court, regarding the decision to send violent criminal Tara Hudson, who works as a transsexual prostitute (still has a penis, as 80% of transsexuals do), to male prison. Tara wants to go to a female prison.

AIBU to think that if you have a penis, you should go to male prison?

People are arguing that Tara is at risk of sexual assault, but Tara is not unique in this - lots of (non transgender) men are vulnerable, and the prison service has a responsibility to protect them.

Well I got a reply from my MP

Thank you for your email on the decision to move Tara Hudson to a women's prison.

I do think this is quite a complicated issue as there does need to be due consideration given for the safety of the individual in custody but likewise the others in the facility.

As you have said the prison service make decisions on this issue and so it is at their discretion to look at the individual circumstances of each person. This decision is based on a number of factors. Guidelines on this issue state that prisoners should be placed according to their gender "as recognised by UK law" - usually as stated on their birth certificate

However, it is recognised that a transgender person may be sufficiently advanced in the gender reassignment process that they could be placed in the estate of their acquired gender (in this instance female), even if the law does not yet recognise they are of their acquired gender, for example, as on their birth certificate.

To my understanding Ms. Hudson has lived all of her adult life as a female and so I imagine the latter aspect was taken into account when the prison service made this decision. Additionally, decisions relating to the location of transgender prisoners are made via a process engaging people including psychologists, healthcare professionals and prison staff.

I do not believe by any reasonable definition this bears any resemblance to living as a female. But what do I know. I should probably go back to school to relearn what 'living as a female' means.

Of course he has. Because he's done the bare minimum in his reply to you. To be honest he'd probably make a similar reply to a BMP supporter. Unfortunately our perfectly reasonable view is being seen as bigotry, by people who haven't given it more than two minutes thought.

Imustgodowntotheseaagain I don't think it's an accident that the trans women I know who are deeply gender-critical, and who stick their necks out really far in their championing of women's right to their own spaces (and who get a ton of shit for it from the extreme trans activists), are also often the ones who are either transitioned fully, or on the road to it.

It's the ones who keep their male bodies (and increasingly their male names, their male presentation and every scrap of male privilege they ever accumulated) who are often all I'M MORE OF A WOMAN THAN YOU, YOU BIGOT about being "trans".

The Mail seems more interested in the size of her breasts than her penis. Interesting that the minister's quote is almost identical to the reply a PP recieved from her MP.

I'm still waiting for my reply from my MP,me replied initially to say he would look into this for me but nothing since.

I responded to my MP's mealy mouthed reply, asking if he could clarify how making a living penetrating men with her 7 inch penis and head butting barmen constitutes 'living as a women'. He did reply again but it was a tad tetchy.

I think a pp referred to the lack of mention of TH penis and it went along the lines of men who have sex with transsexuals like to buy into the image of them having sex with 'women'.
