To ask if anyone else has unexplained "physic" moments

I can't explain how this happens but my DH will often start singing a song that I've just suddenly thought of in my head. It's often a very obscure type song, definitely not one he's heard recently. It happens immediately after I've thought it. This has also happened with others but much more often with DH. It's like he's picking up my thoughts, itms. Anyone else get similar type things?

Not psychic exactly but do get strange mental "visitations" during light sleep phases - strange (as in not recognisable to me) people appear to me very clearly, rushing right up to my face in my "dream". They are never anybody I know or have ever met, but I instinctively know their name, and will get some kind of sensation as to something that happened to them - flashes of very specific car crashes (road layout, car type etc), drowning, hanging etc. Some are very insistent and reappear many times until I acknowledge them...some flash by only briefly, others will play out an entire scene. They never speak.

I wish I could draw faces, I wonder if anyone would recognise them.

I suspect its just "creative dreaming". I'm not a particularly spiritual person, but I'm a healthy sceptic...

S00TY · 20/10/2015 23:33

Showofhands, just wondering, my gran was similar to you. Very intuitive. I always wondered if its only face to face or if you can do it from a photo?

Fitzers · 20/10/2015 23:39

Not me but my son, so far on two occasions. Once when he was three we were sitting at the kitchen table when he pipes up out of nowhere 'bye, bye, brother'. He was an only child at the time and I had just had a very early miscarriage, which we had never discussed in his earshot of that I am sure. I'm not a bit of a believer in such things as psychic ability but that one really shook me a bit.

Then just a few months ago (he's four now) we were staying in a holiday let apartment over a shop in my husbands home village (in laws had other guests so no room for us). He wandered into us in the morning and started telling us about a big fire in the roof. I assumed it was a dream until later that day in the laws when my father in law asked us how the stay was going and I said it was great and the place was very comfortable and new. He said yes they'd done a great job since the fire repairing and fixing it up. He explained that the space over the shop had previously, before being turned into apartments, been used as storage for the shop and some electrical equipment had gone on fire and got up into the roof.

I still don't really believe in psychic ability. My son is otherwise a very normal, average kid!

mellowheart · 20/10/2015 23:41

In dreams we're telepathic aren't we, as in we don't actually speak but we can converse, so maybe it's not that surprising that we get some telepathy when we are awake.

There's was a show where a guy did a magic trick where he'll have a person walk down the street and as they do, they'll have a person skateboarding by with a brick wall in the background along the side walk they're walking. Then they'll have a red car parked that they walk past.

They get to a museum and say that a painter will paint what he's thinking about. The picture is pre-done. But they tell him to think of a childhood nursery rhyme character, what he's doing and what color he's wearing. The participant said something along the lines of humpty dumpty skateboarding wearing something red. They show him the picture and the guy is amazed. They broke down the trick to show how they planted ideas.

If you both live together and are very close, you're both probably picking up on subconscious signals like that. If you're both thinking of the same song, you might have heard it in the back drop or an ad or commercial without realizing it.

I don't believe in anything metaphysical. There's always a logical explanation for just about everything.

Donotknowhownottomind · 21/10/2015 06:04

Not me but my ds who when he was about 3 calmly asked me (we were in the conservatory at the time) who the man in the garden was. No build up or context just asked out of the blue. I couldn't see anyone but ds said he was sitting in a chair and wearing wellies. I wondered whether it was the previous owner of our house who had died before we moved in.

They do say that kids have a stronger psychic ability than we do. At 13 ds is now completely logical and scientific in the way he thinks.

Donotknowhownottomind · 21/10/2015 06:06

(Small kids).

Doraydiego · 21/10/2015 06:49

This is what's known as simple partial seizures. I doubt most on this thread will believe that, because you want to believe you had 'psychic' moments. It just isn't true. The brain is an amazing thing.

sofato5miles · 21/10/2015 07:01

I was once in a pub having Sunday lunch and nipped to the loo. I had sudden anxiety attack and then started burning up. Felt so awful and stripped my top off to put my back against the tiles, as i sat on the floor. After a few minutes i recovered and went back out to join my friends. When we got home, I had a message to call my dad, who told me my grandfather had died.

Nothing else like it (including the anxiety attack) has happened since (19 years).

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 21/10/2015 08:11

Partial seizures? Why on earth would you assume that it's physical when it's far more likely to be psychological? I gave a very rational explanation of confirmation bias early on in the thread.

bumbleymummy · 21/10/2015 08:16

I'm not sure how a partial seizure would have made me able to complete the description of my husband's technical solution to a problem I would have been unable to solve. I'm interested to hear how that would happen if you'd care to explain?

I appreciate that confirmation bias exists. I'm sure there are plenty of times I've finished a sentence incorrectly! This one just stood out because it was not something I would have known about.

WitchWay · 21/10/2015 08:32

Many years ago I was travelling in Australia & hadn't been in contact with my parents in the UK for several weeks. One evening I had an overwhelming feeling that something awful had happened at home, so found a phone box & rang. Turned out Mum had just discovered she had breast cancer, was waiting for surgery the next week & had been worrying about not being able to contact me. She's still fine BTW, some 20 years later!

WitchWay · 21/10/2015 08:36

Regarding partial seizures, certainly they can cause really weird symptoms, but I'd be very surprised if they were as common as is suggested by all the psychic witchy happenings being described here!

WitchWay · 21/10/2015 08:37

Also I'm not sure how one person's partial seizure could involve a completely separate person, as many of these instances do - doesn't make sense to me, & I'm generally a sciency sort of person.

NoseinaBook79 · 21/10/2015 08:39

Holy shit BlueThursday where are you?

fteguu123 · 21/10/2015 08:43

I know there is only 50 50 chance of guessing a baby sex right but I often get overwhelming strong feelings that its a boy and it always is. doesn't even have be someone I know very well. If I don't get a strong feeling then its a girl. Doesn't work when its a fake baby like on a soap

LittleLionMansMummy · 21/10/2015 08:43

Yes. I watched an apple fall from the tree the other day and thought "I wonder what caused that?"

Daffodilliesandaisies · 21/10/2015 08:59

I'm always thinking Im going to ring one of my Sisters and the phone will ring and it will be the one I was going to ring. It's the same with texts, I'll go to write one and she will be typing.

Once I got in my car, started singing a song, turned on the radio and the same song was playing at the exact point I was singing.

Another time I was in the car with my ex, I got a very vivid picture on my mind of a good friend of his who'd recently emigrated. I said out loud he's dead. I told ex and he just laughed at me. A few months later ex got an email from his friends wife saying she had been trying to get in touch with him to tell him his friend had died a few months ago.

NoseinaBook79 · 21/10/2015 09:02

Geez, I hope I'm not having a fake soap baby.

LittleLion I really hope you were joking because I am breaking my ass here Grin

beefthief · 21/10/2015 09:17

None of you is psychic. None of you.

Donotknowhownottomind · 21/10/2015 09:27

Care to elaborate beefthief? What does psychic mean to you?

LittleLionMansMummy · 21/10/2015 09:34

NoseinaBook - well it was either gravity or I've actually turned into Roald Dahl's Matilda! Grin

LittleLionMansMummy · 21/10/2015 09:38

Or Stephen King's Carrie...

popcornpaws · 21/10/2015 11:31

I don't know about psychic, but years ago i woke during the night and for some reason went into the spare room to look outside, i saw 4 boys trying to steal our car outside.
I could see the outline of them and that two of them had caps on, one in the back was banging his hands on the driver seat as if to say hurry up.
I shouted on my DH and he ran downstairs and bolted outside with me following only to be confronted with the car still locked and no one in it!
Oh how i was slagged off about that for all of three weeks until the morning we were going to work and the car was gone.
It was never found either!

SistersOfPercy · 21/10/2015 11:45

I'd seen no build up to the commonwealth ceremony at all so didn't know who was taking part, but the kids had flicked it on the TV. After about 30 seconds I shouted 'Where's Barrowman!? I demand Barrowman' jokingly just as Barrowman appeared from under the giant kilt. Kids just slowly turned and looked at me with WTF faces.
