To march ds to the police station as he's stolen a bag

Ds13 has stolen a 5p bag from the local tesco, I checked the receipt and he hadnt paid for it and it is one of the new thicker ones. He has admitted that he didn't pay for it when using the self service till. Would the police cooperate with giving him a stern telling off if we pop down there?

Are you serious? Hmm

Biscuit
SilentlyScreamingAgain · 11/10/2015 20:26

Don you not have a set of stocks in your village?

EatDessertFirst · 11/10/2015 20:26

Hope this is another spoof carrier bag thread.

catfordbetty · 11/10/2015 20:26

I think that's an over-reaction. Why not take him back to Tesco tomorrow to explain what he's done and pay for the bag?

EternalDalmatian · 11/10/2015 20:27

I'm assuming this is a joke op?

HubertsBirthdayStick · 11/10/2015 20:27
Hmm
Mcdotii · 11/10/2015 20:27

Did no one else as a child experience this? I'm very thankful that my mum took me down there after I took a mini pot of jam from a cafe when I was 8 or 9.

blibblobblub · 11/10/2015 20:28

Seriously?

Senpai · 11/10/2015 20:29

You need to make him go out to the yard and pick his own switch. It's the only way.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 11/10/2015 20:29

Oh ffs how many carrier bag threads do we need Grin

ChinaSorrows · 11/10/2015 20:30

I'm in two minds.

  1. stealing is stealing. Consequences should always be.

  2. it's a carrier bag. Let the store deal with it tomorrow after school. Police will not thank you for a carrier bag

DramaAlpaca · 11/10/2015 20:30

I think the police have better things to do these days, tbh.

titchy · 11/10/2015 20:31

Spoof freds are fine OP but they have to actually be funny you know....Biscuit

roundandroundthehouses · 11/10/2015 20:32

Ach, you'll get used to it. Where I live, the 5p charge was introduced two years ago with very little fuss at all. And now here it is, all over the news and MN Grin

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 11/10/2015 20:33

I was about to come on here and sing your praises about how brave you are. Thinking he had robbed a sweet little old lady of her pension, and you're chatting shit about a sweaty carrier bag. Now I could be wildly wrong but I expect the police have much better things to worry about that a 5p bag.
I know you're supposed to give these when you have no words but with me that never happens, so I am honoured to you give you my first Biscuit.

SeamstressfromTreacleMineRoad · 11/10/2015 20:34

Well, the Tesco by me were giving everyone a free bag this week 'to get you started', so maybe check that this wasn't the case here...?

Well I shall be marching Dh down to the co-op tomorrow. Grin

He's stolen a bag for life!

He says he put it in his basket and the bloke didn't scan it. I reckon the till operator reckoned Dh had brought the bag with him from home. Grin

Mcdotii · 11/10/2015 20:37

I thought about going back to tesco but they are always so busy there and probably won't be interested in helping educate Ds and teaching him a lesson.

Might just make him donate 50p to charity, as people here think I'm unreasonable.

I feel theft is theft, regardless of the value. If he stole a 5p packet of crisps or of he stole a bar of green and blacks for 2 pounds

OP posts:
IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 11/10/2015 20:41

Wait, where are you getting packets of crisps for 5p?!

SladeGreen · 11/10/2015 20:41

Oh for goodness sake, please calm down.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 11/10/2015 20:41

No ynbu in donating money to charity but why didn't you put it like that. Instead of saying about taking him to the police. Bit of a bloody over reaction about a bag isn't it. Do you not think the police have bigger things to worry about. Ie rapes and murders and armed robberies ect. They'd probably laugh you out the station.

EmmaGellerGreen · 11/10/2015 20:43

You have a police station within walking distance open to the public?????
