To march ds to the police station as he's stolen a bag

Ds13 has stolen a 5p bag from the local tesco, I checked the receipt and he hadnt paid for it and it is one of the new thicker ones. He has admitted that he didn't pay for it when using the self service till. Would the police cooperate with giving him a stern telling off if we pop down there?

Please do callthenpolice I look forward to your AIBU thread in the morning about the police threating you with wasting police time.

I dearly hope this is a other non funny spoof.

mumofthemonsters808 · 11/10/2015 20:44

Is this a joke ? the Police would laugh you out the door where I live. Only on Mumsnet do I hear the Police mentioned in relation to such trivial, petty situations. Maybe it's because I live in a large city, where the Police force are on their knees due to the staff cuts and serious crime is increasing and not a Heartbeat type village, with a bobby and something like this is actually serious.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 11/10/2015 20:45

Is this for real? I thought it was a joke but now I'm not so sure...

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 11/10/2015 20:45

This cannot be serious

ghostspirit · 11/10/2015 20:46

so tesco are to busy to deal with it but the police are not... maybe take him police station and see if they have a pop at you for wasteing police time

WannabeLaraCroft · 11/10/2015 20:46

Really?

Like, really really? Hmm

ghostspirit · 11/10/2015 20:46

Fake threads are okay as long as they have character and open up good debates . and of course are not about sensitive triggering matters. Who knows what thread are real or fake anyway.
And none of us are after all , under oath. But surely no one can be that bored to make up a thread about a bag. So I do actually believe this thread is genuine

sugar21 · 11/10/2015 20:55

March the little blighter down to Tesco and ask them to make him stack shelves on the nightshift. Oh dont forget they must make him do drag out. For the lucky people who haven't had the student experience of working a tesco nightshift, drag out is pushing or pulling a very heavy and tall loaded pallette of stock from the warehouse to the appropiate aisle.
This experience should more than repay the cost of the offending 5p bag and also keep him out of said Tesco for life

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 11/10/2015 20:59

If it's one of the 'new thicker ones' surely it's one of the freebies they've given out?

That's if you aren't a greater spotted bridge dweller.

ForTheSakeOfFuck · 11/10/2015 20:59

I would laugh this off but my own darling mother dragged my DB to the police station when he was mine because he "stole" a keyring from an estate agent's. One of those plastic ones they usually give away. Probably worth about the same. If this is serious then what a power-trippy, tyrannical over-reaction.

captaincake · 11/10/2015 21:01

The money goes to charity. Make him give 5p to charity then the result is the same. You are being ridiculous overreacting. I am happy to be corrected but I have been told the police don't do 'telling offs' anymore as they want to seem approachable to teenagers and they should might tell you off for wasting their time.

BinkyandFlip · 11/10/2015 21:05

Tiggy

BEHAVE

LarrytheCucumber · 11/10/2015 21:08

You mean you actually have a Police station where you live OP?

BinkyandFlip · 11/10/2015 21:13

Oh Tiggy's the other one. Je m'excuse

reni2 · 11/10/2015 21:30

Grin go to the police. Do report what they said Grin

CrapBag · 11/10/2015 21:31

Get a fucking grip is my response if this is real.

Bore off is my response if this is fake.

Covers both scenarios.

BinkyandFlip · 11/10/2015 21:33

If course it isn't real FFS

BinkyandFlip · 11/10/2015 21:34

Actually you never know. Sorry if you are real OP. I think you should let it go this time.

Aquarius320 · 11/10/2015 21:39

FFS get a grip

Mcdotii · 11/10/2015 21:59

OK I was being serious, this is the first time he's stolen anything. Maybe these days the police can't help with verybpetty offences, to help educate. I think that's sad.

titchy · 11/10/2015 22:03

No OP, I think you'll find that's a job for parents....

TheoriginalLEM · 11/10/2015 22:06

i stole a handful of 5p bags the other day at the self service bit. in full view if the assistant. we smirked. power to the people is what i say.

don't suppress this early act of political rebellion. He could be the next citizen Smith! < shows age>

CrapBag · 11/10/2015 22:06

It's not a petty offence. It's a total non event. Good god I actually cannot believe this is real! I feel sorry for your son.
