The orchestration is fab, but still not sure about the actual singing. I'm so used to hearing him every 5 bloody minutes on the radio so I'm a bit bored of him tbh.

I think the R1 DJs are contractually obliged to like it. I suspect they are slagging it off whilst it's playing.

Thing is, bond theme tunes no one would ever buy, they're like a genre of their own!

But in that genre, there's good and bad, I wouldn't buy a Shirley bassey record, but diamonds are forever is a proper bond song!

Guns and roses was the best, and yes Madonna's effort was shite.

Sam smith does not have the voice, the song writing ability or the nuts to pull off a bond tune.

That nearly made me choke on my cuppa! I heard it on R2 today. Thought it was bleedin' awful! But I hate male singers who hit the high notes with a squeeeeee.

And Sam Smith gets my goat because he is so bloody miserable and a bit wet.

DH and I heard it in the car on the way to work this morning (ooooh the "world premiere") and we HATED it.

Just because you put some Bond-esque big band orchestration behind you does not mean you have written a Bond song.

Sam Smith sucks anyways. There is not one single song of his I can stand.

I hated the Pierce Brosnan years.

I don't mind SS but had to switch over before the song ended. He doesn't seem to hit the notes right and sounds even more whiny than usual :/ Did love it when Grimshaw asked him if he thought it'd get to number one and he said he didn't think it was a top of the charts kinda song and he didn't mind. More likely it won't get to Number One coz it's pants. Also think they shot themselves in the foot by promoting it so heavily everywhere today.

It's awful falsetto shit!! Really disappointed. The orchestral bit in back ground was good but Sam Smith is rubbish and nowhere near as good as Adele or others that have done Bond themes.

That aside, it has the John Barry soaring strings and brass so at least this song "sounds" like Bond.

The lyrics are okay, but the music is horrible! It sounds like a mash-up between grunge guitar/jazz strings/ and mild rock. A total mess! I hope it doesn't get radio play.
