Brushing teeth in the shower...

Flingingmelon · 14/09/2015 08:41

I'm teaching DS he can brush his teeth in the shower, as my mum taught me. It all goes down the plug hole, the head gets cleaned regularly, no problems.

DH found out and went nuts. He says it's disgusting as disgusting as the bathroom sink after he's brushed his?
In the interests of household harmony I know I need to stop.

But more importantly, who's right?

Blush I do mine in the shower Blush

5madthings · 14/09/2015 08:43

Er my kids somwtimes brush theirs in the shower or the bath, can't see the problem myself.

PeppaPigStinks · 14/09/2015 08:44

I also get the kids to do theirs in the bath!

SlowlyGoingINSAINIA · 14/09/2015 08:46

I would never brush my teeth in the bath or shower. Doesn't it waste water if you're stood in the shower brushing your teeth for 2 minutes? At the sink you just turn the tap off whilst brushing.

coveredinsnot · 14/09/2015 08:47

Why and how is it disgusting?!

00100001 · 14/09/2015 08:48

It sounds grim.

But I can't explain why Confused

INeedNewShoes · 14/09/2015 08:50

I do mine in the shower while waiting for medicated scalp shampoo to do its thing. It's efficient!

Penfold007 · 14/09/2015 08:50

Brushing teeth in the shower is disgusting. I actually shuddered at the thought but and its a huge but, I have no idea why.

Crispbutty · 14/09/2015 08:51

I have to use cold water.. Warm tastes horrible

carabos · 14/09/2015 08:52

I do mine in the shower. Don't understand why it's disgusting?

MrsTedCrilly · 14/09/2015 08:55

How is it disgusting!? Surely it's actually a cleaner way of doing it! I have never thought of this- I'm gonna try it tonight Grin

Mintyy · 14/09/2015 08:56

Yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck.

LoseLooseLucy · 14/09/2015 08:59

Eww no, sounds 'dirty' somehow? Confused

goblinhat · 14/09/2015 08:59

Not for me.
I don't relish the thought of having toothpaste running down my snatch.

Whereyourtreasureis · 14/09/2015 09:00

I do mine in the shower too Blush

antimatter · 14/09/2015 09:01

I too woul'd like to know what's disgusting about it?

Spilose · 14/09/2015 09:01

I don't love the idea of spitting in the shower. I don't see why it's not just as quick and easy to do it by the sink. I do it and air dry while doing so

TwmSionCati · 14/09/2015 09:02

to me it would be a bit yucky, I might get soap in my mouth or something, but hell any toothbrushing is good right?

LumpySpaceCow · 14/09/2015 09:03

I do it! Kills 2 birds with one stone so to speak......never had toothpaste in my snatch either!

TheDowagerCuntess · 14/09/2015 09:04

It's grim and I can't quite out my finger on why. DH does it, and because I can't put my finger on why, I don't have grounds for not tolerating it.

To do with spitting in a public place, I suppose.

patterkiller · 14/09/2015 09:04

I think we all brush ours in the shower in a morning. I do mine while my hair conditioner does its work. I can't see what's yuk. And as for toothpaste running down your snatch, how messy/foamy do you get? Does it run down your clothes while at the sink?

Fannyupcrutch · 14/09/2015 09:07

"I don't relish the thought of having toothpaste running down my snatch"

You would be putting the toothbrush between the wrong set of lips to get that to happen Wink

I brush my teeth in the shower. I lather my hair and then soap my body....brush my teeth while it's all rinsing off. I don't just drool toothpaste all over me, I spit it onto the shower floor and it goes down the drain. It avoids the caked on dried grout that the kids leave on the sink AND its efficient Smile Whats not to love!?

ephemeralfairy · 14/09/2015 09:09

Just wait till you have the weeing in the shower debate... Grin

AmyLouKin · 14/09/2015 09:12

I don't brush mine in the shower but have no problem if people do! Don't see why it's a big deal or why someone would have such an extreme reaction to doing it! The water is running and all the toothpaste gets washed down the drain! What's the big deal!

Sparklingbrook · 14/09/2015 09:12

The problem with DC doing this is their brushing technique. They really need a mirror when brushing their teeth IMO.

I do mine in the shower in the 2 mins I leave hair conditioner on. it saves time.
