A cheese and onion pastry is not junk food

Mil thinks it is. However is contains three veg (potato, leek and onion) and dairy for calcium.

That surely.means it isn't junk right? It has a lot of good stuff.

And wine is just grapes. HTH.

DisappointedOne · 08/09/2015 20:47

It's junk. Potato is a starch. Pastry is a starch. Lots of fat, lots of carbs. Junk.

Osolea · 08/09/2015 20:47

If you make it at home, then it might not be junk.

If you buy it from a petrol station, it probably would be.

ijustwannadance · 08/09/2015 20:48

Homemade or Greggs? Smile

RJnomaaaaaargh · 08/09/2015 20:49

I want one now.

BlameItOnTheBogey · 08/09/2015 20:49

and starburst have fruit in them.

TheCatsMother99 · 08/09/2015 20:49

It's not junk but it's not great.

SrAssumpta · 08/09/2015 20:50

I'd say it's definitely junk, I want one though!

BikeRunSki · 08/09/2015 20:50

It's double carbs and a lot of fat though. And salty. Even homemade food can be junk.

BrandNewAndImproved · 08/09/2015 20:51

Ketchup is so one of my 5 a day, put it with a cheese and onion pasty and it's almost 5 a day.

sooperdooper · 08/09/2015 20:51

It's definitely not health food! Homemade or from a quality bakery slightly better but yeah generally I'd class a pasty as junk

BrockAuLit · 08/09/2015 20:51

It doesn't have "a lot" of good stuff in it.

It has some good stuff.

Which is unfortunately counterbalanced by the fat content of the cheese and butter.

Nothing wrong with carbs, not good to double up carb.

I wouldn't call it junk food. But I would certainly be taking it easy for the remaining meal of the day.

alicemalice · 08/09/2015 20:51

I do like a cheese and onion pasty.

poocatcherchampion · 08/09/2015 20:52

I had one from Gregg's yesterday so did the dds I've never been so thirsty after a meal. Junk junk junkerooooooo

JawannaDrink · 08/09/2015 20:52

Its food. Eat it, be glad you can, and have vegetables tomorrow. Who gives a fuck? Its just FOOD.

SinglePringle · 08/09/2015 20:52

Another vote for junk. Not something I'd willingly eat.

Moregravyplease · 08/09/2015 20:57

I like them but don't pretend it's anything but junk food.

JustMeOverHere · 08/09/2015 20:59

I need one now. I'm not hungry even but I could scoff a pasty or sausage roll right now.

TurnOffTheTv · 08/09/2015 21:01

Of course it's junk! Would you class a pizza as junk? After all it's only dough, tomatoes and cheese?

UngratefulMoo · 08/09/2015 21:02

Well, it's definitely not healthy.... but probably better for you than bubble gum...

TheMotherOfHellbeasts · 08/09/2015 21:03

I wouldn't have called it junk food, not if it's homemade, but we're not in the UK and where we are everyone is a lot more relaxed about food, with an everything in moderation but don't stress sort of attitude.

MaddyinaPaddy · 08/09/2015 21:03

No I would not class a pizza as junk food at all. It is the pastry which makes a C&O pasty a no no

Hellochicken · 08/09/2015 21:04

"Junk" or occasional food. I love them.

Kampeki · 08/09/2015 21:05

Well, it's probably very yummy, but if it's a typical cheese & onion pasty, then I'm afraid it is junk! Sorry!

TendonQueen · 08/09/2015 21:06

The answers you get on threads like this usually come from the perspective than anything other than vegetables is junk, and carbs in particular are worse than crack.
