To think that it's odd that the royal family just brush this under the carpet?

Tbh I don't give much of a shiny shite about the royals generally, but saw Prince Harry on TV this morning and I've been thinking about him today with regards to his questionable parentage. I say questionable but anyone with a pair of eyes can see that he's James Hewitt's son - he's the absolute spitting image of him. Also he looks nothing like Charles or William.

Obviously this has been raised by the tabloids before, but I find it a bit weird that the whole thing is flatly denied by anybody involved even though the truth is staring everyone right in the face.

It raises some interesting questions: surely Harry has a right to know who his father is? If it transpired he was not Charles' son then would he still be a true part of the Royal Family? Would he still be 2nd in line to the throne? It's a right can of worms.

Right, in that case I am saying it would do some of them the world of good to clean their own bogs from time to time.

We don't know that they don't have a tidy up of the bathroom and a quick quick clean of the loo each time they've used it. Its one of those things that people do if they have someone who comes in to cleans for them.

I totally get a lot of what is said about the Royals but Im inclined to think the 'cleaning the loo' argument is counterproductive and a wee bit silly.

mathanxiety · 14/09/2015 07:00

I think William looks more like Lady Jane Fellowes the older he gets. I think Harry looks very like the other sister.

Scoobydoo8 · 14/09/2015 07:07

Do you actually believe that not one of our delightful media sources didn't get a couple of hairs from Harry's hair brush at some point in his schooldays or army life to test??

Then you are a bit na??ve.

If he wasn't his DF's son it would have been a huge scoop splashed across some page long before now.

travellinglighter · 14/09/2015 07:15

Given that Harry had already been born before Hewitt and Diana were DTD then I think the op should move on to denying that the moon landings took place, explaining how the CIA shot Kennedy and 9/11 was a hoax.

LoseLooseLucy · 14/09/2015 07:36

Hmm....

To think that it's odd that the royal family just brush this under the carpet?
herlmerm · 14/09/2015 22:53

But travelling - the moon landings did NOT take place!! I mean, who was the first person on the moon? Neil Armstrong, in the film, or the person who put the camera on the moon so that Neil Armstrong could walk down the steps on film.

And with all these satellites, how come not one of them has ever produced a photo of a moon buggy on the moon. Heh?

herlmerm · 14/09/2015 22:54

LoseLooseLucy - that's a photo of Prince Harry with John McEnroe's hair stuck on it. Clever bit of photoshop - well done [thumbs up]

LoseLooseLucy · 15/09/2015 08:14

herlmerm No photoshop, that is John McEnroe.

To think that it's odd that the royal family just brush this under the carpet?

DinosaursRoar · 15/09/2015 08:24

herlmerm - camera on a robotic arm was perfectly possible technology at the time (and what they said they used) and google "satalite photo of moon buggy" and you'll find there's lots of photos taken of the moon buggy and the moon buggy tracks by satalites.

So basically, 'all rich and/or successful white men look a bit alike' is what we've learned from this thread.

Mehitabel6 · 15/09/2015 08:26

I think that he is the one who looks very like Prince Charles! I think it will be even more pronounced as he gets older.

munchkinmaster · 15/09/2015 09:42

Of course Phil was a dish back in the 40s. The princess Elizabeth wasn't trawling through grim profiles on match hoping for a bloke who doesn't live with his mother and will stand you a drink on the first date.

She was fecking heir to the throne. Put that on your match profile and all the hotties will come running.

TwmSionCati · 15/09/2015 09:47

oh gosh yes Phil was a spunk bubble many moons ago.

munchkinmaster · 15/09/2015 09:59

She was probably texting Margaret:

"He's so handsome and tall and wears a uniform (swoon)!! And he's really Greek and that's so exotic! But then even though he's really a prince he had it all taken away and that makes my wee heart wibble.

I'm a little concerned he might not be suited to a life of etiquette and diplomacy, but who cares as - man that Greek is a hottie! Lol!"

TwmSionCati · 15/09/2015 10:03

yeh he is not Greek, at all. He is German. That is why his sisters were married to SS officers and couldnt be invited to his wedding.

UrbaneFox · 15/09/2015 10:29

Genes are weird. HOw did prince philip and the queen have such ordinary looking children. I think the queen is beautiful (or was beautiful, and PP, was a handsome man when he was young). And their kids? An ordinary looking bunch. I know looks aren't the point of the royal family. They're not obliged to be handsome. I do realise this.

katemiddletonsothermum · 15/09/2015 13:14

TwmSionCati - Phil's dad was the King of Greece. Prince Phillip is called a Prince because he is Prince Phillip of Greece, not because he's married to the Queen.

Phil should have been the King of Greece too, if they hadn't had the revolution.

He sounds pretty Greek to me.

katemiddletonsothermum · 15/09/2015 13:15

Urbane Fox - maybe..... .de de.. DAH.... they're not Phil's children.....

katemiddletonsothermum · 15/09/2015 13:16

God, I must get off Mumsnet and hoover the carpet or something. Do you know, you just can't get the staff these days.

KanyeWestPresidentForLife · 15/09/2015 13:34

Prince Philip wouldn't have been King of Greece, the last one is still alive:

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constantine_II_of_Greece

His Great-Grandfather was Philip's Grandfather. He was very far away from the Greek throne.

And regardless, the Greek monarchy was never ethnically Greek anyway. The Greeks wanted a monarch in 1832 and went around Europe asking loads of aristocrats to be King until a Danish prince agreed. Phil is Danish, Russian, British and German by descent. But he doesn't have a drop of Greek blood.

TwmSionCati · 15/09/2015 13:37

" Phil's dad was the King of Greece."

no he wasnt, far from it.

The last king of Greece lives in Hampstead Garden Suburb.
I only know that cos my little school friend lived next dorr to him Grin

katemiddletonsothermum · 15/09/2015 13:37

Ouch. That told me then.

Is this why the Royal Family don't like me?

katemiddletonsothermum · 15/09/2015 13:38

Dooors to Manuel.

TwmSionCati · 15/09/2015 13:39

and katemiddleton, Phil was not only very far from the Greek throne, he was not even Greek by passport let alone blood. I believe he was stateless when he married the Queen.
I think the Greek people call them 'the Germans'.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/09/2015 15:17

I also think that if you look at the Queen, the set of her eyes and how they are against the nose is just like Charles and Harry. Harry is clearly her Grandson.

ArcheryAnnie · 15/09/2015 16:17

Don't care a fig for the royal family, but it seems a bit off to speculate about someone's biological heritage.

I happen to think it very likely that he shares genes with Charles, but even if that wasn't true, Charles is his father, and it doesn't matter where the genetic material came from. This is true for all other families as well.
