migrants - AIBU to wonder how this will all work out ?

My understanding of the migrant crisis is that the majority of the migrants are coming from countries which do not, in any way, share or support Western beliefs/values/way of life. They are now flooding into Western Europe in the hundreds of thousands. Nobody knows who they are or their background in their home country. AIBU to wonder what will be the result of this ?

They are fleeing war/violence etc. AIBU to wonder why, when they reach Hungary, which is a 'safe' country, (although economically depressed), is it not good enough and they are determined to reach Germany, UK, Austria etc ?

AIBU to wonder why the majority of these migrants feel it is acceptable to stampede through European law immigration procedures to reach their chosen country rather than wait and be correctly processed in the 'safe country they have landed in ? Surely if a person has landed in a 'safe' country, after witnessing goodness knows what in their home country, they should respect and adhere to the policies and procedures of that country ?

AIBU to wonder how this will all work out ?

I would like to hear your calm and measured thoughts please................

Europe is digging its own grave with this. Most of these people are not our friends, they will not change, will not integrate, they are not welcome and most are chancers spotting an open door. Some people are so naive. Expect bombings and terror to get out of control in Europe in the next few years. The Israelis have warned us for years, they've had to deal with it. Now U.S.

BoffinMum · 05/09/2015 12:04

Noomflah, you think keeping people out of Europe and leaving them to suffer at the hands of crop failure, authoritarian regimes and permanent conflict will prevent terrorist attacks???

Good luck with that as a sustainable philosophy.

Noomflah · 05/09/2015 12:04

In addition, we cannot house the people we have our society is already going backwards. Poverty stricken crime ridden no go area Muslim ghettos in every town and city in Europe in 5 years if this continues.

There are people from Pakistan chancing their arm, Europe needs to reject the chaos of the third world not embrace it. Our grandparents generation would turn in their graves at what we are allowing Europe to become.

EuropaFanatic · 05/09/2015 12:07

BoffinMum on the whole I agree with your explanation of "cause" but no "effect". I hate to burst your bubble as you are looking for the good when saying you have "every confidence they will integrate" but their ideology means they cannot. Being a Muslim means you are obliged to try and convert non believers, you cannot relinquish your religion as apostasy is a crime punishable by death and your future generations are all Muslim by default without choice. Sure there are moderates but they still identify themselves as Muslim and still have these beliefs, they are just unlikely to act on them.

PuttingoutthefirewithGasoline mentioned a fevously religious Christian they knew and there are extremes in Christianity but the extremist Christians are less likely to want to kill you for disrespecting Christianity, God, Jesus, the Bible or indeed saying you were a Chriatian but aren't any more. The same can't be said for Muslim extremists. So you see there are extremes of extremism. Also compare how many seriously religious Christians there are compared to seriously religious Muslims as a % of total population. I think we would be lucky if there were 20% serious Christians in the West and I'm probably underestimating that 70% of the Muslim world are seriously religious. It is simply what is indoctrinated into them.

Eventually there will be a "critical mass" of numbers with a certain belief that will trigger events, and then it will be too late.

BoffinMum · 05/09/2015 12:10

So if they were Christian you would let them all in then?

EuropaFanatic · 05/09/2015 12:12

No, but it is one less thing to be concerned about and the effect it would have on the existing population.

Noomflah · 05/09/2015 12:16

I would be more inclined to let them all in if they were Christian yes and I am not ashamed of that. It is not racist to say so, but it reflects a shared cultural heritage. That's far from saying no Muslim should immigrate to the west , but I think with all that has gone on in the Middle East in the last 5 years we should be desperately careful . When Gadaffi was falling he predicted an extremist Muslim invasion of North Africa and Europe . To me, it looks like it is happening but many will bury their heads in the sand , dismissing the ever increasing bombings and massacres which will come , of that I have no doubt .

EuropaFanatic · 05/09/2015 12:20

As I said there are incidents that demonstrate just how strong their belief structure is such as when two groups of differing religions started arguing about their respective deity's on their boat, this lead to a fight where 12 of one of the factions were thrown overboard by the other faction and they drowned. How are we Europeans/Westerners supposed to view this? They are supposedly fleeing for their very lives taking a risk in a small boat to escape but even in this most desperate of circumstances arguing about religion is so important it means you should commit murder. If this is how these people think and is how they behave in these most desperate of circumstances how are they going to behave and integrate when a European Country welcomes them and gives them asylum?

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 05/09/2015 12:21

Have you fully integrated in the Middle Eastern country you're living in, Europa?

Lemonfizzypop · 05/09/2015 12:23

noomflah has lost the plot.

EuropaFanatic · 05/09/2015 12:26

Yes, I am respectful of traditions, ideology, religion and the Laws of the land and do not encourage, demand or orate anything going against these, I am a guest in their Country so I give them the respect they deserve.

BoffinMum · 05/09/2015 12:27

Well, the reason I am able to argue with you on here about tolerance and inclusion is because I am the child of an immigrant and I have milked, absolutely milked this country in terms of education. I now take up a job a 100% English person could be in, live in a house a 100% English person could be using, and what's more I have produced more children than the average English person meaning I am outbreeding the native population. I openly advocate different attitudes and views when it suits me, largely based on the religious and cultural values of my immigrant parent. I will be absolutely delighted if I manage to convert you all to my point of view on a number of matters, because I am so committed to it. I have also infiltrated the lower echelons of the Establishment to a certain degree, and wield a certain amount of power and influence in the public sector.

So the question is, am I a threat to you?
Has my presence been dangerous to your way of life?

Lemonfizzypop · 05/09/2015 12:29

You're loving this one boat argument story eh Europa, using this ONE story as somehow proof that refugees are going to come over and force everyone to become Muslim.
We live in a mostly secular society here, despite years of immigration, why would that change now? There are many different religions here, all getting on and doing their own religious thing, I work in very Muslim area and the only people I've seen trying to indoctrinate are Jehovah witnesses at the station!

BoffinMum · 05/09/2015 12:30

I don't think Europa was awake when the Northern Irish religious hostilities were happening.

Lemonfizzypop · 05/09/2015 12:31

Some of the hysteria on here is incredible.

IPityThePontipines · 05/09/2015 12:33

Europe's also missed the part about Syria having a substantial number of non-Muslims who lived and worked alongside the rest of the population.

I'm Muslim and resent this drip drip of demonisation being used as an excuse to turn away from those who need help.

BoffinMum · 05/09/2015 12:33

I do wonder how people get so worked up about this. But then we are an island nation so I suppose that has something to do with the prevailing mentality in terms of other countries.

EuropaFanatic · 05/09/2015 12:33

Maybe not you of your own in the current position you hold, but a few million more doing the same or a handful being propelled to the upper echelons of power then quite possibly.

Assuming you are not baiting me(which won't work I might add), I'm interested in knowing why if you have used the current establishment to such great personal gain why you would want to change something that has proven to be so effective for you? Why not continue the success rather than try to change it as you have stated is your goal?

BoffinMum · 05/09/2015 12:34

Does anyone on MN NOT know muslims who just get on with it and live their lives?!

Charlesroi · 05/09/2015 12:36

There was a letter in the Times today pointing out that Ted Heath accepted 55000 Ugandan Asians in to the country in the 70's, and that turned out pretty well.
Maybe it's time to take another risk?

BoffinMum · 05/09/2015 12:36

Because I hate bigots with all my heart. Kill bigotry, I say. Let goodness, science and reason prevail at all costs. Love thy neighbour. This is my ultimate mission in life.
