To be absolutely sick of people bragging on social media

It's reached ridiculous proportions, people 'checking in' at posh hotels, sipping glasses of Champers in spas and even documenting new car purchases (that seems to be the new thing with a hands over eyes emoticon denoting the 'worrying' amount of money that they'll soon be spending.)

I am happy for people having nice times - but it's the ones who document every single sneeze of good fortune that I'm absolutely sick of.

Do these people not realise that a lot of people have nice times in nice places but just don't wish to ram it down other people's throats in a continuous stream?

Time I took a break I think. And breathe.

Don't look, don't engage. Facebook was really depressing me so I have spent my summer holiday ignoring it. I feel so much better for it - even though I only looked at it about 3-4 times a week.

I sound bitter and weird but I do feel it's now not what it started out as and everybody has this 'if you can't beat 'em join 'em' approach now to bragging. Everyone is doing it so why don't I too?

People are such narcissists these days because of social media, why do i need to know you have gone out shopping or had a nice meal.

This is why i prefer twitter to facebook, people rarely brag on twitter.

I have a friend like this. She has Facebook and Instagram and constantly uses them to brag about her 'amazing' husband, show off her new car, holidays, city breaks, new house, days out in expensive places etc.
Deep down, I know she's not that happy. She's very insecure but if you were only a casual acquaintance of hers, you would think her life is perfect. A scientific study showed that the people who brag most on social media are insecure/ unhappy.

Yes. A lot of it makes me cringe. Snapchat is full of it!

I don't want to be swept along with this and it become the norm for me too as it goes against every fibre of who I am. I was brought up not to brag. It does seem now that if it's not bragged about on social media it didn't happen.

I use FB as a sarcastic commentary on my life. The only person I know who constantly posts about how wonderful everything is has a husband who has sex with prostitutes, so I take everything with a pinch of salt.

But what are we supposed to be putting on social media? If I go on holiday, I post the pictures: then my family back home / abroad can see them. If I'm doing something good, I want my friends and family to know too, they might want to do it too. Or they may be happy for me that I'm doing something good. I love seeing my friends' status' like this, makes a break from all the memes that just get copied in.

I have sat in all weekend and just boggled at the amount of My Amazing Life posts and pictures. If it was that amazing you wouldn't have time to be posting on social media. Tossers.

I saw a status today from a woman saying how proud she was of her son on the birth of his child. people are making up things to brag about nowadays.

Surly it's not that I'm talking about though.

It's the clear braggy stuff. Checking in at five star hotels, at the Audi garage, executive lounges at airports, every SINGLE nice day out you go on with the kids.

I came off Facebook after it was making my anxiety & depression worse and just made me feel inadequate and sad.
The bragging of the smeg fridge and 'I'm off roll top bath shopping' tipped me over the edge when I was feeling low about not being able to afford new clothes or a hair cut - not jealousy as such just sad my situations the total opposite. There's a way of posting it so you don't come across like a dick or rubbing people's noses in that particular good fortune

This is the reason I suspended my account earlier this year. I don't miss it.

there are people with more money than you (and I). Why does it bother you? Make the most of your own life. Jealousy just makes you unhappy and won't benefit them.

How do you know they have more money?

It's what social media is mainly used for, isn't it?

It's so ghastly, I hate it. Anyone who actually has a really nice lifestyle and is happy in themselves does not do this. It's so vulgar.

I quite like following some of them, especially of friends that I know well because when we meet in person I always get to hear the rest (less idyllic side) of the story.

I can't stand the uplifting/spiritual quotes, any reference to angels leads to instant blocking.
