To think that this is disgusting and offensive?

I like little signs and words around the home. I have quite a few, made from nicely decorated wooden letters ('soak' in the living room, 'relax' in the guest bedroom, kids names on their windowsills etc).

I went to a friends house today. She has a new sign too.
It's wooden letters above her loo spelling out a vulgar term for urine. She thought it was hilarious. I not so.

Am I boring or is it offensive? What would you think?

I just can't see the need for all the stress OP. Piss is just a word. Whilst I don't do the words thing myself, if I saw that I might smile.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 21/08/2015 14:25

I've oftened fancied getting LOVE and HOME and putting HOVEL in my hallway.
Never got around to such tattery though.

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/08/2015 14:32

And yes I do think that if people buy letters that I've taken lots of time and trouble to decorate nicely, then it is an insult to spell out profanities. Why buy them!??

Because some people think it's more important to be funny, than twee.

You'd love DH's wooden carving of a shitting demon in our bathroom.

Because that's the point of them, surely? What is life if it cannot be subversive?

Honestly, OP, I fear that you may be entirely in the wrong business. Might I suggest you consider opening a Piano Leg Covering Emporium?

JanineMelnitzGlasses · 21/08/2015 15:05

Dowser you beat me to it Grin

cruikshank · 21/08/2015 15:14

Not my taste unless its a child's room and maybe their name.

How many children do you know called 'Piss'?

beefthief · 21/08/2015 15:16

I spelled out CUNT and BOLLOCKS with Alphabeti Spaghetti and was so offended that I threw my plate out of the window. You should do the same with her loo.

LargeGoldCunt · 21/08/2015 15:17

I wonder how that would go down on the Baby names board Grin

Pedestriana · 21/08/2015 15:18

I don't mind the ones that say 'welcome' in a hallway but the rest are irritating. I would have a 'piss' one in the bathroom too! Then again, I'm vulgar.

JeffreysMummyisCross · 21/08/2015 15:22

Actually "cunt" is a bit vulgar. I'm going to get letters that spell "yoni" to keep in the room where I steam-clean my fanjo.

cruikshank · 21/08/2015 15:24

If it caught on, it could make the OP loads of money with people going to her for orders.

SistersOfPercy · 21/08/2015 15:24

I want a Piss for my bathroom, along with one of these

cruikshank · 21/08/2015 15:26

That is marvellous, SistersofPercy.

ThereIsIron · 21/08/2015 15:27

We had a sign on our bathroom door when I was a kid - it said 4U2P Shock

WoeIsMee · 21/08/2015 15:28

Thank you to all the people who seem point of view. It's nice to see that I'm not being totally 'unreasonable' Hmm

I've decided I'm going to give her a gift of some of my découpage letters with a slightly more appropriate word. I don't want to upset or embarrass her by pointing out how it looks, but this way she has the choice, and hopefully she'll make the right one!

Thank you again to those who agreed - it's nice to know it's not only me!

MN has gone made lately!

I read a thread the other day about someone who wont wipe their own bum with their own towel after they have washed said bum in the shower :o

And now this. I am so glad to read stuff like this, makes me feel (relatively) normal!

Bogeyface · 21/08/2015 15:30

Mad not made :o

What, like widdle or something? Grin

I don't know why you don't just leave it. It's her house, not yours!

WoeIsMee · 21/08/2015 15:31

*see my

This thread is absolute gold Grin Especially now that OP is going to provide a more 'appropriate' word!

WHAT?! So you have gone from bonkers to totally fucking arrogant!

Its her home, you have absolutely no right to pass any comment on her choice of decor and as for "she has a choice and hopefully she'll make the right one...." I hope she does to, by choosing to dump your sorry ass as a friend. I wouldnt want someone so two faced and bitchy in my life.

Bogeyface · 21/08/2015 15:33

too

LargeGoldCunt · 21/08/2015 15:33

Oh op,

I do hope your friend is a Mumsnetter, i can just see her thread title now....

AIBU to think my snotty friend has a cheek? She has given me a widdle sign to replace my piss!

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/08/2015 15:33

I wonder which is less polite, putting 'piss' in your bathroom, or deliberately giving someone a gift not to their taste to prove a point? Hmmm.

WoeIsMee · 21/08/2015 15:34

What, like widdle or something

Er, no Hmm

I was thinking 'soak' (like mine, which looks lovely), or 'calm'.
