To think that this is disgusting and offensive?

I like little signs and words around the home. I have quite a few, made from nicely decorated wooden letters ('soak' in the living room, 'relax' in the guest bedroom, kids names on their windowsills etc).

I went to a friends house today. She has a new sign too.
It's wooden letters above her loo spelling out a vulgar term for urine. She thought it was hilarious. I not so.

Am I boring or is it offensive? What would you think?

Worktolive : Is piss a vulgar term for urine? I thought it was quite mild in the great scheme of things. Does she have one that says shit too?

I'd actually hazard a guess that she may have letters that spell hits in the music room...maybe it's in the wrong place?

Reubs15 · 21/08/2015 13:16

You're overreacting. If it offends you that much don't go round? It's just a word, not like she's weeing on you or something Grin

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 21/08/2015 13:18

Maybe she's being frugal? If you're paying by the letter, "Piss" is certainly cheaper than "Urinate" just like "Shit" is cheaper than "Defecate" - I have to applaud her money saving ways. Grin

Summerisle1 · 21/08/2015 13:21

Next time you are round, just take a lace handkerchief in with you and cover this appallingly vulgar outrage to public fucking decency.

amarmai · 21/08/2015 13:28

bet a lot of people order letters now,op. Good advertising !

Your friend sounds like she has a fantastic sense of humour! You... not so much.

GarminGirl · 21/08/2015 13:31

Abby op! So you're the one.... The one that's making and selling all this kitsonesque letter/word stuff! Please stop

WhatchaMaCalllit · 21/08/2015 13:34

WorkToLive - I love that website that you posted!!!!! Thank you for introducing me and everyone else that wasn't aware of it to it. I think that's Christmas sorted for a while anyway!!!

Pipbin · 21/08/2015 13:34

I have a set of the 'unt' mugs, the ones with a black handle. They are kept out of the way so not to be given to the unsuspecting.

I do kind of see your point OP, that you wouldn't want your child reading that.
However, this is her house and she can do what she wants. And as for the letters, once you have sold them the the buyer can do what they want also.

cariadlet · 21/08/2015 13:37

I find the fashion for words as ornaments a bit twee, but also find the OP's friend's sign a bit childish - the sort of thing I'd expect to see in a student house.
"Piss" isn't a word that I find particularly offensive, but I'd only use it in front of dp or some of my friends. I wouldn't say it in front of dd and she wouldn't say it in front of me.

I think it's an inappropriate sign if it's in a house with children or a house that people are likely to visit and bring their children with them (don't know if that's the case cos I've only read the first page of the thread) - and I don't care if that makes me sound old fashioned, pompous or stuck up!

SuffolkNWhat · 21/08/2015 13:40

You'd hate me then, we have the entrance to the Ministry of Magic decal on our downstairs loo.

OP you're such a muggle.

Fiderer · 21/08/2015 13:40

Judi Dench embroiders on set during all the sitting and waiting around. Apparently she embroiders "You are a cunt" and "Fuck 'em" "You are a fucking shit" and such.

Made me laugh reading that Grin

coffeeisnectar · 21/08/2015 13:43

Oh dear, the op wins the most pointless and unreasonable AIBU award for this week surely?

We could make the award out of wooden letters ....Total Waste of Actual TIme.

Sazzle41 · 21/08/2015 13:45

Less is more. Not my taste unless its a child's room and maybe their name. I think your friend's sign is very bad taste, having a dig at you, which is childish way to do it .

YouTheCat · 21/08/2015 13:46

If it's good enough for Dame Judy then YABU, OP.

TheCatsMother99 · 21/08/2015 13:47

This is such a non-event that I can't work out if this is a joke post or not.

I actually don't like those wooden letters, they're bloody everywhere, but I'd find one which said 'piss' funny as it's taking the piss (no pun intended) out of them a bit.

helenahandbag · 21/08/2015 13:47

OP you're such a muggle

Gunpowderplot · 21/08/2015 13:50

She's playing a bit of a joke on you. No harm in it.

wafflyversatile · 21/08/2015 13:57

Perhaps a list of permitted and forbidden words on your fb page?

I can guess that shit cunt twat and fuck are probably forbidden but other word are borderline. Can you rule on the following?

flange kitchen
crotch den
moist bathroom
thrush garden
fanjo drawing room
crabs kitchen
Grunt WC
BJ bedroom
porn WC
anal any tidy home
Frigid fridge

BumpTheElephant · 21/08/2015 13:58

OP you cannot be serious! I think this is joke thread or possibly a reverse.

Wooden letters are a bit "twigs and pebbly shit" to me. Not keen. I quite like your friends piss take.

I think all these signs/letters etc around the home are rather C.R.A.P.

specialsubject · 21/08/2015 14:10

am I really the first to think Father Jack and the alphabet blocks?

Dowser · 21/08/2015 14:14

Look on the bright side.

It could have been SHIT
