So my sister was surprised that we eat fast food/takeaway once a week every friday. We usually have fish and chips, dominos, Mcdonalds or KFC, the dc usually have an chocolate bar or sweet item the same night. None of us are overweight and dc have very healthy diet during the week.

Aibu to think most families do this.

Every Friday night. Was originally borne from the fact we shopped on a Friday night when the kids were small and then couldn't be bothered to cook so called the Chinese/Indian/Italian/Chippy on the way home but eventually just became the done thing.
We are all quite normal weights.

Loki17 · 18/08/2015 19:59

We don't. Probably once a month. I'm veggie so McDonald's is never appealing. My last meal would be either Domino's or Papa John's though!

bettyberry · 18/08/2015 20:00

Had pizza every week here since the holidays. Its exhausting cooking 3 meals a day! I'm done in and need one night off.

Sometimes have chinese too if the OH is here but mostly we eat homecooked. Thankfully have a man who loves to cook like I do :)

Gooseberrycrumble2 · 18/08/2015 20:00

We don't. We tend to get a takeaway once every five months or so

Gruntfuttock · 18/08/2015 20:00

We only have a takeaway maybe once or twice in a timespan of 3 years.

iwantgin · 18/08/2015 20:00

In fact our takeaways are only Indian curries or fish and chips.

McDonald's and KFC don't feature at all. D's sometimes gets those with his friends but me and DH don't eat them.

Tooooooohot · 18/08/2015 20:00

We eat out or get a takeaway once a week, probably eat out or buy coffees etc more in holidays.

SirChenjin · 18/08/2015 20:00

No - once in a blue moon here. Far too expensive for 5 people to be doing it weekly.

ElviraCondomine · 18/08/2015 20:00

In the past year we've had takeaway 4 times - twice for birthdays, once for DD finishing her exams and once because we won one in DD2's school fair.

BikeRunSki · 18/08/2015 20:00

No. We got fish and chips for convenience after a very long day a couple of weeks ago. Prior to that - I think it may have been a treat after I did the Leeds Half Marathon in May last year.

noblegiraffe · 18/08/2015 20:01

No. We have a Chicago town frozen 'takeaway' pizza on a Friday though.

rookiemere · 18/08/2015 20:01

In real life most probably. On mumsnet I think you'll find that most mumsnetters have one once a year and then share a portion of chicken tikka massala between 4 adults as the portions are so dreadfully large.

We have one about once a month, but we do eat out at least once a week.

MumOfTheMoment · 18/08/2015 20:02

YANBU.

We would if we could afford it.

We have one a month usually, both to improve our diet and save money. Occasionally we might have another in the month but certainly not weekly - I don't think there's anything wrong with weekly btw if that's what you choose to do.

Me2you · 18/08/2015 20:03

Yes its perfectly normal lol!! Why wouldn't it be once a week not once a day

HelenaJustina · 18/08/2015 20:03

No one bloody delivers out to my tiny village so we possibly have one about once a year...

There is a rumour that the nearest market town is going to get a Dominos and they were such a huge/rare treat when I was growing up (due to the expense) that if it turns out to be true, I can see myself succumbing 3/4 times a year.

fourtothedozen · 18/08/2015 20:04

We get the kids a takeaway once a week on a Saturday. - not too expensive just for the two of them.
OH and I don't have one though- partly because of the expense, but we are not huge fans.
It gives us a chance to eat something that the kids are not fond of like a baked cheese, calamari or a huge bowl of fresh mussels.

CharleyDavidson · 18/08/2015 20:04

Eat out once a month, takeaway once a month. That's it.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 18/08/2015 20:05

having said it's too expensive I've just realised we probably eat out once a week! I guess we just prefer the experience of eating out to having takeaway at home.

Heels99 · 18/08/2015 20:05

Couple times a year. We do eat out a lot though

FadedRed · 18/08/2015 20:05

Cannot remember when last had a takeaway. So, no, not usual for us.

fourtothedozen · 18/08/2015 20:05

I have to say though we eat out only once or twice a year, including coffee shops.

RiverTam · 18/08/2015 20:06

We're about once a month-ish, it's not a regular thing though. I wouldn't go for any of those, though, none of them sound much like a treat!

SistersofPercy · 18/08/2015 20:06

To be fair if we have an Indian (there are 3 of us, DH, DD who's almost 18 and myself) we order 2 Tikka's and a large chips and that easily divides between all three of us. We have a Chinese each though Grin
