So my sister was surprised that we eat fast food/takeaway once a week every friday. We usually have fish and chips, dominos, Mcdonalds or KFC, the dc usually have an chocolate bar or sweet item the same night. None of us are overweight and dc have very healthy diet during the week.

Aibu to think most families do this.

It varies here but we have 2-3 a month. Tbh I'm sick of them so sometimes go without because I always over indulge and feel sluggish after. There's a huge choice where I live though and some places give us discount because we've used them that much Blush

echt · 19/08/2015 09:20

Now in Au, but the habit hasn't changed, takeaway is only a couple of times a year.

CrabbyTheCrabster · 19/08/2015 09:59

Never as a family. DP and I have an Indian takeaway every few months.

We eat out every couple of months, on average.

We eat really well at home so it seems like a waste to shell out money for food that is rarely as good as what we cook.

Marynary · 19/08/2015 10:11

We never have takeaways although we go out for a meal about once every couple of months.

It doesn't sound very healthy to have KFC/McDonalds every week but I suppose it depends on the rest of your diet.

Bumpsadaisie · 19/08/2015 10:40

Not judging you but we never have a takeaway as a family.

We probably go to the chippy and sit on the beach twice a year and then DH and I get a curry maybe three times a year.

DeandraReynolds · 19/08/2015 10:42

Is the chippy not a takeaway then?

chrome100 · 19/08/2015 11:07

We usually get one on a Sunday night.

DP and I (no kids) have really hectic weekends, often go away and come back late with no food in.

A pizza from our take away is £2.50. Cheaper than the shop and it comes cooked!

Neither of us are overweight.

RugbyMeetup · 19/08/2015 12:20

Just guessing here, but as this is the OP's first post & they haven't returned, I wonder which paper they're writing this article for...?

FrenchJunebug · 19/08/2015 12:23

we don't. It's once in a blue moon (and if so the local deli pizza).

GirlOverboard · 19/08/2015 12:38

I would if I could afford to. But I could buy a weeks shopping for the cost of a Domino's takeaway, so I can't justify it at the moment. But yes, I think it's perfectly fine and healthy to eat a takeaway once a week.

Figster · 19/08/2015 12:38

Weekly no maybe once a month/every 6 weeks or so and then would be a curry or a Chinese.

Skiingmaniac · 19/08/2015 12:40

Takeaway maybe once per month here too

TheViciousChickenofBristol · 19/08/2015 14:19

Friday night is curry night here...we eat healthy, home cooked vegetarian the other 6 nights of the week.

ScoutRifle · 19/08/2015 16:40

We never do. I feel they are over priced and my husbands cooking is so much better. It's a treat everyday in our house (except for me as I'm in training at the moment Grin )

PickleSarnie · 19/08/2015 16:43

We haven't had one in years.

I always feel a bit grubby and used after one. And not in a good way.

StaceyAndTracey · 19/08/2015 16:52

LOL at pickle

slightlyconfused85 · 19/08/2015 17:06

We have one once every couple of months. I don't like curry, dh doesn't like Chinese and neither of us like McDonald's or kfc. So we get a pizza every so often! Sounds expensive to do every week

chaiselounger · 19/08/2015 17:34

£2.50 for a pizza? Show me the way!!
Add a zero. Most of our takeaways are nearer £25

hopperglove · 19/08/2015 17:40

We have a great little chinese takeaway near us which the kids love ( I am not a fan of takeaways)

Stirfried chicken and rice for £2.50, Singapore noodles with meat and veg ( huge portion enough for 2) £3.80, Beef and green pepper in a black bean sauce with rice £4.20, chicken noodle soup £1.60.

It's cheap and cheerful, kids love it.

BuggerLumpsAnnoyed · 19/08/2015 17:45

I work in a takeaway. Once a week is incredibly common. Some much more. I probably get a couple but that's due to working unsociable hours and getting a huge discount. I also know what goes in them and go for a healthy option a lot

LavenderLeigh · 19/08/2015 18:46

Maximum four times a year.
Trying to watch the pennies here!

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 19/08/2015 19:57

Nope, none here. I used to have them pre-DD when I shared a flat with a friend.

GobShites · 19/08/2015 20:03

We have take away twice a week every week Blush

On a Friday and Saturday night once our toddler DS is in bed, but not because it's unhealthy, but because I don't want to share it with him Grin

YouTheCat · 19/08/2015 20:04

Maybe once a month.

Had sweet and sour chicken for tea tonight. But I made it from scratch and it was better than a takeaway.
