Was it a big or small affair and did you have any/much financial support from parents/ family?

$50 for offficial ceremony in Orlando City Hall. Plus on holiday at the time, which we got last minute for £600. Already in our 40's (both first marriage) and didn't want fuss or debt!

Bodicea · 04/08/2015 16:26

£17000 in 2012 not including honeymoon. 90 guests in day and 30 more at night. I have a big family. Biggest cost was the venue and food.
My parents paid with dh's paying a £1000 towards it.
I am aware how lucky we were.

acquiescence · 04/08/2015 16:27

Around £20k earlier this year, including honeymoon. Venue was a big cost as it had accommodation for around 50 guests which they contributed to (around £50 per person for a weekend). My dress was second hand. Lots of diy. £3k on honeymoon. £4k on food. Around £7k on the venue I think.

autolight12 · 04/08/2015 16:27

Glindathegoodwitch · 04/08/2015 16:28

Me & STBH are saving towards our wedding atm but I did have a thought the other day... HE asked ME to marry HIM. Why am I saving to pay for it?!

He told me to sod off Grin

DustyMaiden · 04/08/2015 16:29

£3000 in 1984. DD marrying in a matter of weeks 15k and counting. 15k for one day seems crazy.

Fluffy40 · 04/08/2015 16:29

Total of about 3k in 1996, my mum paid for all the food and some of the drink. We paid everything else.

AnotherGirlsParadise · 04/08/2015 16:31

£120ish for register office, 2 friends as witnesses. Gorgeous Monsoon dress off eBay, £80, another £36 to have it altered by a local tailor. £60 for DH's lovely suit. Dinner in a favourite local restaurant, £60 for a night in the hotel we first spent the night together. For us, it's perfect Smile

nmg85 · 04/08/2015 16:32

Got married this year, about 11k including rooms for family etc night of wedding and live band we brought down from Scotland who we love. Small service and 75 for evening. That was one of the cheapest we could get round here for what we wanted. Bought a lot off eBay and made quite a bit ourselves. The venue with food was just under £5000 but photographer was £1000. Dress was £950 including alterations. Rooms were about 600. Was given £10k from parents / gparents wills and the rest we added in. Honeymoon was an additional £3k all paid for by us.

Around ?70k.

I got married here. It was above and beyond anything I had ever imagined, and I think about that perfect day almost every day.

We had around 100 guests.

starkers1 · 04/08/2015 16:36

£50k- including honeymoon- big old house, 110 guests, church wedding.
Putting 1 larger figure out there as suspect those with are too embarrassed to come out here? Most people I know weddings cost between £15- £60k- but we are in London. Money from my dad's (parents) inheritance paid for most of it.

pinkchampagne1 · 04/08/2015 16:37

Our wedding package cost £350,000 which included venue, use of marque, lovely 3 course meal for 50 guests, bubbly for toast and 2 bottles of wine per table for meal, evening disco, bacon baps for evening and overnight accommodation for bride and groom including breakfast in morning. The venue was a lovely little Manor House which was exclusive to our wedding party until the next day. We saved money by choosing a Sunday wedding as a Saturday would have cost us double.

My parents gave us 2k and also paid for my dress (bought in Debenhams sale), my sister's bridesmaid dress, seat covers and a harpist. My dad also paid for his own suit hire.
DH's parents contributed another 2k and FIL also paid for his suit hire.

We paid just over a grand on our platinum wedding rings, flowers cost a total of £200 as a friend of mine did them, photographer was a friend's DP so he kindly did it free of charge, registrar fees were around £700 and honeymoon to Sorrento was around 2k.

I would say we kept costs down as much as possible but splashed out a little more on honeymoon and rings. It was the perfect wedding day Smile

Jackiebrambles · 04/08/2015 16:38

Ours was £24k, including honeymoon, in 2012. My folks gave us £5k towards it and we paid for the rest. No debt.

That was 100 people in a London venue by the river, exclusive use, 3 course meal, free drinks/bar all day and evening buffet. We had an extra 20 guests in the evening.

The most expensive thing was the food / booze without a doubt!!

GoooRooo · 04/08/2015 16:39

£5k in total. £1k from my parents. £500 from MIL. The rest we paid ourselves.

We had 60 guests and that £5k included everything including invitations, a two week honeymoon, dresses/outfits, cake, flowers, hairdresser, band, photographer, dinner, a belly dancer, favours, gifts for the bridal party, a barber, registrar, wine during dinner and a free bar for the rest of the evening for all guests. It also included a boat trip including lunch and drinks for the whole of the next day for all guests.

I recommend getting married in Turkey.

Jackiebrambles · 04/08/2015 16:42

Pink is that figure right?!

lightgreenglass · 04/08/2015 16:43

£25k, my parents paid for the whole shindig. At the time we didn't know. They gave us the money after. £3-4k on honeymoon which we paid for.

HolidayHeidi · 04/08/2015 16:43

A shocking amount. I will be flamed if I say how much. However we had amazing jobs at the time and paid for it all ourselves. It was utterly perfect and I don't regret it.

pinkchampagne1 · 04/08/2015 16:43

Sorry, ours was actually £3,500 k for our wedding package. Got distracted by delivery man!

moooolah · 04/08/2015 16:44

5.5k ish..we ran away and did it alone!

lightgreenglass · 04/08/2015 16:44

150 people in Staffordshire.

gotredonyou · 04/08/2015 16:49

Getting married in a few months and its going to be about £6000. 60 day guests, 100 evening in a pretty country hotel. My mum bought my dress (£500) and my dad and mother in law (to be) have paid £500 each.

Wendied · 04/08/2015 16:50

£40k in 2010. All paid for by us. Over 100 guests, rings included in that, wedding and engagement, which accounts for 10k of the costs.

We both have good jobs and DH was a little older. Don't regret a penny.

pinkchampagne1 · 04/08/2015 16:50

We are certainly not rich enough for a £350,000 wedding! Grin We probably spent a total of about 7k when we got married last year. It was second wedding for both of us
