So fed up so far DC have been off almost 5 weeks we've had about 2 days of no rain, we've missed
Picnics in the park with our friends
Nice day trips
Days to the beach making sandcastle a
Riding bikes
Getting the paddling pool out
Playing in the garden the grass is a pile of squelchy mud
Wearing summer clothes from our holiday
Drying washings on the line
Not putting the heating on
Going out means wellies and waterproofs

Honesty it has been dire

Urgh, yes. It was gorgeous the week the schools broke up - I'm a teacher - then has been consistently shit ever since. I have summer clothes still with tags on, but have already started eyeing up a/w stuff. We moved house earlier this year and I was so excited about having a proper garden, but it's barely been dry enough to get washing out, let alone sit and read a book or have a barbecue.

QueenFuri · 01/08/2015 14:23

Thunder storms and heavy rain in my little west coast town today... Weather has been awful the last 2/3 weeks.

5YearsTime · 01/08/2015 15:51

I have my heating set at 15 degrees and it clicked on this morning!! ???? wondered why I felt comfortably warm. Might be a good day...oh no it's just the heating.

I am totally skunnered with it Grin
Kids have been in wellies and rain jackets for weeksAngry

GirlsTimesThree · 01/08/2015 16:09

Woo hoo! We've had summer this afternoon (Albeit a fairly breezy, not too warm one. The sun is out!!)! Been for a lovely walk with DD2 and had to take my fleece off halfway round. It'll be bikinis by the end of the week.... Or maybe not...

howabout · 01/08/2015 16:16

Glad it's not just me then. YANBU.

Useable rainy days and the other sort.

tatumsfunkychicken · 01/08/2015 16:21

And it's pissing down, again, so so annoyed. Entertaining my toddler is a nightmare.

pictish · 01/08/2015 16:23

God I know it's a wash out.
We're off camping for a week tomorrow. We were booked in at a campsite outside Gairloch but we have changed tack and are going to Aviemore instead. The weather there looks somewhat better...a lot less windy and a bit less rain. I've just been into Edinburgh to get waterproof trousers for the kids. Think they might need them for playing out at the campsite.

OOAOML · 01/08/2015 16:35

currently squinting at my phone cos I came out without my sunglasses Smile

DopeyDawg · 01/08/2015 16:36

Crap here too!

Had planned a camping trip this weekend.
Ended up at beach but in several layers and waterproofs.

Been stuck in due to rain and short expensive dashes out.

Properly miserable to think winter is on it's way Sad

Highlandbird · 01/08/2015 16:44

Yep, it's seriously shite and we are so so so fed up of it too. Sad
We live near glencoe and have only had a couple of nice days the whole summer....have the wood burner on today...9 degrees and pishing down. It's all about the wellies and waterproofs and splashing in muddy puddles and hot chocolate, what happened to ice cream and picnics and days at the beach?! We have canceled two family camping weekends for shite weather.
Going to the highland game fair on Friday, can guarantee that'll be a quagmire as well.
Ahh it's good to get that big moan off my chest!

Piffpaffpoff · 01/08/2015 16:50

I'd say that's a good choice Pictish, much more to do in Aviemore when the weather is crap. Even walking going for a walk in the forest kind of gets you out of the weather a bit. There's also often ranger-led activities for kids on in Boat of Garten and Nethybridge that are either free or really cheap. We did a couple when we were up that way a couple of weeks ago, very good fun.

Did anyone mention the snow the other day yet?

RainyJuly · 01/08/2015 16:59

YANBU. It inspired my current MN name.

A double digit temperature difference across the UK always makes me feel a bit hard done by and it's seemed non stop this month.

AugustHasToBeBetter · 01/08/2015 17:03

Name updated for the new month!

loveandsmiles · 01/08/2015 17:11

YANBU

summer holidays with 5DCs and expecting DC6 next week has been no joke in this weather! We had a week away to Borders at start of holidays which was glorious - downhill since.

It was dry on Thursday - not particularly sunny but no rain - we took the opportunity to take DCs out for the day to a local attraction along with half the country - the place was packed - queues for everything - more misery!!

Had bought a new super sized paddling pool which DCs have been asking to go in every day - resorted to filling it with hot water today just to give them something to do - they've been in it for hours - too cold to get outGrin

expatinscotland · 01/08/2015 17:37

I now wish we had arranged to stay here (abroad) for longer. Next year, we will. It's 34 degrees here now. Am dreading going back, so depressing. We had wanted to camp in the last two weeks before school starts.

Euphemia - am definitely on board with that one.

It's been lovely and sunny most of the day here apart from the torrential downpour for about an hour from 2-3pm.

The weeds in my garden are laughing at me, I bought fence paint to repaint the fence this summer, I need to actually plant some bushes ive bought and chop down some conifers that have grown mad and are too close to the house.

Off to Kelvingrove tomorrow at least it's dry in there

ThisisMrsNicolaHicklin · 01/08/2015 19:21

I'll say this very quietly - I like this weather Grin
Its not too hot and the sun isn't glaring down. We waterproofed the whole family at the start of the summer and it's been ok.

sweetkitty · 01/08/2015 21:21

No no no your not allowed to like this weather. This is a thread for moaning about the weather.

Oh well soon it will be dark as well as cold/rainy/windy going to be a long winter.
