people that bump park should have their licence taken away

Surely no one thinks bump parking is acceptable? Especially now parking is easy as new cars all have rear parking cameras with guides.

I see it all the time in London and I've never witnessed it happening to my high end car, but I'm sure the small bumps are caused by it.

If you can afford to live in Crouch End and and own a high end car you could get a chauffer to drive it for you Wink.

(Is this the poster that was looking for a house to buy with a several million £ budget the other day?)

magzjobes45 · 26/07/2015 18:21

Where did I say I couldnt afford repairs? Because someone has something expensive they should not be annoyed when people damage it as they probably have money?

Its not a middle of the range.

I'm very good at parallel parking

But totally shit at judging whether your car will fit in a gap apparently.

Lweji · 26/07/2015 18:23

Oooh, excited.
We are talking Ferrari end here. In Crouch End?

Surely you should get a small city car for your local shopping?

Sparklingbrook · 26/07/2015 18:23

I knew people would say that's what bumpers were for, it's just like the other thread I saw. Grin

Glad I don't live in London. I think people must be good at parking here in Worcestershire because I haven't seen any of this crashing cars together whilst parking locally.

ShadowStar · 26/07/2015 18:24

I've never seen anyone bump parking. I'm pretty sure that if you tried bump parking in a driving test it would be an automatic fail.

I don't think it's an acceptable method of parking. Whether it's a high end car or a scrapheap on it's last legs.

tilliebob · 26/07/2015 18:24

I am getting a lot entertainment value from posts this weekend - snarky OP's, stealth boasts and all.

We have 1 high end and 1 low end banger car and I've never seen bump parking in my 30 years of driving. Then again, I don't live in the big metropolis Grin

RingtheBells · 26/07/2015 18:24

I'm sure you must keep your car in your garaarge OP, so you needn't worry about bumps at your house in Crouch End.

Sparklingbrook · 26/07/2015 18:25

I know nothing about Crouch End.

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 26/07/2015 18:25

Why are just cars that are 5 years or younger on the road?

I got a new (to me) car yesterday. Its a 59 reg so 6 years old. For the first time in my life I have children older than my car. However, Ive seen loads that are older than even mine. Confused

Lweji · 26/07/2015 18:26

Maybe she keeps it in the garage and it's her partner who bump parks.

MadeMan · 26/07/2015 18:26

"Pmsl, wazzock, not warlock!"

I quite like the idea of a purple cloaked, bearded old bloke in a tall stars and moon hat driving around in a wankmobile and bumping everyone's cars. Smile

JassyRadlett · 26/07/2015 18:26

I'm pretty sure my car has bumpers to protect it from limited's approach to parallel parking.

I don't know about warlocks, but there used to be a hippy looking car near where I lived.

I think it was this actual one.

No problems with bumping there.

people that bump park should have their licence taken away
ADishBestEatenCold · 26/07/2015 18:30

"Why not ADish?"

Grin IF bumpers were there in order that you could bump-park (hopefully without causing damage, but obviously that's not been the case for OP), do you not think that would only be effective if the were all at the same height????

Unfortunately, manufacturers have not got the message that bump-parking is a thing, and will persist in fitting their vehicles bumpers at different heights to their competitors' vehicles! Cads!!!

Walk along a long street with a measuring stick and you will see that I speak the truth! Grin In fact, if my eldest DC's car was bumped, most vehicles would bump it round about the light fittings, whereas the bumpers on my car are so high, they'd take your eyes out!

If you really think that bump-parking is what bumpers are for, can I suggest that you try bump-parking against an occupied police car ... or even advise your family to try it in their driving tests! Smile

(ohhh ... I'm enjoying this thread ... wish someone else would go and cook supper),

TheAssassinsGuild · 26/07/2015 18:31

Shouldn't you be calling it Accroupie Extremite, what with the large French population?

Lweji · 26/07/2015 18:31

Not only that, but bumpers should all be made of rubber.

Actually, not sure why they aren't.

limitedperiodonly · 26/07/2015 18:32

I'm not a twat soupdragon. Nor am I stupid. That's unpleasant of you to say that.

I don't know where you live but I'm just saying that I need to parallel park in crowded streets and it needs to be done unless I want a 25 minute walk home.

If people can't cope with parallel parking then maybe they should park elsewhere.

I do it with care. But I will bump - or as another poster said - 'kiss' bumpers. She didn't like that btw, but I did. Because what's the harm if there is no damage?

I've said that if someone bumps or kisses, without any damage, then what's the harm?

Particularly if I came back to my car on a crowded street as I do all the time and notice no damage at all.

RingtheBells · 26/07/2015 18:32

Also if bumpers were for this wouldn't they be rubber, not painted the same colour as the car so scratches show.

SilverNightFairy · 26/07/2015 18:35

Kissing bumpers sounds extra naughty.

< misses point of thread>

ShipShapeAhoy · 26/07/2015 18:35

I don't drive so my car (high end) is nonexistent.

Sparklingbrook · 26/07/2015 18:36

I have googled Crouch End, and have nothing interesting to report about it. Sad
