To wonder how many cover ups there are and what we're not being told?

I've never really believed in conspiracy theories and thought people who thought there is any kind of truth in them were a bit odd/strange, but since the whole Jimmy Savile thing Im finding myself wondering more and more about what we're not being told things. Years ago I used to post on another forum and people on there were always hinting that Savile was a pervert and then the moderators would come along and ban people for libel and posts would get removed, but it turns out it was all true.

Now today I've just watched an Australian current affairs show attempting to expose a pedophile ring at the very heart of the British establishment, why aren't the UK media doing this? I feel so disturbed. What aren't we being told?

AIBU to wonder how many cover ups there are actually are? Everything is starting to feel a bit unreal, like one big lie.

I tend to swing from thinking that there must be loads that's hidden from the general public to wondering how whoever it is that wants something covered up gets so many people to play along with it.

It is possible to be tried in a secret court and sent to prison with no one knowing in this country.

It is possible for your children to be taken in to care without you being able to publicize the fact.

If you are charged with possession of certain images you don't actually get to see the evidence, you are told the number of images and the level.

Pictures posted on p3 of the sun in the 1980s are classed as 'indecent images of a child' because at the time a 'child' was a person under 16 and now it is 'under 18'. A fully dressed child.

The lowest classification used on the COPINE scale is "Non-erotic and non-sexualised pictures showing children in their underwear, swimming costumes from either commercial sources or family albums. Pictures of children playing in normal settings, in which the context or organisation of pictures by the collector indicates inappropriateness."

So your holiday snaps or even a holiday brochure can be classed as 'obscene images of a child'.

And if those images are on your computer, you can be charged with 'making' an indecent image.

Now in court the SAP scale is used, but the police and press never say SAP, they say COPINE.

Under SAP a picture of a naked toddler on a beach or a baby in a bath is level 1.

In no way am I saying that no one looks at or 'makes' obscene images, or that people should not be prosecuted but I am suspicious of the number of convictions where there are 100 Level 1 images and 1 Level 4.

And I think the threat of prosecution would shut a lot of people up. Not because of the criminal record but because your children would be taken in to care, you will be banned from certain professions etc etc.

We always need an enemy to fear, so it used to be Communism, then Iraq and now ISIS

Anyone else read 1984? The constant wars where the enemies become allies and the allies enemies?

Nevercallmehun · 22/07/2015 09:48

Like you OP I used to think conspiracy theorists bonkers as I never thought it would be possible for that many people to be able to keep quiet. Well how wrong I was!

My uncle was convinced about dodgy doings with Dr David Kelly. He was one of a group of senior doctors to campaign for a proper investigation.

MehsMum · 22/07/2015 09:49

How can anyone look at all the events of the past century and beyond and not realise that , unless we are one of them, we are only good for a bullet...
Frankly, that's bollocks.

I do a lot of work in archives. A few things are censored, it's true (and sometimes you can take an educated guess at what's been removed by intelligently reading the surrounding documents) but there is a lot of evidence that the mass of the population is NOT regarded as 'only good for a bullet'. For example, in Asia, immediately after the end of World War II, there were major efforts (under the eye of Mountbatten) to bring in sufficient food to feed a starving population. Sure, there was graft and corruption, but I've read enough reports written by the lower echelons of 'The Establishment' to know that some of them worked their arses off to make sure that people were fed. I suppose the conspiracy theorists will now argue that food was provided to prevent revolt, and improve production in the colonies and so on, but believe me, I've read the paperwork, the signals and the reports, and the sheer human horror of starvation was a major motivating factor.

Also, do we seriously suppose that the Royals were the only family larking about in the garden goose-stepping and doing Nazi salutes and taking the piss out of Herr Hitler? I really can't get excited over that one.

Google Elm Guest House or Ted Heath/ Morning Cloud/Paedophile and prepare to be shocked!
Try Tony Blair/Charles Anthony Lindon Blair...cottaging!

NiceAcorns · 22/07/2015 10:01

David Kelly is one that still nags away at me

98percentchocolate · 22/07/2015 10:06

I grew up a couple of miles away from where Dr Kelly lived, and there was a lot of anger about his death. From speaking to his friends (never met his family) I don't have any doubt that there was foul play.

DoeEyedNear · 22/07/2015 10:07

None of it surprises me.

I knew about rolf Harris before it came out as I know one of his victims - who hasn't come forward to the police as far as I know. I fear there is a lot more yet to be unravelled about him and a couple of others who have as yet escaped from being arrested.

Damnautocorrect · 22/07/2015 10:08

www.exaronews.com
Are doing some great work and occasionally they make the news.

There's a lot i would question, putting the awful abuse to one side. A lot of things don't make sense, things like HS2.

Damnautocorrect · 22/07/2015 10:13

I can't get upset about a picture of the queen doing that nazi salute at a time before the war, before people knew what the nazis were planning. Before it happened.
Surely most people see that?

PassMeTheFrazzlesPlease · 22/07/2015 10:26

This is an interesting thread. I have come across quite a few online 'conspiracy theories' online that claim that Madeline McCann was kidnapped to order by a Belgian peadophile ring, that is connected to senior officials within the European Commission. At the time, when I read some of these stories, it seemed too far-fetched too possibly be true.

Now, I'm not so sure about anything being too far-fetched.

What about that secret service bloke who was found dead in a suitcase? The outcome of the inquest said he'd killed himself and then shut himself in the case - utterly bizarre!

Do they really think that we won't question these things?

Dowser · 22/07/2015 10:58

People are waking up.

It's all on that thread I posted the link too. Everything everyone has mentioned and much, much more. It would appear a lot of good people ( regardless of the person who the forum belongs too) have really done their research and and still it goes on.

These stories all tug at my heart strings. Every one needs to be documented.
It's made me question everything and not to accept anything at face value.

I still wonder about that beautiful little girl whose name you daren't mention in case the parents sue the pants off you! What was that all about. If ever there was such a convoluted story it was that one. Poor child. Heartbreaking.

So many people being protected and so many unanswered questions.

But people are asking awkward questions ...about everything. Not just the jobs in top jobs, our food, our water , what's beamed at us through the goggle box, the dumbing down...list is endless.

Dowser · 22/07/2015 11:01

I remember that...you the cat. Another bizarre case that raises more questions than it answers

SylvanianCaliphate · 22/07/2015 11:06

I've had my eyes opened.

SophiePendragon · 22/07/2015 11:21

Thanks Dowser - bit wary of that forum though due to the seemingly large numbers of weird posters! No offence, it's just a bit hardcore for me and tbf I haven't ever got beyond a glance at something that came up on a google search, so I might be quite wrong and it might be very measured and sane.

Dowser · 22/07/2015 11:47

I know Sophie you need to weed out the chaff as it attracts all sorts but there are some consistently good solid posters on there. Sweet cheeks for eg is working tirelessly to this day on discovering the truth. Others too who posted early on and I suspect burned out with the horror of it all.

Like I said ignore whose site it is ...but even he was laughed at for exposing savile and was proved right.

Fantasyland · 22/07/2015 12:48

Can someone explain the David Kelly mystery please

MamaLazarou · 22/07/2015 13:04

I've read that Portuguese Police Officer's book. It is badly translated and really not all that interesting.

achieve15 · 22/07/2015 13:26

BleachEverything - what do you mean re "factory farming"?

Fantasy - very short version - David Kelly was the source of claims which undermined govt claims of Iraq being able to mobilise weapons in 45 mins or whatever.

mimishimmi · 22/07/2015 13:56

Did anyone else also find the sudden death of Robin Cook rather odd?

paxtecum · 22/07/2015 14:06

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Wales_child_abuse_scandal

A lot of the abused named in the Jennings report went on to be drug addicts and alcoholics and a lot died as young men. It can only be speculated if there was foul play involved in their deaths.

All copies of the Jennings report were ordered to be destroyedGordon Anglesea, a N Wales retired police superintendent was jailed last week for sexual abuse. He was part of a paedophile ring.

www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jun/04/claim-of-800-childrens-bodies-buried-at-irish-home-for-unwed-mothers

This is a story I always felt was hushed up. Eight HUNDRED children's bodies found in a mass grave?! It's beyond horrendous but I've not heard a thing about it since the story was first published.

Children at the Jersey childrens' home were often visited by certain people and taken out sailing.

I wonder how many 'accidentily' fell over the side and never returned.
What convenient way to dispose of a child after abusing them.
