...to ask if any of you thought your babies WEREN'T attractive?

This is not meant to be a serious or mean post, I was talking to my friend the other day who causally mentioned that when her son was born she secretly thought he was ugly as he was bald with bulgy eyes and sticky out ears.
I was fascinated as I've NEVER heard anyone admit they thought their baby was ugly, I thought we all get slightly 'deluded mum brains' and all think our baby is the most beautiful thing ever to have been born - (when, let's face it some new borns are a bit odd looking). But now I wonder if there's others out there who didnt think that but didn't admit it either?
I'm really curious now!
Again, this isn't a nasty thread just seeing what people think as its maybe even a bit taboo?!

When ds1 was born I was bit naive and expected him to come out all pink and perfect like you see in movies etc, when in reality he was stuck in the birth canal for some time, and had the cord around his neck as well. So he came out blue, bruised, swollen and with a cone shaped head. I thought he was beautiful as most mums do but in a shocked, is he meant to look like this!? Kind of way haha. I feel a bit mean thinking that now as he is the most handsome and lovely 8year old now, but honestly I was a bit shocked! Dd and ds2 were quicker labours so weren't so squished and errm misshapen.

DS was not a bonny baby Scrawny, covered in milk spots and eczema, cradle cap flaking everywhere...that's when the scales fell from my eyes and I knew that not all babies were born beautiful.

He is a fantastically gorgeous toddler of course

I thought Dd was a bit strange looking, I'd expected a chubby little person and she was very small and thin. Witjin a few weeks though I felt differently and she filled out!

DS1 was most definitely not a pretty new born baby.
We had paediatricians practically falling over themselves to point out how funny looking he was too, just in case DH and I hadn't noticed.

DS1 looks like a perfectly normal little boy now, though

DD1 was premature and consequently tiny (3lb 10oz) so when DD2 was born at a hefty 9lb+ I secretly named her my little 'bhudda'.

(She was, and still is, incredibly cute and squishy though.)

Nope, sorry, my newborn DD was absolutely beautiful! I have to admit, DS had the traditional Winston Churchill look for the first couple of days but improved after that.

I see some unattractive (to my eyes) young babies and think 'Really, surely even their mother can see they're not pretty'. But it's entirely possible not really that people thought the same about me and mine .

This thread is making me sad! I'm expecting my pfb in October and I cant imagine my perfect little wriggler I have grown and nurtured for nine months to look anything other than angelic!

Not me but my gran, told a nurse after having my dad, that she thought he liked like a little monkey. Apparently the nurse was

I didn't think DS was ugly, as such, but I was shocked that he wasn't pretty. It made me quite defensive and even more protective of him.
DS1 asked if he would stay looking 'like that' or 'turn normal'

(He is 5 now, and beautiful, btw)

Not me but when my cousin had her baby she looked disturbingly like our grandmother (and as a result, her large, bearded great-uncle). It wasn't a good look for a little baby. (I said nothing of course!)

She's a gorgeous girl now, with some incredible hair that certainly isn't from our side of the family, but when she was small it was quite unnerving seeing my grandma or uncle glaring at me!

DS was quite ugly and scrawny with a mushroom shaped head, and I was open about how I felt. Definitely a good looking child now, though phew .

DD was so swollen when she was born she wasn't a pretty newborn but she was beautiful within a couple of weeks

Dd1 was not bonny, dd2 was gorgeous, ds1 was OK
My nephew was the ugliest baby ever!

My eldest came out looking like Gru from Despicable Me! I found it endearing but my family made me feel like a bad mum for saying what we were all thinking. He's quite a distinguished 4 year old now.

My second baby was absolutely not attractive when he was born. All his features seemed a bit out of proportion, he had wild messy hair that soon started falling out in patches (and grew back completely different) and very dry skin that often looked quite scabby. We loved him anyway, but were very relieved when he grew into his looks (he was pretty cute by the time he was 1).

Both of mine have looked very unattractive at birth, Winston Churchill describes them perfectly!

3 of my 4 weren't the best to be fair.

Ds 1 was like Winston Churchill and ds2 was a skinny hairy thing.

Dd. 1 was stunningly pretty while dd2 was a lump.

They are all stunning now.

I did have a friend who had a eye wateringly ugly baby and she kept on about how handsome he was and comparing him to my ds1. I told her they were both ugly and she cried.

Bad day.

My son had a smashed up head, with a big groove in one side of the forehead where he got stuck in my pelvis, and swelling, a black eye, etc and looked quite daft. He also had a mullet, and unfortunate hair on the top that looked somewhat like a middle aged accountant with a combover.

I was aware of his shortcomings and within about 3 months his head cranked back into shape and he opened his eyes up a bit and the combover and mullet gave way to a lovely golden fuzz and he was just scrumptious.

Now he's a very handsome 8 year old (not at all biased)

My 2nd is 7 weeks old now and was 2wks overdue. She was blotchy, red, peely, covered in milk spots and infant acne - and had that slightly alien look that newborns often have. I still thought she was gorgeous but was quite happy to admit that others might not!

My DS looked like an aunt of mine, much to my absolute horror. I remember thinking to myself, "oh well. I'll just have to get used to nursing Aunty XX"
He's lovely now, obviously.
