This is not meant to be a serious or mean post, I was talking to my friend the other day who causally mentioned that when her son was born she secretly thought he was ugly as he was bald with bulgy eyes and sticky out ears.
I was fascinated as I've NEVER heard anyone admit they thought their baby was ugly, I thought we all get slightly 'deluded mum brains' and all think our baby is the most beautiful thing ever to have been born - (when, let's face it some new borns are a bit odd looking). But now I wonder if there's others out there who didnt think that but didn't admit it either?
I'm really curious now!
Again, this isn't a nasty thread just seeing what people think as its maybe even a bit taboo?!

I have a friend with 4 adult children. She says three of them were born ugly and have remained ugly! She says the eldest was cute as a baby but puberty was harsh on him and he also now quite ugly!

HopOnTheMonnerBus · 09/07/2015 11:01

I was convinced DS1 would be ugly but he was absolutely beautiful and just like in the movies, pink and wide eyed and without a sound.
People stopped to coo over his beauty when pushing him in his pram.

...So I thought DS2 would be the same, I mean, I make gorgeous babies right?
Soooo wrong, he was squashed, covered in goo, bulgy eyed and kicking and screaming. I even shouted "there's something wrong with him!" Blush

Luckily he got cute by the time he was 2ish but until then he wasn't much of a looker.

Our nickname for dd was 'angry gollum' for the way she used to glare at me with her huge eyes as she breast fed, plus the fact that she was purple, wrinkly and had peeling skin from refusing to come out until 42 weeks.

Ds was pink and blotchy and in fact looked a little like Shaun Ryder of Happy Mondays fame. That was when he was a newborn. He grew into his looks and is now a very handsome 4.5yo and that's not just me being a deluded parent - complete strangers stop in their tracks and comment on his white blond hair and blue sparkling eyes. He also smiles and sings a lot on public which does tend to stand out.

My daughter was beautiful but my son looked like an alien. Seriously, he was so ugly it was laughable - hopefully it doesn't make me a bad mum to admit it!

He got really bad milk spots and also had a habit of opening his eyes so wide that you could see the whites of his eyes all around. He rocked the psychotic staring newborn with measles look Grin

Ironically he's a handsome little lad now.

my DS1 had a huge nose and I remember his ears kind of unfurling after a couple of days. He was an, erm, striking looking baby for a while, until he grew into his features.

He's an absolute heartbreaker now though Smile

100% none of my kids have been lookers when small. They've grown up alright but I still look at them some
Days and think you don't look great today!

StoneCuttersStreet · 09/07/2015 12:49

PS baby/toddler DD still not great looking! Grin
