Places you've not been before - anywhere in the world? Singapore was at the top of my list, but I went in 2009. Choose 3.

Vancouver

Trieste in Italy.

The Orkney Islands.

I've not been to the Isles of Scilly since I was 12! That said, I've been to the Channel Islands a few times and Herm has a very similar feel.

I'm going to cheat and add some more destinations to my original three:

Turin
Kaliningrad (used to be Koenigsberg in East Prussia, nicked by Russia after WW2)
The Aland islands

I just googled the meteora as never heard of it and now want to go. My list is getting longer and longer Smile

flightywoman · 09/07/2015 15:37

Really there's nowhere in the world I don't want to go! I mean I'm not desperate to go to Bilbao above all others, but I'd go if it was on offer!

I'd love to have gone to Syria and all of that part of the middle East, probably won't get the chance now - I have been to Jordan which was
wonderful.

Russia - would love to go, Mr Flighty has been three times so it's probably off our joint holiday list.

China - I'd love to see some of it at least, but wouldn't consider actually going until matters are resolved in favour of the Tibetans.

flightywoman · 09/07/2015 15:38

The Meteora is amazing, I went on a little coach trip during a 2-week beach package about 15 or so years ago, it really is stunning.

Sabaidee · 09/07/2015 16:05

muminhants1 - another Herm fan here! Went every year as a child and revisited this year for nostalgia's sake.

My absolute favourite place on earth.

And I say that as someone who was worked extensively around the world and travelled to over 65 countries.

You can't beat it!!

SpecificOcean · 09/07/2015 18:10

"I've been blessed with having travelled wildly"

Bsshbosh I did a bit of that in my youth too Grin

Lizzylou · 09/07/2015 18:22

Bhutan

Norway

Japan

Places I have been to that I want to take the DC to one day:

Bolivia
Peru
Australia
Vancouver/Banff/Jasper but an extended trip, with an Alaskan cruise thrown in (not done that)
Nepal
India (again, an extended trip and see more than the touristy triangle we did).

MrsEricBana · 09/07/2015 18:28

Assuming there were teleporters:

  • Japan
  • Iceland
  • Outer Hebrides
ajandjjmum · 09/07/2015 18:28

Been fortunate enough to visit lots of places - the one I would love to return to is the Maldives.

I have this great idea of travelling from the UK down to Southern Spain, across to Tangier and drive through Africa to Cape Town. DH is convinced that I wouldn't get to the end alive - but would be a great trip!

downgraded · 09/07/2015 18:41

aj I did something similar except at the time there was civil unrest in Chad so we flew over that bit. It was amazing and a real adventure.

You need a land rover with a roof tent. They are the dogs bollocks Smile

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 09/07/2015 18:47

What a lovely thread

I'd love to go to Rio, to see the Carnival

Venice - legend has it my great great great great great grandfather was born there

And I love skiing, but only been once so would like to go back to Courchevel then to other great resorts

New York, Miami and Las Vegas
Canada
Japan

actually too many to list. but it's more like a wish list, not a bucket listWink

ajandjjmum · 09/07/2015 18:51

So downgraded - did you see loads of snakes - that's the only thing that worries me! It must have been amazing

SaveOurBogBrushes · 09/07/2015 18:52

Mauritius and Burma are the first two that spring to mind.

turdfairynomore · 09/07/2015 19:00

Australia
Rio
And the absolute wild card......Everest base camp! Am obsessed by books about Everest but would get a nose bleed climbing the stairs!! It's daft as I'd really love to see Everest itself-and you can't do that from base camp-but just to be there, to "feel" her presence, to tell the sherpas how amazing they are-especially the Ice Doctors who I idolise through books!! It'll never happen-and I can take comfort in knowing that I won't have added to the rubbish tip that it's become!!

downgraded · 09/07/2015 19:08

aj no I don't remember seeing any snakes at all actually!

Lots of wild animals though and lots of camel spiders Smile

Twowrongsdontmakearight · 09/07/2015 19:20

Australia for the animals and Great Barrier Reef.
Egypt for the history and Red Sea snorkelling.
British Columbia for bear and whale watching

(And Iceland for the Northern lights. I'm 50 this year and hope that DH has taken the hint!)

jay55 · 09/07/2015 20:40

When I next have enough time for a good stint I want to go back to Chile then on to Easter Island, fiji and New Zealand.

WyrdByrd · 09/07/2015 21:18

Cuba
Paris
Somewhere I'm more or less guaranteed to see the Northern Lights

WyrdByrd · 09/07/2015 21:20

Forgot New York with a side trip to Pittsburgh thrown in to visit the Andy Warhol museum.

Lokiintheclouds · 09/07/2015 22:20

turdfairynomore - I have the same obsession with K2!

Also, Antartica & South pole
Ushuaia
Alaska
Siberia
Appalachia
Montana/Wyoming
Chile & Peru!

Ironfloor · 10/07/2015 20:23

Heidiland on the Swiss alps
Arctic to view the aurora borealis
Orlando Disneyworld
