To tell on my friend re Accutane off internet?

Hello.
My friend has had moderate acne on chin, neck and chest since a teen. Her gp refused referral to dermatologist for Accutane due to history of depression. Friend told me she now ordered some off internet. Wibu to tell her mum? In case she goes suicidal? Shld I report to police to intercept illegal package?

Ps friend has tried everything else gp will prescribe apparently. What if this wld actually help her???

How old are you both?

How old is said friend?
Do you know all of her medical history?
How old are you?
Who do you have to speak to, who,could give you proper medical advice?
Do you know her GP?
Other health worker?

GP do not refer to dermatologist regarding a specific drug. Your friends acne either warrants specialist treatment or it doesn't.
The police don't intercept parcels of

She is early 30s but I know her mum. I don't know her gp or her medical history except that she has had "moderate" depression.

I'm not an expert but I thought you could take roaccutane with a history of depression. You just have to be monitored more carefully.

Could she not have seen a different GP?

Have replied on general health thread as someone who has previously taken roaccutane and suffered depression

Like I said it's not up to the GP , only a dermatologist can prescribe roaccutane. The GP does not refuse to refer due to not agreeing with a specific drug.
Maybe do your research properly before posting your little fables.

It doesn't really make sense. Why would you be referred to a specialist just for a specific drug? Even if her GP referred her to a dermatologist then surely they would still want to try other things before roacccutane?

So do all GPs follow the rules?

HOWEVER

I've had 2 courses of roaccutane in the past decade. Both from a dermatologist. It's (apparently) one of the most toxic drugs they give to people who are not potentially gravely ill. I had to have a blood test before, during, and after the course, to check my liver wasn't failing. I had to have monthly pregnancy tests, as pregnancy on this drug is seriously dangerous - the drug has catastrophe effects on a foetus. Basically, if you get pregnant, you have to have an abortion. I had various unpleasant side effects, and if she is not under the care of a doctor she may struggle.

She is a fool if she does this.

As Seven has said, roaccutane can only be prescribed by a dermatologist. It's not to be fucked with and requires serious commitment - the risk of birth defects if you get pregnant whilst taking it is high and it has some really unpleasant side effects. Your liver function needs monitoring whilst on it too. I was referred by my GP and the dermatologist wrote the prescription, but said I would think it over and decided to send the script back to the dermatologist with a "thanks, but no thanks" letter. The consultant respected my decision, as he agreed it's not for everyone. There's no way I'd order it off the internet and take it without proper medical supervision. Your friend is an idiot.

I don't even care if the OP is a troll if this thread stops someone else ordering roaccutane off the internet.

How would you even order it off the internet anyway? Surely it can't be legal.
