I've just read that they ARE divorcing. I was hoping it was all vicious rumour. They seemed like a genuine, real couple. Can nobody ever stay married in Hollywood? Hmm
It's coming to something when Warren Beatty, Warren Beatty , is an example of marital solidarity.

Jennifer used to be married to Scott Foley aka the incredibly hot Captain Jake from Scandal!

DustBunnyFarmer · 01/07/2015 11:13

I don't find Scott Foley hot. He reminds me too much of the original Thunderbirds puppets, all lantern-jaw, big forehead, big eyes and five o'clock shadow.

Sansarya · 01/07/2015 11:14

I wouldn't kick him out of bed...

glowfrog · 01/07/2015 11:23

Where do you people go to get your information people are gambling or cheating etc?!

I must be so naive.

Bue · 01/07/2015 12:51

they did seem like a lovely, solid, non-attention-seeking couple, as normal as normal gets in their line of work.

This absolutely does not describe JG and BA in any way, shape or form. It's the pap image they tried to project with all the constant trips to the farmers' market, but his massive issues and extramarital activities have been notorious for YEARS.

Ahem, their 10th wedding anniversary was two days ago and they live in California. The timing here of the announcement here is everything.

EachandEveryone · 01/07/2015 13:01

Meryl Streep has been married for over thirty years. Goldie Hawn has been with Kurt for the same amount of time. It's a myth I tell you.

Hollywood stars spend weeks on end away from their families, with days often spent simulating sex with very attractive colleagues.

They also get 9852 times the amount of attention from would be suitors than your average Joe, or Joanna.

No idea why so many Hollywood marriages hit the skids.

fiercebadrabbit · 01/07/2015 13:40

Hollywood couples spent masses of time apart and are surrounded by acolytes blowing smoke up their arse continually telling them how incredible they areand never saying no. It is not a basis for a marriage. They also have a lot of money and so divorcing doesn't create any financial issues along the lines of but where will I live, will I have to go back to work full time etc.

The couples who stay out of the limelight do seem to make a better go of things.

JillBYeats · 01/07/2015 13:43

Bruce Springsteen has been married to (lucky) Patti since 1991.

I do think it is more remarkable when famous couples manage to stay married. They are not held together by financial restraints like ordinary folk and they have/need ego massaging in a way that you don't necessarily get from being part of the furniture/married for a long time.

Also I am in my early 40's and don't know contemporaries who are separated or divorced. I am in Ireland (which does count even though most of my friends aren't practicing catholics) but am including friends in the UK and US. I think if I didn't have financial restraints/family pressure/young children I might be the first amongst my friends! (especially now that Ben might be available)

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 01/07/2015 13:47

The BBC announcement f*cked me right off, all about Ben's achievements and bugger all about hers.

FraggleHair · 01/07/2015 13:50

I'm hard pushed to think of a film that Jennifer Garner's been in to be honest.

FraggleHair · 01/07/2015 13:54

I've just looked at her imdb page, the films she's been in are very B list.

Sansarya · 01/07/2015 13:54

13 going on 30 is the one that immediately comes to mind, although I know there's been others. I think she's still best known for the TV series Alias. I never watched it but apparently she was very good indeed.

mrsmalcolmreynolds · 01/07/2015 13:55

Really Fraggle? Juno and Catch Me If You Can for starters!

nigelslaterfan · 01/07/2015 13:57

She had a thankless small role in the Dallas Buyers' Club but what a brilliant film

(pause for full bodily prostration in front of my becandled home altar of worship to the God that is Jared Leto)

JillBYeats · 01/07/2015 13:58

"Catch and Release"!!!

FraggleHair · 01/07/2015 14:02

mrsmalcolmreynolds I saw some of Juno but had to switch it off due to the overwhelming twee, but it did quite well in the box office so I'll give her that one.

But I'd still say she's a solid B List actor. My main association with her is her marriage. No doubt because she's taken time off to have kids and stay at home whist hubby's been whooping it up at the casinos!

FraggleHair · 01/07/2015 14:03

Jared Leto and Nigel Slater, that's quite a taste range you've got nigelslaterfan!

nigelslaterfan · 01/07/2015 14:06

I don't I am not a carnal fan of La Slater! Oh he bats for the other side and does not wet my whistle.

Jared Leto, I don't even know what I feel for him, but it isn't lust! I just worship is beauty.

No, I'm much more of a manly man girl. I actually think Baffleck is pretty gorgeous, more so that you can't see his Arsechin.

nigelslaterfan · 01/07/2015 14:08

Prejudice view - I am sure that GarJen played herself in Juno, I don't think that anal control freakery was acting.

minniebar · 01/07/2015 14:08

Alias is really good! Bit dated now and kinda hokey but if you're happy to suspend your disbelief it's worth a look. And she kicks arse, literally and figuratively

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 01/07/2015 14:18

LOL@ John Travolta GrinGrinGrin that made my day!

Bue · 01/07/2015 14:46

John Travolta's long-lasting marriage is the funniest thing I've seen on MN in ages!
