be gutted about Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner?

I've just read that they ARE divorcing. I was hoping it was all vicious rumour. They seemed like a genuine, real couple. Can nobody ever stay married in Hollywood? Hmm
It's coming to something when Warren Beatty, Warren Beatty , is an example of marital solidarity.

Ed Byrne and Christy Turlington. Not Ed Byrne the comedian. Another guy, an actor. They've been married for nearly 20 years I think?

Hollywood seems to be like everywhere else - some stay married, some don't.

Affleck allegedly gambles a lot. I read a fascinating interview with Molly Bloom who used to run high-end gambling parties for celebs in which she talked about it all. According to her, Tobey Maguire was the most unpleasant.

Ed Burn was in that romantic comedy recently where the two singletons decided to have a baby as she was 40ish but raise it as friends. It had Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig, Chris O'Dowd etc as the married with friends. Cannot for the life of me remember what it was called.

Sansarya, I remember reading an article about him years ago, he'd been in a couple of really low budget (but really good films) and I thought he was lovely. He even had a lovely voice.

Ed Burns, who I always think is Ben Affleck, but the hotter version... Married since 2003.

Adding to the list, Hugh Jackman (married in 1996) who seems absolutely lovely (the muscles/general hotness don't hurt, but he can sing and dance too!).

I hate the word "Gutted" what does it really mean - I stopped going to Slimming World as it was full of women being "Gutted" because they had put a pound on that week - get a grip

It saddens me that divorce rate is so high in general. Most long married famous couples seem to be either 1 famous, 1 not or couples who keep their private life private.

I've disliked BA ever since not long after he and JG got together, when he was so jealous of her working with her on off ex MV on Alias that he had her threaten to quit if he wasn't fired, he then supposedly encouraged her to quit anyway after they had dc1 as he wanted her to stay home with the DC.

hollywood marriages are under more pressure than those out of the spotlight.

They spend too much time apart and they have to cop off with attractive people for a living.

Also he sounds like he has addiction problems and Garner looks like she doesn't. I think she's kicked out his ass. Tough for the kids but maybe she couldn't live with whatever his thing is.

Thank you for starting this thread Northernlurker - my reaction to the news was exactly the same as yours so I turned to Mumsnet hoping I wasn't alone! MN has not failed me Smile

No, I don't know them, never met them but they did seem like a lovely, solid, non-attention-seeking couple, as normal as normal gets in their line of work. I think it's sad. At least they seem sensible enough to make it as painless as possible for their kids - the article I read said he's moving out of the family home into another house on their plot.

Lovely, lovely Jeff Bridges and his wife have been married since 1977. I heard him tell a nice story about how they had met on a set. About ten years later someone who'd been working on the film was going through old photos and found a picture of them talking and sent it to JB, it turned out to be the first time they'd spoken.

He told it better but it really warmed the cockles of my heart as he was so pleased about it.

FWIW I love Jennifer Garner, can't stand Ben Affleck - I was always disappointed that she was not with Michael Vartan Grin

Same here. Both of her first 2 pregnancies also coincided with mine, so I've kind of kept an eye on her career and family in the media over the years. She strikes me as quite down to earth, especially for a celeb.
