Friend today was Hmm when she saw my nails and said at 28 I was circa 10 years too old to have my nails painted like this.

Opinions please, and feel free to share picture of equally age inappropriate nails.

Thank you for the birthday wishes and cake!

jeanmiguelfangio · 25/06/2015 10:29

Happy birthday Hissy!

I knit for a living so having nail polish chips and drives me mad, but when I do have it, there must be glitter! I normally have a French style and then glitter all over! I'm 29! I used to have my nail pierced in my teens! I've moved on a bit since then! Oh and I had different colours on each nail!
My toenails are pretty much always polished. I think they look nice! At the moment they are navy blue with holographic glitter. I go crazy on my feet, always makes me smile

littleostrich · 25/06/2015 10:40

I will have glittery nails into my 30s and beyond. I am in full support of glitter.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 25/06/2015 13:34

Just been out and bought the blue polishSmile.

Not going to put a current pic of mine up as they are bare and a bit trashed from gardening, but this is them last Christmas.

Can I derail slightly - your nails look fine to me and your hands are a lot like mine. A colleague the other day said "ooh you've got those weirdly long middle fingers and all your fingers are different lengths. That middle finger is like an ET finger". Hmm. WTF does that mean? Isn't everyone's middle finger longer than the others?

carabos · 25/06/2015 14:13

ET's finger.

I love all the nails but the Hungry Caterpillar ones - just WOW! I am 46 and do lots of bright colours and glitter, although diagonal stripes is the nearest I've come to nail art. They are a boring red today though (needed to match yesterday's work outfit).

If you are too young for fancy nails at 28 you won't have long enough to get good at painting them! I've been painting mine for 36 years and I'm still not very good at nail art.

Carabos here's a link on finger lengths, there's all sorts of info out there on it, but no you don't have an "ET finger"!

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes!

Fabellini I missed your post! We share a birthday! Have a super day today!

Hissy · 25/06/2015 14:34

I have a gel kit at home, it's FAB - so lasts for WEEKS but I haven't managed to do any nail art yet... I need to look at that though.

I do have colour change nail varnish which I adore!

Problem is that if I put nail varnish on my fingers, the nail ends up coming away from the nail bed. my nails are still recovering from last year. Feet are OK though, which is just as well!

I love the Hungry Caterpillar nails so much I may explode. I'm 36, nothing on nails at the moment, but often have sparkly / multicoloured / very bright. Short stumpy fingers, short stumpy hands. I don't care.

I did all 9 of the minion "red noses" on my nails this year, for red nose day at work. I'm mid 30s. Bollocks to the ageists!

TelephoneIgnoringMachine · 25/06/2015 15:18

Has anyone ever done water marbling? I'd love to but it looks messy & time consuming.

specialsubject · 25/06/2015 16:35

no age limit on nails - but how do any of you actually do anything?

as soon as I can feel my nails beyond the fingertips I dash for the file. Really annoying to have them long.

Cliffdiver · 25/06/2015 17:05

Ravioli those toes are fantastic. DD1 would love them!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 25/06/2015 17:27

I only let mine grow to about 2mm of white tip, which is about level with the ends of my fingers, but you can still have lots of fun with polishes.

RavioliOnToast · 25/06/2015 18:00

thank you cliff, they were done with cheapy L'Oréal polishes Grin

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 25/06/2015 18:51

Dammit, now I've had to go and buy some bloody holographic nail polish off eBay. I do NOT need it. I have about a million bottle of polish (which I haven't used for ages as my poxy nails split), I really shouldn't get any more! Grin

RavioliOnToast · 25/06/2015 18:53

I have gosh holographic, it's fab
