Friend today was Hmm when she saw my nails and said at 28 I was circa 10 years too old to have my nails painted like this.

Opinions please, and feel free to share picture of equally age inappropriate nails.

Talismania · 24/06/2015 22:31

Someone once told me the glittery signature nail thing was only good for teens. Not sure why and she couldn't say why either'

I still wear my nails like that anyway.

sistersofpercy your nails are amazing I absolutely love them!!

shadowfax07 · 24/06/2015 23:16

I'm 45 and have always been a bit of a rebel, if you like your nails, who cares what anyone else thinks? Mine are currently way too short for my liking (chemotherapy has affected them badly), but give me 6 months or so, and they'll be long and painted again!

SistersofPercy · 24/06/2015 23:18

They are false i confess. I love nail Polish, I have about 200 bottles of the stuff. Can I grow my nails? Not a hope.
Problem is im always drilling something or glueing or building something or other so I break them. I started painting falsies for fun and special occasions though I have worn day to day nails with minions and the like on them. They make me smile and brighten a dull day.

I'm seeing a pattern emerging. So is having one nail different to the others this year's thing then? Hmm

MrsTrelis · 24/06/2015 23:30

This is the last photo I have of mine. Although most recently they were a sort of pastel mint colour & before that red.

Waffly 'this year's thing' has been a 'thing' for the last twenty years...

BuggersMuddle · 24/06/2015 23:46

Ignore your friend. Nails are one thing where I don't think age really comes into it much. Nails are nails. I have shit nails (but I still try to make the best of them). My aunt in her late 70s with fab nails and long fingers can pull off bright and glittery fat better than I can with my small, square hands and thin nails.

BTW I am 34 and still wear glittery nails (and hot pink, and crackles...). I didn't think stopping glitter at 30 was A Thing. In fact I'm fairly sure it's not unless you're liberally applying it to your face / hair of a morning before pitching up for your senior management job Grin

ShadowsCollideCantLogInToMN · 24/06/2015 23:57

Cliffdiver, you are in no way too old for those nails! How bizarre that anyone would think so. They are lovely.

Last time I had my nails done was just before Christmas. I had long-ish, kind of tapered square acrylics (hmm, I'm describing them really well, aren't I) with colour changing nail polish. It was gunmetal when I was cold and silver when warm. With iridescent glitter on top Grin. That was a week before I turned 30, so if you're too old for nice nails, I'm definitely too old! The only downside was that the acrylics absolutely flittered my nails, they're still in a state months later. It'll be gels for me in future.

SistersofPercy, your Very Hungry Caterpillar nails are fecking excellent.

Mine are black. Cos I'm still a goth 20 years later.

Wagglebee · 25/06/2015 01:37

Absolute bollocks! Nails can be whatever colour you like with as much glitter, stuck on bits, designs as you want.

I like my nails shortish and dark berry red for Winter and pink in Summer but because I can't paint them myself I don't have them done as often as I'd like so they're mainly well groomed and clear.

So until I master painting mine I love seeing what everyone else chooses. All these pics are brilliant. Especially loving Su multi sparkles, the crab matching ones and the hungry caterpillar. Grin

Cliffdiver · 25/06/2015 02:19

Sending you Flowers and well wishes shadow.

join my fingers most definitely aren't slender, but when my nails are done it makes them look marginally better. Ribbon round a turd and all that.
