Friend today was Hmm when she saw my nails and said at 28 I was circa 10 years too old to have my nails painted like this.

Opinions please, and feel free to share picture of equally age inappropriate nails.

I'm 43 and love bright sparkly nails.

I'm not into the ring finger being a different colour tho.
But you're in your twenties, you're not too old for anything.

CakeNinja · 24/06/2015 21:23

The nail lady i see is forever banging on about having a 'signature nail' Confused
Looks weird to me, but I'm more boring in my nail taste. I like either bright red or a coral colour. No glitter, no signature nail colour, no stamping, no nail art, just plain.
It's all personal taste.

However, I do regularly tease my mum (who is 50) that she is too old for the jazzinese of her nails - all glitter, colour changing, stamping, signature nails, the bloody works! I do say it in jest though, and I know that it's just because I'm more boring than she is!

If you like them, you wear them with pride :)

These were my Xmas nails last year....I'm 35Grin

I had these for Valentine's Day this year. I'm 30. Yours look fab, I'd wear something like that. Your friend is being prissy and old fashioned Smile

I also don't get the ring finger being a different colour. Just looks like you ran out of the polish you used on the other four fingers to be honest.

But otherwise I don't think any age is too old for this look. I don't like it myself, I am a pale pink or beige polish girl myself but that is also due to not particularly liking my hands and nails and wanting them to look groomed rather than the highlight of my look iyswim.

Babymamamama · 24/06/2015 21:25

I do mine with gel - red carpet and I've tried all different colours. But I really don't like the one nail mismatching I'm afraid. I just don't get it! Can anyone explain?

Sallystyle · 24/06/2015 21:26

Super long nails!!

They were far too long really and I went much shorter after a couple of months. I was 33 here.

Actually could imagine having my nails painted like pasturesgreen if my nails were as lovely, uniform and neat as hers!

Pedestriana · 24/06/2015 21:29

I'd do it. I'm well past 40. They're my nails and I'll paint them how I like :)

pasturesgreen · 24/06/2015 21:30

I went to work in these today. Bright orange with metallic teal triangles. I'm a lawyer. Nobody batted an eyelid (company dress code doesn't say anything about nail colours).
It really doesn't matter.

cariadlet · 24/06/2015 21:34

None of the photos are my taste. I really don't get the fad for bright nails, different colours on different nails, pictures and patterns etc. It just seems a bit tacky and odd.

But it doesn't matter what I think, or what anyone thinks apart from whoever is having their nails done. And 28 seems VERY young to me - definitely not time to start worrying about being too old for anything.

waceystills · 24/06/2015 21:35

This is like the eye thread, love these type of threads!

Here are mine, a bit boring compared to some of these, and I love your sparkles OP.

I have never seen this having the ring finger painted differently before, is it a new trend?

I have nail envy now, mine never bloody grow

Cliffdiver · 24/06/2015 21:37

I don't know where the statement nail came from. I'm not one to 'follow fashion' usually.

I think the ring-finger-statement-nail can sometimes look a bit harsh, which is why I often do my middle nail as a 'blend' between my ring finger nail and my other nails.
