Every year it seems to be the same, we have the longest day June 21 or thereabouts and you can count on one hand how many days you've actually spent not wearing a cardi, shrug, light jacket or warm fleece and have gone bare legged in sandals and a sun dress.

So far my tally is one!

We've had a couple of days away and the house is freezing. The warmest room ie the one with only 1 outside wall shows a temp of 19 which means the other rooms ie the living room is about 14 .

So with leaden grey skies outside, and a shower of rain...the heating is well and truly on.

Sunny now, ok temp but saw loads of woolly hats and winter coats yesterday. Camping in Germany next week and keep refreshing the weather forecast - if it's not warm there then going to France instead. Those two weeks are my summer!

From the posts here I didn't realise how diverse our climate is. As another poster said we could move.

Silly us. We moved here FROM CALIFORNIA!!!!!!
Evidently, i love this man a LOT.

This summer has been rubbish, even the warm days this week haven't exactly broken records. Going to Scandinavia to see family this summer, at least it will be a bit chillier there and be comparably warmer on our return.

It depends not just on the weather but on your own temperament too. My DM could (in her own words) crawl up the chimney & still not be warm, whereas I'm fine at both low & high temps

The number of times I've heard "hope you get the weather you're expecting", wrt what I'm wearing, bores the hell out of me.

Sun came out about 4 pm after it had rained a fair bit of the day. Managed to get a bit of the garden ( wilderness) done.

Lovely summer evening and actually had no heating on since this morning.

Hope tomorrow is better. I'm taking grandsons to the park ;-)

Oh and here's a bit more irony . I have friends and relatives in Wales and Dorset and the number of times we arrive there only to be told

'oh you should have been here last week it was beautiful. Red hot'

And

' you always bring the rain with you.

Grrrrr! I had to buy a warm dress when I was in Dorset one time as my summer ones were too lightweight for the bad weather I had brought with me..

Early last August we went to my friends wedding. Same old story. It's been beautiful for six weeks. On the morning of the wedding the heavens opened and it poured down. The wedding party were also walking to the country church and then back home to the marquee on the field.

Thankfully the rain stopped an hour before the ceremony and the sun came out.

When I called my daughter later on, back home the whole day had been glorious.

I'm like the words of this song.

Everywhere you go you always take the ( bad ) weather with you.....

Yep. It's on here.

Well, is set to go off now - but I will see how I feel. Just back from a run, so am quite warm myself.

Was chilly outside earlier - and to add to that have run for 50 mins in a fine drizzle.

Summer ?

Just heard and diamond announce on tv that it could be the coldest summer for 60 years if it continues like this ( and it looks like it will )

Heating was on last night for an hour. We had our summer solstice party in fleece and anoraks. We usually go on till about 10-30 pm but packed in at 8 as we were frozen.

Heating to go on shortly :-(

We just seem to get all the weather, every day (Midlands). Hang washing out in sun, immediately starts to rain, get it in and hang it inside, sun comes back out, then thunder and lightning Hmm Hail a few days ago Shock it's impossible to dress accurately. I'm just in layers every day and putting both sunglasses and a rain poncho in my handbag!

Just put heating back on here. Sick of 16 degrees. Aim to reach 18-19 then will switch it off.

Bunbaker · 22/06/2015 21:18

16 degrees would be nice. We have had 12 degrees here today.

I'm in West Yorkshire, and it is pretty chilly. There is the odd nice day but grey, dull skies and showers are the norm. There is also a constant cold wind.
Today has been absolutely freezing, to the extend I've dug my gloves back out as I am sick of having cold hands.
Tomorrow is supposed to be 19 degrees, not holding my breath
