Every year it seems to be the same, we have the longest day June 21 or thereabouts and you can count on one hand how many days you've actually spent not wearing a cardi, shrug, light jacket or warm fleece and have gone bare legged in sandals and a sun dress.

So far my tally is one!

We've had a couple of days away and the house is freezing. The warmest room ie the one with only 1 outside wall shows a temp of 19 which means the other rooms ie the living room is about 14 .

So with leaden grey skies outside, and a shower of rain...the heating is well and truly on.

Boiling in mid wales. Has been for weeks Grin

bigbluebus · 18/06/2015 19:29

I'm cold here too. It looks lovely outside but there is a very cold Northerly wind so if I open the windows it is very chilly indoors.
I am sure that this house has become much colder in the summer since the cavity wall insulation was put in. I wouldn't mind it keeping us cool if it is very hot outside but it is not.

OrangeVase · 18/06/2015 19:29

London - spent day sitting by the river drinking chilled prosecco. Haven't had heating on since about April.beautiful weather.

ThisTimeIAmMagic · 18/06/2015 19:33

Freezing here too. We had the heating on for 2 hours last night it was bloody freezing. Why did we move so far north again? Wink

Shockers · 18/06/2015 19:34

NW, windy and grey. I have worn short sleeves on about 7 occasions this year...

We are so desperate, we are thinking of trading our tent for a caravan...

I am over in Fife and it is freezing today (and all the days before).

Runningupthathill82 · 18/06/2015 19:50

It's boiling hot in Yorkshire, haven't had the heating on for weeks. Currently sitting here in shorts and a vest.
So not really a north/south divide - though I can see how yorks would seem southern if you're in Scotland

DidoTheDodo · 18/06/2015 19:56

Kent, boiling. I am really quite suntanned just from doing the garden.
I haven't had the heating on since about February.

Fluffy40 · 18/06/2015 19:58

Actually got a bit pink today in a London park.

HellRunner · 18/06/2015 20:08

Surrey - today is the first day I have not worn a cardi.

Orangeanddemons · 18/06/2015 20:09

Where is it hot in Yorkshire? I'm in S.Yorks, and it was 9degrees this morning, and is currently about 11. It's cold

KirstyJC · 18/06/2015 20:13

Wow - I didn't realise it was so different up North! Mind you, I haven't really gone north of Bristol for over a decade! Grin

I'm in Devon, we turned the heating off at the end of March but have had the gas fire on some evenings up until about a month ago. I am currently sitting in a T shirt and shorts, with the window and back door open, feeling comfortable for the first time today as it's been so hot. The kids have all smelt of suncream all week!

I think I'll stick to living down here. Hope your cockles warm up soon OP. Smile

Bakeoffcake · 18/06/2015 20:15

I am a northern, now living in the south, I would never go back up north as I wouldnt be able to cope with the weather. (It's been blooming boiling here today)

Bakeoffcake · 18/06/2015 20:16

Come and move down here! Smile

GirlsTimesThree · 18/06/2015 20:19

We've got the heating on too. We've probably had three 'summer' days this year. The number of times I've had to unwind the washing from the line or from the sheep field because of the wind is ridiculous.
I'm counting down the months and days until I can move away from here - 23 months and six days. Can't bloody wait!

Straitjacket · 18/06/2015 20:27

Birmingham, IMO, hasn't been all that great today. Not all day anyway. I was up and at the hospital early this morning and if I hadn't had a hoodie on, I would of been chilly with the winds. Especially when the sun was hiding. Even DS2 (3yo) done his jacket up saying he was cold at around 11.30!

It did warm up in the afternoon though once the sun came back out. Wasn't chilly enough for heaters, and hasn't been since around the end of April!

Today could of been down to me being ill though, but DS said he was cold so I assumed it wasn't just me as he is fine. It wouldn't of been too bad if not for the winds!

Momagain1 · 18/06/2015 20:28

I think Scotsnet has had a weekly thread on this. Last week I posted something quietly optimistic about the weather, i actually wore sandals once last week. But now we are back in sweaters and wool socks again.
As a foreigner from warmer places, I have turned the heat lower and lower, and set the clock for less and less time. Trying to toughen up! Turned it off last week and trying to keep it off.

Still have the winter duvet, the winter jammies, and a hot water bottle at night. Still wearing a thermal undershirt even on the days I tell myself I can do without a cardi or jumper (which I usually regret).

dementedma · 18/06/2015 20:39

Fucking Scotland. Fucking shit, cold weather. Mid June and have yet to wear a summer dress or sandals.....

Shockers · 18/06/2015 21:09

I think that in Northern England regions, it's a Pennine divide at the moment.

BabyGanoush · 18/06/2015 21:12

It's been warm and dry in Hants for weeks on end now. I have worn summer dresses/bare legs, gone out dog walking in T-shirt and shorts....I need more summer clothes.

It's almost too dry here, garden is parched. Used up half a bottle of suncream already. (yeah, smug smuggy smuggerson, that's me Wink)

springsprang · 18/06/2015 21:14

Summer was on Tuesday morning on the Yorkshire coast.

RavioliOnToast · 18/06/2015 21:22

I'm snuggled in a giant jedi dressing gown with thr heating on full blast

MorrisZapp · 18/06/2015 21:28

Edinburgh here. It's beyond shite. Feels bizarre watching tennis, Chelsea flower show on telly in winter. Light really late but you forget why. Oh yeah, it's 'summer'.

keeptothewhiteline · 18/06/2015 21:28

I have gone to bed early - and I have my electric blanket on!!
