Every year it seems to be the same, we have the longest day June 21 or thereabouts and you can count on one hand how many days you've actually spent not wearing a cardi, shrug, light jacket or warm fleece and have gone bare legged in sandals and a sun dress.

So far my tally is one!

We've had a couple of days away and the house is freezing. The warmest room ie the one with only 1 outside wall shows a temp of 19 which means the other rooms ie the living room is about 14 .

So with leaden grey skies outside, and a shower of rain...the heating is well and truly on.

Edinburgh...not dinburgh. So cold I can't type.

( just kidding on that one) but I am wearing a thick fleece with a sea salt kind of other fleece on top while the house gets rid of the chill

And while I'm ranting, I may as well finish ....if someone were to turn this country round 180 degrees so Scotland looks over to the coast of France and the south coast faces Norway etc.....we'd still be inthe same spot!

And I'd still be moaning!

East Sussex and it's been boiling all day. It was my class's turn to go swimming today in our school's outdoor pool and they had a lovely time. I'm sitting here in a sleeveless summer dress and have had bare legs and sandals all day.

Also East Sussex. Lovely, but not really, truly 'boiling'. Would have to be over 28C to term it boiling.

I just wish the sea would get a move on & warm up - it's only 15C & I don't sea swim until it's at least 17 (& that's pretty nippy).

Freezing cold here- 11 degrees. Thankfully I have a big conservatory which heats up really well as long as there is sunshine.

Feel your pain, OP. Edinburgh here. I was shaking my fist at the sky this afternoon - it is fucking FREEZING today, blasting icy wind off the north sea.

Classed Birmingham as midlands and Edinburgh to Birmingham just 300 miles!

And jollyphonicsvis roasting down there.

This is the reason why I'm going abroad for my wedding! Today could have been my wedding day!

We switched our heating off in April and am sitting here now in Somerset with the french window wide open as it has been all day. Currently 24c in our bedroom.

Dowser such bad timing with the Edinburgh visit. We had our summer last week up until Friday.

10 degrees here Sad

It is always in spring/early summer that I miss my home climate the most (Germany) - you'd think after 22 years I'd get used to the climate, but no, I just get more annoyed HmmBlush[pointless]

North Wales here. No heating on since mid April. But I've only worn sandals rather than boots to work on about 10 occasions. And I currently have a blanket over my legs.

Balmy here (Hampshire), actually wore cut offs and sandals today, obviously with a cardy but it would have to be 30 degrees for me not to wear a cardy or equivalent....

IT would have to be 35 degrees though for me to even contemplate shorts....and my hands are always cold.

YANBU I'm on the west coast of Scotland and it is freezing here really cold and windy. We had 3 days of summer last week and it was bliss.

I'm near Paisley, and it is bloomin' Baltic here today. Dh wore wellies, and needed a coat and jumper, when he went out to walk the dogs, and ds2 has just gone for a run, wearing his long, thermal underfugs.

The first year we moved up here, June was amazing - beautiful weather every day, and the boys were out every day after school, jumping in the river with their friends - I had visions of a perfect, Enid Blyton summer of them playing out all day, and coming home exhausted but happy - but the very day that school broke up, it started raining, and basically didn't stop for 6 weeks.
