AIBU?

Aibu to be utterly pig sick of still having the heating on in June!

Every year it seems to be the same, we have the longest day June 21 or thereabouts and you can count on one hand how many days you've actually spent not wearing a cardi, shrug, light jacket or warm fleece and have gone bare legged in sandals and a sun dress.

So far my tally is one!

We've had a couple of days away and the house is freezing. The warmest room ie the one with only 1 outside wall shows a temp of 19 which means the other rooms ie the living room is about 14 .

So with leaden grey skies outside, and a shower of rain...the heating is well and truly on.

Global warming? What total bollocks all that was.

Right with you op. In Midlothian, feels like Beyond The Wall (which I guess it is) and Winter Isn't Bloody Coming It Never Went Away.

I want to move south. Scotland is lovely but so so cold.

I'm in Midlothian too- it had been dark and very cold all day.

Our cavity wall insulation leaves us equally cursed and blessed. In the winter we use less heating but in the summer it is as you describe, OP. Rooms at 15 degrees. Only in the last week when it has finally got warm outside has it now picked up to a comfortable 17-18 degrees downstairs.

Hot and muggy here in the far west, I've still got all the windows open. We need a good sea breeze but it's as still as the proverbial mill pond.

Heating on and two hot water bottles. Confused

NW by the sea. It was 12 degrees today, not sure what it is now but it's windy and cold.

Every year the papers and tv news are full of how glorious the weather is and pics of people gallivanting about in whispy dresses whilst we sit here looking puzzled in our 100 denier tights.

Probably why I can't dress for Summer. Everything in the shops/online is either geared towards it being really hot or winter wear. I need something inbetween.

I was staying with my mother in Northumberland on Monday. I had a hot-water bottle in bed. It was chilly. It was bloody lovely.

Now I'm back at "home" in London. All humid and disgusting. Sad

I'm actually not a fan of hot weather.
Brilliant if I'm on a beach in the Maldives wearing a bikini and sipping mango smoothies. Not so great in muggy Britain.

But it'd be nice if I could put the hot water bottles away for a couple of months. Nothing too wild, just a comfortable 17 degrees or something.

We have the stove lit here in Durham. Hot water bottle last night in bed too.

Ridiculous Confused

Highlands here. We've had 3 days this year we didn't have to put the heating on. I'm happy with 17 degrees C inside the house. Most of the time the max temperature here is UP to 14 degrees C.Had enough.

W yorks here. I think summer was here last Friday for a day but otherwise cold and shit. Been wearing my wooly hat every day. Off to fort William tomorrow for my summer holiday. Camping. I think I might die.

Yeah. About that. Climate change predictions show an increased number of cooler, wetter summers in Britain....

I'm bookmarking this thread for next time I'm on a house-price related thread where people are saying they just cannot understand why everybody doesn't move north.

I'm an immigrant. Today was lovely on the London borders but not 'hot'.

West coast of Scotland here, and it's fucking freezing.
It was lovely Saturday and Sunday ,which just so happened to be the two days I did a 4 hour journey each day, with broken air con. Bastard car, bastard weather.

Lol Jassy. I was just thinking that this thread sums up the reason the south is so much more expensive pretty well!

Durham here too. Getting really fed up of this. Plus the weather forecast for here, for Thurs, was sunny - and it just wasn't. Cold, windy, spotting with rain.

At one point, I was a student here, and a fellow student friend from Argentina told me in April that she was looking forward to changing over to her summer wardrobe. I tried to let her down gently...

I'm so jealous of you lot with cold weather in the North. South East near London is hideous, we never get heat without overbearing humidity. Don't even get me started on the hell that is the tube commute. It feels like we are all living in the wrong locations on this thread.

Yeah, that's another one. They predict sun, and we just get grey cloud. Not a sign of the big orange thing...

Crikey, I'm expecting a hosepipe ban in the near future here in Sunny Southampton!

Is it something peculiar to Britain to have such extremes of climate in such short distances?

Feel sorry for you Wildings up there beyond the Wall ; D

West Yorkshire here and it's cold. I still open the windows everyday to air the house but have had the heating on most days. Come on summer...... ok spring at least!
