If someone who doesn't involve you in their child's life (like birthdays and other things) and doesnt take interest in your children's life either (doesn't acknowledge birthdays), phones you and tells you to make a cake for a big event their child is taking part in because her whole family will be there and they need a big cake. Then they give you instructions on what kind of cake they want. No invite or comments such as "we'd like you to be there too".

Isn't this incredibly rude?

Because daft sil's like you let them get away with it.

CakeLady1 · 17/06/2015 21:52

Buy one, stick a candle on it, but only because you've agreed to do a cake. Don't waste your time on making one.
Oh, and tell her to sod off next time

viva100 · 17/06/2015 21:54

OMG breastfed your baby! Like in that movie 'The hand that rocks the cradle'?? I am sooo creeped out right now!

It's too late to gracefully back out if she's bought the ingredients already. But I would write 'Love from Aunty X'! Definitely! Or buy a supermarket cake and ice it. DO NOT go out of your way to do sth special!!! She doesn't deserve it and the kid will have no clue!

guinnessgirl · 17/06/2015 21:55

people do these kind of things because they can rely on railroading people like you who won't stand up to them. FFS do not bake that cake!

Seriouslyffs · 17/06/2015 21:55

You are being a martyr.
Call her in the morning and say the ovens broken if you can't say no directly.

TelephoneIgnoringMachine · 17/06/2015 21:56

You can't do it, you're very busy/suspect you're coming down with something & don't want to spread your germs around. But look! All the ingredients, and you've found a lovely recipe that she can do. Now she can do it just how she likes it.

Seriously, tell her.

PinkSquash · 17/06/2015 21:58

Sorry, I cant make the cake, can you pop round to pick up the ingredients? Hope you find someone who can help.

It's really not difficult

threenotfour · 17/06/2015 21:59

Does she mean you don't need an invite as in it's obvious you invited? Eeewww, she breastfed your baby. Weird without asking.

cuntycowfacemonkey · 17/06/2015 22:00

They do it because they know you won't say no

Jux · 17/06/2015 22:01

Text her with cost of making it, say £50 mate's rates, cash, if not cash then it'll have to be 65.

If she refuses, then def Love from Auntie X.

MadAsgardian · 17/06/2015 22:02

I would make it then just as she is leaving with it, mention you have had a nasty bout of D&V so hope it's okGrin

ImperialBlether · 17/06/2015 22:03

Do you have a partner or a good friend? If so give them the ingredients and the address and tell them to take them back.

Just because she's bought the ingredients doesn't mean you have to make it, for god's sake!

Stop taking crap from her, OP - it's just ridiculous.

Can your dp phone and say he's organised a special surprise day out for you and so you can't do it and she needs to get the ingredients now or they stay here until next week. And while he's at it, tell her how rude she is and that she shd find someone else to put upon?

mayfridaycomequickly · 17/06/2015 22:11

Bake this

To think this is rude:
junebirthdaygirl · 17/06/2015 22:13

I see you are the person looking after the sick relative too. Do you get landed with all the jobs?

MehsMum · 17/06/2015 22:15

What may suggests. that's perfect.

Seriouslyffs · 17/06/2015 22:20

Oh yes! Call her and tell her you've been vomiting and squirting and could she bring some bleach if she wants to collect the ingredients! Grin
Please don't bake the cake.

ImperialBlether · 17/06/2015 22:23

You want to channel your inner SIL. What would SHE do if you turned up on her step with a bunch of ingredients and an order like that? Think about it and then do exactly the same.

I'd be talking to your sibling about this Hmm

bloodyteenagers · 17/06/2015 22:34

She does it because erm, you allow it.
She kept going on. You could have hung up on her.
She brought the stuff round, erm why did you even let her in.

Stop being a doormat to this loon. She wants a cake, she can pay someone else or make it herself.

Oldieandgoldie · 17/06/2015 22:36

Tell her you're too busy looking after the sick relative to make a cake!

coffeeisnectar · 17/06/2015 22:38

Make her a boobs cake.

Only1scoop · 17/06/2015 22:38

Brilliant Grin
