It's just gone too far for me. A good book series is ruined for.

Where the Stannis Baratheon storyline can go from here is anyone's guess...

i still love the show

the cutting off of Jamie's hand was far more disturbing to me, and the Theon bits

AmberFool · 11/06/2015 19:32

Grin limitedperiod

Totally agree that GRRM is the Harry Styles of the writing world! I'm not a fanatical fan so I don't can't understand that level of scary commitment to the books or GRRM. GRRM must be fed up of saying the books are the books and the show is the show. I don't mind the changes to the books if it makes sense, but a lot of it doesn't.

limitedperiodonly · 11/06/2015 20:12

Burning your daughter because of inclement weather still does not make sense to me

True. She was slip of a thing. There wouldn't be much warmth there Wink

ActiviaYoghurt · 11/06/2015 20:25

It is horribly gruesome, in one episode I saw a baby being murdered, a young boy and a decapitated head. It's horrible. I am not watching it ever again.

I don't we should become desensitised to this level of violence and can't see past the horror.

limitedperiodonly · 11/06/2015 23:44

I don't understand the desensitisation argument.

I watch GoT and various other tawdry things.

Last year I saw a woman get hit by a car right in front of me. I was a gibbering wreck.

If I'd have been desensitised, maybe I'd have been a bit more useful Hmm

BerylStreep · 14/06/2015 23:31

Well final episode in the series tomorrow night. Can't wait.

RiderOfDragons · 15/06/2015 20:09

I'm pretty sure someone will be dying tonight, I have my suspicions...

WeirdCatLady · 15/06/2015 20:18

the episode appears on Sky Go at 2am, when it is shown in America.
I watched it at 8am today.

Pleeeeeease someone watch it as I've been dying to discuss what happens ALL FUCKING DAY!!!!!!!!!.

ReadtheSmallPrint · 15/06/2015 20:28

I'm going to watch it on Now TV, err, now.

HappyGoLuckyGirl · 15/06/2015 22:24

bumbleymummy · 15/06/2015 23:25

I'm just Shock

LaurieFairyCake · 15/06/2015 23:26

I'm also Shock at them killing him

Really?!?

MrsHathaway · 15/06/2015 23:57

Pretty gentle tonight I thought. I mean, apart from the Shakespearean bit.

This series has been short, don't you think? Jon shot Mance in episode one. That doesn't feel like ten episodes ago.

MrsKitty · 16/06/2015 00:00

He'll be resurrected, surely? The horrible red headed woman will do some sort of sorcery as she's realised she was backing the wrong horse with Stannis and he'll be her new champion... surely? I can't not have him in it anymore!

bumbleymummy · 16/06/2015 00:02

I did wonder that MrsKitty.

bumbleymummy · 16/06/2015 00:03

Yes, this series definitely felt shorter. I think it just took a while for anything to really happen Confused

nocoolnamesleft · 16/06/2015 01:09

Bit boring for a season finale.

John Snow - seemed rather likely to happen this episode

Stannis - not long enough to build up a good level of seething hate (so not like when Joffrey was killed). Though I guess nice to see Brienna there.

Cersei - well, we all knew that was going to happen (the series was never going to cut out a female nude scene that was in the book). Nasty misogyny...

Arya - yep, that was going to happen

Myrcella - okay, a surprise...but not a character that seemed to be very important

Daenerys - aw, poor dragon.

Really not sure why they thought this would break the internet...

Alisvolatpropiis · 16/06/2015 07:58

Kit Harrington has explicitly said that he won't be returning next season. It is heavily hinted in A Dance with Dragons that Jon Snow won't stay dead but in the same book it is explicitly stated that Mande Rayder doesn't die, Melisandre does some Magic and the Lord of Bones (beaten to death by Tormund in Hardhorne in the show) is made to look like Mance and burned instead and they appear to have not followed that story arc. Unless that's a surprise for next series and they're going to have Mance magicked to look like Tormund...or something.

ReadtheSmallPrint · 16/06/2015 08:12

This series covered the whole of Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons.

There's loads of stuff (some a bit boring) that's been missed out. I thought that Aegon was going to be an important character, but I suppose that's not going to be the case.

I thought the series finale was actually quite good!

OP posts:
BolshierAyraStark · 16/06/2015 08:36

I wondered if the witch would bring Jon back too but KH has stated he wont be back so seems to be a non starter. Thought it was a pretty disappointing finale & yes, poor dragon.

Thancred · 16/06/2015 10:04

He's said he won't be back next series but what about the series after that? Speculation based on the books is that Jon is a warg, like Bran, and that he'll go into Ghost for a while before becoming human again. If the TV writers go down that route then KH wouldn't be needed for the next series but would be back the next one when he gets re-humaned.

bumbleymummy · 16/06/2015 10:12

I was thinking along those lines Thancred!

JoffreyBaratheonFirstofHisName · 16/06/2015 11:10

I always fear poor old GRRM would be a great candidate for a 'Misery' style demented fan... "Yes, George, make Jon come back to life!"
