To tell this woman to fuck off next time?

So, background - ds2 has severe developmental delays, gets middle rate DLA, likely genetic condition, currently in a clinical study to work out what is causing his issues. Had regular physio, SALT, brain MRIs etc etc.

He's been at nursery in a funded 2 year old place since January.

He's very recently started to begin walking. Holding on until last week, now can walk short distances unaided.

Now to the bitch.

A month ago at picking up time he walked towards me holding a staff members hand. They said very excitedly that he'd been walking a lot. Another mother butted in saying "oh! He just needed some time away from mum!"

I was more than a bit Hmm but thought maybe it was one of those things where you say something without thinking.

Today, two members of staff were telling me he'd walked between rooms on his own and been really proud of himself. He saw me, crawled towards me. Again she popped up and said "But he starts crawling when he sees mum! Haha"

Wtf? Is she unhinged?

She sounds like a twatfuck. Angry Next time say "who asked you!? with a broad grin...then smack her on the arm (hard) and say "Only joking!" with another grin.

She does seem a bit unhinged! Sorry to laugh but the idea of her suddenly popping up like a spitting image puppet whenever your ds achieves something was very funny.

Glad to hear ds is doing well and well done for all your hard work.

She is just bonkers isn't she? Writing it down had made it clear.

No, don't know her really, our boys started at the same time. She wouldn't believe he couldn't walk then either actually.

Just a simple "what do you mean by that" said next time might be enough to 1) not sound too confrontational and 2)make her gently aware that you dont find her remarks funny.

She may genuinely mean nothing at all by it, but doesn't realise how its coming across even if she does sound like an opinionated bitch

She probably thinks she's being "funny" twats like this usually do. Hopefully the day trip will make her realise how special your little man is and how hard he has worked for this progress! I have a friend with a DS with similar difficulties and if I heard someone say this to her I'd be livid!

Also that's a great age to walk if he has some issues. I hope you are very proud! My DD didn't walk until she was 3 days from being 2 and there are no issues she's just a lazy so and so

Hmm, I don't think I'd be able to hold myself back if she said it for a third time.

Maybe she's trying to be funny/chatty/make friends but is socially inept so ends up just making an arse of herself... either that or just a fuckwit!

But I'd definitely tell her to keep her ill-informed uneducated opinions to herself if she pipes up with another comment like that again

That's the thing, I don't know if she thinks she being funny, or actually thinks I have in some way prevented him from walking until now, and so nursery is having to teach him?

And I try to avoid conflict as long as possible. Because when it comes I am apparently a bit scary.

She deserves it though, right? We've got a consensus on that?

It sounds as if she may be jealous that the staff are praising your little one. I can just imagine her bitterly thinking how they don't give her wee one all that attention. Bty I don't agree with her, I'm just thinking that may be what's wrong with her.

I remember when my daughters awful chorea (involuntary movement disorder) caused her to walk around everywhere with one arm up in the air...and one awful friend commented on it everytime, telling her not to be so ridiculous..and to put it down, even though physically she couldn't....I nearly lumped them too..

Too insensitive and stupid for their own good some people...

I'd def be giving it to her both barrels too!

Playing devil's advocate here, it sounds to me as though she is just trying to be friendly. The usual comments about children just playing up in front of mum so she will do stuff for her etc.
