To think 2 weetabix is a normal portion?

OH eats 4 at a time Shock

He isn't known for small portions, and then complains when I don't finish meals! Don't get me wrong I like my food, but it's just ridiculous.

Please tell me I'm not unreasonable!

I would have one. Even two would probably feel like a lot for me.

LadyPenny · 03/06/2015 22:38

I agree 2 is a portion. My DS has 3 though and my 84 year old mum told me she ate 5 for breakfast this morning. I'm very pleased about that. She hasn't had much of appetite lately.

grapejuicerocks · 03/06/2015 22:41

I wouldn't bother getting out of bed for less than 3. 4 would be preferable.

KittyLovesPaintingOhYes · 03/06/2015 22:47

In maternity ward we were supplied with one as a portion, I was shocked and dismayed, just had a baby ffs. I was there 6 days Sad

Next time I opted for toast and got one slice - tight bastards.

Speaking with authority having made shredded wheat for a living somebody has to two is the recommended serving size for those.

IronMaggie · 03/06/2015 22:56

In terms of pure energy requirements, a single Weetabix biscuit is around 60 calories. That would make 2 biscuits with a fair amount of milk less than 200 calories. That's nowhere near enough for a grown man. Sorry, I'm not sure why you'd ration him, unless he had a large amount of weight to lose (and was a small child / incapable of deciding for himself).

DramaAlpaca · 03/06/2015 23:01

I would usually have two.

DS (20) eats about five. He has milk on the side & dips them because he doesn't like them going soggy. DH doesn't eat them often, but if he does he has four.

MrsTedCrilly · 03/06/2015 23:09

2 weetabix would never fill me! It's down to the individual I think Smile

FreudiansSlipper · 03/06/2015 23:12

ds(7) has 2 with lots of milk and a fruit puree pot

sometimes 3 he is a skinny little thing I wonder where it goes

seems to fill him up for a few hours

we need a tongue in cheek smiley I am sure the op is not taking the issue too seriously as some on here are

FreudiansSlipper · 03/06/2015 23:14

and he sometimes eats them dry Confused

takes him ages and keeps him quiet

spillyobeans · 03/06/2015 23:42

Might be more than you have but why would it be unreasonable? Bit of a weird thing to even post Confused

LittleMissIntrovert · 03/06/2015 23:53

Erm it was meant to be lighthearted!

I think 4 is a lot to eat for me and just wondered what others have, I don't ration them!

I eat four. I am very slim, by most people's standards, and am ravenous at breakfast. DS, aged one, can just about manage to finish one weetabix.

I suppose two is an official standard serving, like how on cereal boxes they say 30g is a serving, but I consider anything up to 5 a normal bowl.

xalyssx · 04/06/2015 00:07

I have 6... or 8.... or 4 and half a pack of baby cereal... or 2 and at least 2 cups of muesli... then again I am type 1 diabetic.

MidnightDinosaur · 04/06/2015 00:43

My skinny petite ds2 is 4 1/2 years old and happily eats 4 Weetabix when we have them.

But only if they"43 the right way up (since when do Weetabix have a "right way up"?)

MidnightDinosaur · 04/06/2015 00:43

But only if they're the right way up. Bloody ipad.

Perissa · 04/06/2015 02:02

MidnightDinosaur There was a thread around the time I first joined MN about whether Weetabix have a right way up. It got put into Classics here

BrockAuLit · 04/06/2015 02:35

It's just occurred to me that you lot are all eating your weetabix cold! Seriously??! How can you stomach that??

The only way I've ever had - or known anyone else to have - weetabix is with hot milk. 2 weetabix in a bowl, half covered with milk, into microwave for 1.5mins, sugar: food of the gods. Especially in winter.

ShadowsCollideCantLogInToMN · 04/06/2015 02:51

For DP, a portion of Weetabix is 3, with warm milk and sugar. For me, it's one, with hot water. I turn it into a lovely wheaty, watery mush. I don't know which is the right side to face up, though Grin

chrome100 · 04/06/2015 05:19

I have four as well. Two isn't enough!

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 04/06/2015 07:26

The thought of warm weetabix makes me want to vom Brock.

tilliebob · 04/06/2015 07:27

My almost 16 year old 6ft beanpole eldest DS eats 4 at a time. My 7 year old eats 2!

maninawomansworld · 04/06/2015 10:36

I eat 4 Weetabix too. I like mine with warm milk and a sliced banana dusted off with a teaspoon of sugar.

What constitutes 'too much' food is totally dependant on what a person burns in a day. I am a farmer and do a lot of physical work so I eat about 3500 calories a day because I use it. If I got an office job I'd have to cut down.
Most people though, do eat 'too much' (as rising rates of obesity and heart disease prove).

ceebie · 04/06/2015 11:29

My DS aged 3 has 2 Weetabix. As he is probably about 1/4 of the size of your DH, I think your DH actually should be having 8.

shockthemonkey · 04/06/2015 12:28

Minimum 6 for my DS, and once it was 12 as he was hungry

NinaSharp · 04/06/2015 12:33

3-4, with hot milk and plenty of sugar. Food of the gods. Lived on it while pregnant.

My skinny 3yo easily polishes off 2 and would probably need something else as well.

They're not exactly filling.
