When MrsLH and I got married, I was most impressed that the passport office were able to issue her new passport (in the name of Mrs) up to 2 weeks before the wedding.

So we went on honeymoon as Mr & Mrs. Smile

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 26/05/2015 14:36

My 9.5 YO British Passport has no title on it. Unless the OP is going to go to the bother of changing her passport between wedding and honeymoon, it would probably be easiest to make bookings in the name of Ms Blue?

She can't call herself Mrs new DH name on the bookings unless she changes her passport and Mrs Blue would also be wrong as she is not married to her father. Foreign hotels usually ask to see your passport, so it will need to match as well as the flight.

FlysInDreams · 26/05/2015 14:40

Titles aren't on passports. If you want to change your name on your passport you can get it post-dated before the ceremony: www.gov.uk/changing-passport-information/marriage-and-civil-partnership

Topseyt · 26/05/2015 14:41

As there is some debate, check it out with the Passport Office and your tour operator.

It does matter because you want to avoid trouble going through customs or checking into your accommodation.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 26/05/2015 14:47

Do we know who 'he' is yet?

Hmm Well, you could hazard a wild guess?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 26/05/2015 14:51

Are you changing your surname? Did "he" allow you to book in the new surname? If so I don't see why you can't use Mrs. Anyway, you can use whatever title you want, regardless of marital status. Ms is easiest IMO.

I want to guess who "he" is.

David Cameron?
Russel Brand?
Jesus?
Fidel Castro?
That cool guy dancing in stilettos and shorts in the moneysupermarket ad?

Am I even close?

OP is a prolific story teller, don't give him / her the satisfaction today

Scoopmuckdizzy · 26/05/2015 14:59

This is hardly an exciting story!

WorraLiberty · 26/05/2015 15:05

Oh is this dinosaur woman?

Surely you've had time to sort this out already since you got married?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 26/05/2015 15:07

Dinosaurs? WTF?

Focusfocus · 26/05/2015 15:11

Your title continues as is unless yiu change it.

Someone at my work HR tried to make me "Mrs HisName" the other day and it took 15 minutes and a strong email higher up for them to finally understand that "Dr Focusfocus" continues and will always continue to be "Dr Focusfocus" and absolutely never "Mrs HisName".

You clearly would like the opposite. You'll be pleased to know it's still considered far more socially acceptable your way, as my story above shows. You can take your marriage certificate along with you and as ling as you change your passport and get other names changed you'll be fine. My SIL hadn't got down to changing passport yet and still travel as Ms HerName although, unlike me, she is Mrs HisName for all purposes.

HereNotThere · 26/05/2015 15:18

Ner, Angry I'm still sulking because the OP wouldn't show us the imaginary Dinosaur photos

Jelliebabe1 · 26/05/2015 15:28

You can alter your passport before you wedding to your new married name, It comes into effect the day of the wedding. The vicar/officiant has a little bit to fill in and if the wedding doesn't take place then they have a section of their own to send off to the passport office. I did this and it was a pain in the but quite frankly as then none of my bank cards matched my passport and we needed one for the room bookings...

DoreyBlue · 26/05/2015 15:40

No I just want to go as mrsBlue. Not bothered about having his surname

AdeleDazeem · 26/05/2015 15:40

Yeah, I think propel has it, it's the moneysupermarket guy. His name's Dave.

propelusagain · 26/05/2015 15:42

AdeleDazeem- you think "he" is Dave? I am tickled pink if I am right. Is there a prize do you know?

AnyFucker · 26/05/2015 15:43

Is MoneySupermarket guy called Dave Blue ?

Moln · 26/05/2015 15:44

Dinosaurs as in the burner of dinosaurs?

Though the picture comment makes me think I'm way off!!

propelusagain · 26/05/2015 15:44

‘Dave’ is actually a 28-year-old American actor called Michael Van Schoick,

Moln · 26/05/2015 15:47

'He' could be Steve in Accounts from my office you know, so let's not go to far and carried away with Dave in the stilettos!!

AdeleDazeem · 26/05/2015 15:48

Mrs. O calls him Dave in the ad. She says something like 'This is Dave. Dave saved money with money super market. And now he feels. Epic.' Then as he struts past her she says 'Dave! You're so money super market.'

So his name is either Dave or Steve. Or Bear. Wink
