To find this so fucking offensive?

Not sure if I'm overreacting.

A semi famous social media person uploaded a photo to there Instagram of them with a sellotape wrapped around their face up to their nose to resemble tubes. Making fun of the film Fault in our Stars, a film about a girl with cancer.

I said I found it disgusting to be told I shouldn't be offended because

"It's a fucking film! She didn't really have cancer! Go to bed you fucking noodle!"

Seriously aibu?

Fair do's.

ilovesooty · 25/05/2015 07:41

I agree with LimeFizz

Under circumstances like this MNHQ ought to be able to tell us that they have banned the poster and also tell us who they usually post as and that that name is banned as well.

fiveacres · 25/05/2015 07:43

I imagine 'they' (as in their account) have been banned, or will be in the near future.

Missing the point a bit but I love your posts Derek! Other poster sounds veerry odd indeed.

Ladymoods · 25/05/2015 08:02

I agree that the post by the 'celeb' was in very poor taste, film or no film that's not the sort of thing to be making fun of.

However, to mock somebody because their partner left them makes you some kind of bastard in my opinion. What a completely unnecessary, irrelevant and downright nasty comment that is. I hope the reason you haven't returned to this post is because you are utterly ashamed of yourself.

ilovesooty · 25/05/2015 08:05

I take your point Buttermilly and that's the reason such a procedure would probably not be implemented. Part of me however thinks that perhaps they should think about that before they post such offensive stuff in the first place. Their own behaviour causes the banning.

This is a prime example of cowardly abuse of the name changing facility.
Their banning is or should be automatic. I know TSSDNCOP but I for one would like them to be exposed so the scale of their cowardice and duplicity was obvious and it was a deterrent to others.

ilovesooty · 25/05/2015 08:08

And fiveacres while I appreciate your point too the return of PBP s is common.

scribblescrabble · 25/05/2015 08:10

I've enjoyed the anonymity of a name change a few times for personal problems I wanted to discuss, but I vow as from today never to name change again as it seems to give people impunity into a special type of 'brave' twat

getbusyliving · 25/05/2015 08:12

I think it depends what their intention was, which I'm guessing was dressing up as a character from a film. If this was the case then yes I think yabu and looking to be offended

CatMilkMan · 25/05/2015 08:14

I feel sorry for Michael.

RachieS1986 · 25/05/2015 08:20

yanbu the film is based on a true story.

Pagwatch · 25/05/2015 08:23

Name changing to be a cunt to another poster is like the very definition of cowardice.

You are a fucking weasel OP - whoever you actually are.

Shithead.

ilovesooty · 25/05/2015 08:29

Exactly, Pagwatch

However this was discussed very recently and people who expressed the view you and I have were roundly criticised as I remember.

exLtEveDallasNoBollocks · 25/05/2015 08:32

Pag. I love you. That is all.

TheFairyCaravan · 25/05/2015 08:34

What Pag said.

usualsuspect333 · 25/05/2015 08:40

I had someone on a NC have a pop at me not long ago. All her posts were deleted. She wasn't banned though.

Maybe it depends who you are? No fucker stuck up for me either Grin

Quiero · 25/05/2015 08:42

You should have to tick a box when you sign up saying you agree to have all your previous names exposed if you turn feral and start name changing to attack posters.

We could have a name and shame section called PSPGtS - Previously Sensible Posters Gone to Shit.

The irony of someone on an Internet forum complaining about people on Twitter then slagging off others for being too invested about the Internet is quite staggering.

I'd have agreed with the OP as well. I think that was in bad taste.

differentnameforthis · 25/05/2015 08:44

Oh wait you can't because your partner left you. Can really see why. OMFG!!! And you are complaining about someone calling you a fucking noodle? You got off lightly! How dare you bring another poster's personal life into this, just to make yourself feel better? You are not better than the people you are complaining about !

On another note I will be hiding this thread now I don't have to read your absolute shit anymore. Coward. YOu now you are going to get pulled to shit for the above remark, so you are skulking off...wow! You got balls!

Your whole life is MN. At 24 years old. How pathetic. YOU are pathetic. You complain on here about a different site & have the audacity to rip into someone who doesn't agree with you!

AIBU to find THIS so fucking offensive???

tethersend · 25/05/2015 08:44

Usual Shock

I'm sorry I missed that. I would have stuck up for you.

I've always defended you Grin

Koalafications · 25/05/2015 08:45

What an absolute cunt of an OP.

usualsuspect333 · 25/05/2015 08:47

It's ok Tethers. I'm not bitter Grin

ilovesooty · 25/05/2015 08:49

When those wistful threads are started where people wonder where posters of yesteryear have gone I often wonder whether any of them have been banned for abusive posts under a name change.

However as I said PBP s seem to always be with us. Dealing with them must be like whack a mole.

tethersend · 25/05/2015 08:50

I'll have to stick up for you anyway, just to make up for it. Even when nobody's attacking you.

LEAVE USUAL ALONE!

WHAT WOULD YOU KNOW?!

ETC!

ilovesooty · 25/05/2015 08:50

I'd have stuck up for you too usual

You did for me. Grin
