A semi famous social media person uploaded a photo to there Instagram of them with a sellotape wrapped around their face up to their nose to resemble tubes. Making fun of the film Fault in our Stars, a film about a girl with cancer.

I said I found it disgusting to be told I shouldn't be offended because

"It's a fucking film! She didn't really have cancer! Go to bed you fucking noodle!"

Sorry have to agree if it was simply some on making plastic tubes out of cello tape and going I'm the girl from fault in our stars, it's not actually offencivr. I don't know where the world trade centre or the holocaust reference has come in. Because this celeb isn't an actor/ress maybe and it's ok for them to pretend to be someone/something and not other people dressing up.

If he's made plastic tubes and gone look at me I have cancer like the girl in fault in our stars then yes that's offencive that's someone not understanding how serious cancer is, and weirdly there are people who don't know.

It's the difference between re-enacting the film, "I am (being) a character from a fictional (all be it heavily inspired by real life) book/film"

Im really not sure why you are so offended? People reinact things all the time. My dad died of cancer and I laugh about certain situations that occurred, I surely wouldn't go all ballistic about others doing the same in humour. Its a way of dealing with things.

I kind of agree with crustaway, that the op seems to be fairly troubled. But she rather loses her moral high ground by lashing out at one poster and she's rightfully being pulled up on being rude and personal when Derek has done nothing other than tried to reason with her.
