Long story short, months of agonising stomach pain. Back and forth to doctors constantly, told they suspect an ulcer. Been taking tablets so now I get say a week pain free followed by a week in agony.
Doctor told me to book a h.pylori blood test. Can't get through to the phlebotomy service, have been trying for 4 weeks now. Just started a new job and in the middle of training so can't take time off anyway.

Yesterday the pain was so bad all day I felt constantly sick, it was right up in my shoulder as well as my stomach, dizzy, unable to focus, everything. Got worse when I got home from work, couldn't regulate my temperature, had a fever and was in so much pain. My stomach has swollen and it feels like there's a solid lump when im standing up, its literally rock solid. Today I feel marginally better but I'm still stuck in bed, temperature is fairly high and I am in pain. My heart is still skipping beats and jumping all over the place.

I don't know if out of hours could do anything for me. DP is adamant I don't need it but the pain has never left me like this before.

WIBU to go to out of hours? They'll be so busy this weekend :(

I'm surprised there are places in the UK you can't get a prescription filled on a Saturday afternoon.

Justusemyname · 24/05/2015 07:32

Really not the main point at the moment, SD.

OP I really hope you're in hospital being treated. If you have children you have a duty to do it for them if you don't care enough about yourself.

Psippsina · 24/05/2015 07:40

I hope you are Ok, OP - I hope you manage to get seen today. I'm the same as you, I hate to disrupt things. It all seems such a faff.

I dread the day when I really do need help because I'll be acting the same as you. Flowers

I am sure DP and DD can cope for a day while you get sorted out...hope it seems more do-able this morning, the sun's out at least xx

OrangeVase · 24/05/2015 07:44

Hope that you are OK OP. It is scary.

I went to OOH last weekend. Worried for ages before doing it but I was frightened and my DS was with me. Decided safer to call a friend to drive me there at 1am than leave it.
As it happens mine was not what I had feared. The pain, sweats and diizzy feelings were due to two different things, both easily treatable, neither serious. The combinaiton of them together looked like something major.

Huge relief!! Treatment for the pain. Back home and much better by 2am.

No-one, not the doctor or my friend thought I was silly or time wasting when it turned out not to be emergency.

Hope that you have got tretament.

jorahmormont · 24/05/2015 07:48

Soup if you don’t believe me you can report the thread, I'm quite happy to speak to mnhq to confirm who I am. Our pharmacy opens until 12 on a Saturday and sorry if I'm not firing on all cylinders because of the pain, I now know where the out of hours pharmacy is.

I'm going to A&E today. I know it will be a wait bur but it's the only way I'll put my mind at ease. thanks everyone.

I would get down there sooner than later before all the footballand sporting gardening and diy injuries kick in. The drunks should be thinning out - now would be a good time to go especially if you dont want to be sat waiting for longer than neccessary.

SoupDragon · 24/05/2015 07:56

Thank goodness you're going.

The point of the prescription comments was that dithering about going to A&E and not having the prescribed medicine was doubly daft. No. Way wa it going to improve.

CatOfTheWoods · 24/05/2015 07:58

Jorah, just to say I went in once convinced I was having a heart attack - I was suffering from anxiety and it was a panic attack. So you might expect I'd be laughed at or treated dismissively but actually they were lovely and took me very seriously, checked everything and were very kind about it.

I understand being scared but there's a good chance you will be treated like I was even if it's not serious. Good luck today.

VelvetRose · 24/05/2015 08:03

Hope you get some answers and relief from the pain today Jorah. Sorry you've had such a horrible night. Huge hugs to you.

Number666livesaMrMIller · 24/05/2015 08:19

Thank goodness you've decided to go.
I've have close friends who work in a&e. Never would they be dismissive or rude or unkind to anyone regardless of the severity of symptoms.
It's uncomfortable and unfamiliar but it needs to be done. I'm proud of you for seeing that and getting the treatment you need.
All the best. I'll be checking back throughout the day and keeping you in my thoughts.

ScarlettDarling · 24/05/2015 08:28

jorah Well done for going today. Let us know how you get on Flowers

SnakeyMcBadass · 24/05/2015 08:31

Good luck today. Did you get any rest? How's the pain now?

jorahmormont · 24/05/2015 08:49

I managed to sleep but when I woke up the pain is bad, the solid lump/thing has never felt this solid so its definitely time to go.

OP posts:
chocolatelife · 24/05/2015 08:51

good luck.

youarekiddingme · 24/05/2015 09:02

Glad your going.

I had similar a few years ago and they suspected gallbladder. No signs of gallstones etc on scan and was diagnoses with gastritis. It's an infection of the stomach lining. And untreated can cause severe ulcer and further consequences.

Justusemyname · 24/05/2015 09:12

Good luck. We've been firm but that isn't because we don't care.

jorahmormont · 24/05/2015 09:13

I'm waiting now. I don't know if its seriously hot in here or if im burning up again. Doesn't seem too rammed but still a couple of drunk people.

OP posts:
OhWotIsItThisTime · 24/05/2015 09:16

Good luck, Jorah. If you're feeling terrible while waiting, then ask for help.

LeChien · 24/05/2015 09:23

Good luck, hope you're seen quickly.

jorahmormont · 24/05/2015 09:24

There's a long wait apparently. Triagr nurse seemed a bit "why are you here" but I was nearly sick in the room so I know I need to be here.

Thank you for being firm with me and im sorry I didn't listen sooner. Im sorry if this seemed to anyone like drama queen/attention seeking.

OP posts:
PixieChops · 24/05/2015 09:31

Glad you're there Jorah, I'm sorry if you found my comments harsh before but really it was out of kindness not because I was trying to be a bitch. I was feeling exasperated how you seemed to be not listening to anyone! Hope your OH is going to look after you. It's not nice feeling ill and I can understand why you'd feel scared about going to hospital. Let us know how you get on x

LeChien · 24/05/2015 09:32

In my experience, triage nurses at A&E always do this.
Dh went in with a suspected stroke and the triage nurse was really rude and dismissive.
Everyone else was lovely though.

PixieChops · 24/05/2015 09:34

Yeah just stick it out. I've been in with asthma attacks and the triage nurses can be a bit shit and unsympathetic. If it helps just keep chatting to us on here to keep you calm.

Breezy1985 · 24/05/2015 09:35

Glad you're thete, I had similar symptoms laat year, ended up with a 5:day course of 2 iv antibiotics, they never did pinpoint exactly where the infection was but it cleared it up and the strong painkillers helped.. Good luck Thanks

jorahmormont · 24/05/2015 09:37

OH was lovely and he actually suggested A&E which surprised me, I was planning to go anyway but he came out with it and confirmed it for me.

He offered to stay but I told him to take DD either home or out somewhere nice. Never been here on my own so its a biy scary but most of all its so hot!! I think it might be me as everyone else is in theit coats and I'm stripped down to my t shirt (and trousers obviously) and sweating! :(
