to be annoyed this woman asked my husband to zip her dress up?

My friend had a house party last night for her birthday. She has a large kitchen so most of us were in there when a random woman asked my husband to zip her dress up as it was coming down at the back.

She was with friends and has never met my husband (or me) ever before.

Aibu to have been annoyed?

I wouldn't let it bother you, honestly. Unless it was reciprocated. Just laugh about it together. DH was vaguely embarrassed when it happened to him, and mildly flattered, sadly!!

OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 17/05/2015 22:16

Would you all really think nothing of asking a man you've never met, who is clearly standing next to his wife, to pull your zip back up for you? Confused

stopeatingbiscuits · 17/05/2015 22:16

Salmo - I disagree that the only reason OP would be annoyed is because she is insecure - I think it's quite disrespectful of someone to flirt with someone else openly in front of their partner. It would not be unreasonable to be annoyed at that surely? Obviously context is everything and I have no idea what she actually did...

If a random bloke came over to me at a party when I was with my husband and in a flirty way asked me to, I dunno, tie a bow tie, my husband would find that pretty annoying. But PMSL at a bloke asking me to tie a tie in a flirty way...! Ha.

I guess my point is that if the woman WAS in fact flirty and not just having a wardrobe malfunction and asked someone to help (fine) I can see how that would be annoying if you were stood right there.

I guess they key is what exactly she did that was flirty.

I cannot believe I have posted on a thread like this!

Neither can I stopeating! Grin

I get why you may be miffed, buy if the rest of the night showed it was a one off thing I'd assume nothing about it. People have different behaviour codes.

HaloKelly23 · 17/05/2015 22:18

OP you sound like one of those mental wives everyone speaks about a party.

"No, stop looking. What the fuck are you doing Wendy don't ask him to fix your dress, Jesus Christ do you know his wife? She'll send shit through your letterbox for that"

trufflesnout · 17/05/2015 22:18

Yy Ostentatious! It is weird

Of course it's flirting. It would probably make me smile and I wouldn't give a rats ass but it's most definatly flirting. Come on.

Wantsunshine · 17/05/2015 22:19

I think I would rather ask the man whose wife is there as it would seem like a safer option than someone single who may think I was trying to attract their attention

OP please tell me there was more to this than she asked him to zip her dress up.

Any porn eyebrow or suggestive lip licking when she asked??

Bambambini · 17/05/2015 22:22

I wasn't there to see how it was done and you haven't exactly described the incident in detail so I don't know if YABU or not. It's not a nice way to behave if she was being flirty rather than just funny or whatever and knew he was your husband. So it's not a nice way to behave if she deliberately tried to flirt with him.

MrsMargoLeadbetter · 17/05/2015 22:22

Was it one of those dresses that is all zip at the back and it was almost completely undone? So he had to start near her bottom?

SumThucker · 17/05/2015 22:24

Any chance you were giving her dirty looks, OP?

My friend rather enjoys being flirtatious with men, especially when their wives have been looking at her suspiciously...

Bambambini · 17/05/2015 22:24

"OP you sound like one of those mental wives everyone speaks about a party."

I think that's really mean and just jumping on the lets make fun of the Op bandwagon.

It's probably being flirty but it's not the end of the world if she was also tipsy.

Did you really want her unzipped dress to slide down her back and show even more of her brazen hussy body eh op?!

PattiODoors · 17/05/2015 22:26

I dunno

Let's hope she had Faggy Hair eh

MummyLuce · 17/05/2015 22:26

Yes it is vaguely flirtatious. But look, it's a free country, women ( or men) are free to flirt with your partner if they wish. You kind of just need to accept that. People can flirt with whoever they like. Maybe she thought he looked nice and thought it would be fun to ask him to zip her. But obviously she wasn't trying to sleep with him and he wasn't reciprocating the flirting so all is okay. Do not waste any more time thinking about this.

mynameisvivienne · 17/05/2015 22:26

Not sure why people would refer to me as the "mental wife" ... (I actually hate the word mental and would never use it to describe anyone)

He pulled her zip up. I said nothing about it to anyone and then erm ... just carried on my night.

Sorry to say there is no drip feed of my husband having previously cheated, me filing for divorce today or finding her address and posting dog shit through her letterbox.

Happybodybunny12 · 17/05/2015 22:27

If you can't see it's flirty then there's absolutely no point in trying to explain it to you is there?

You are either a flirt or you arnt and if you arnt then you probably wouldn't recognise a true professional of the art. Grin

I am a good flirt. Wink

Op it wouldn't bother me at all though.

OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 17/05/2015 22:28

I've seen women do this as an ice-breaker before, though.

One woman came up to my DP one night and asked "is there something on the back of my trousers?' and turned around trying to make her arse look pert Grin

She had her friends with her to do the zip. She was flirting.

SuperFlyHigh · 17/05/2015 22:28

Also op if she's never met you or your husband before how the heck would she know you are both married?! Were you in a vice like grip with him?!
