Not necessarily an aibu but it's Sunday, ergo fun day...

Over the years I've had many NNs which either described the situation I was in or a favourite quote from a book or film.

What's yours? And who has the best NN? (Hopes FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse turns up). My current NN came from a very trivial discussion I had with my friend over what I was making her for dinner and she said "You're making potatoes! Just fucking potatoes!?" And I replied with "Well yes, please appreciate the humble potato."

Tiggy, weird! That's exactly how my parents came up with my real name. Spooky.

NynaevesSister · 17/05/2015 20:13

Mine is named for my favourite character in the Wheel of Time series of books. In the books she is an only child but it didn't occur to me that I could actually take her name :)

Shenanagins · 17/05/2015 20:14

Mine came from one night lurking on here and there was a lot of shenanigins going on coupled with the fact that I can't spell!

elQuintoConyo · 17/05/2015 20:16

Because it's nice and sweary. And it makes Spanish speakers giggle Grin

It means 'the fifth cunt' but with a ñ not 'ny', MN fields don't accept ñ Sad

It's my second nn, my first was rather flaccid!

NoArmaniNoPunani · 17/05/2015 20:18

NoArmaniNoPunani - often wondered where that name came from. What does it mean?

There was a programme on channel 4 about toilet attendants who sell splashes of cologne etc in club toilets. They have little rhymes to encourage people to buy - no splash no gash, no Armani no punani. Basically if you don't buy their wares you won't pull.

ArtfulPuss · 17/05/2015 20:18

From What Katy Did. (Narrator says it about Clover, a name I always wanted if I ever had a DD. I did, and it was vetoed, but we have used it for one of our lambs this season so Grin) My previous NN was a lesser-known Richard Scarry character. My next NN, already lined up, is also from a book I loved when I was small.

LifeOfBriony · 17/05/2015 20:20

I've had a few unmemorable names, but wanted something better. Took me ages to come up with this one.

I like the film Life of Brian, but didn't want a man's name.

m0therofdragons · 17/05/2015 20:21

Game of Thrones fan but also with 3 young dc it can feel like dealing with dragons sometimes.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 17/05/2015 20:22

I got a bit obsessed with the Abbey Road live crossing cam. Hours of my life spent watching tourists cheat death.

Ouchbloodyouch · 17/05/2015 20:23

Vulval dermatitis.. and an allergic reaction to 'something' Blush

Mypubesarestraight · 17/05/2015 20:23

Erm...

bythewindsailors · 17/05/2015 20:24

I was watching nature's weirdest events with my boys and chris packham was talking about these odd little sea creatures that float on the ocean going where the wind takes them. I thought it was quite poetic and descriptive of my personality: I don't plan, I drift along whichever way life takes me so in a rare moment of reflective introspection, I became by the wind sailors.

NoMontagues · 17/05/2015 20:24

Mine's from an Arctic Monkeys song.

KittyLovesPaintingOhYes · 17/05/2015 20:25

My 3 year old DD was home from school and guess what she was doing...

TrulyTurtles · 17/05/2015 20:25

Mine is another Pterry inspired one, can't find the quote, but there was an imagined conversation with him and Death. He looked over the side of the Disc and said "it's truly turtles all the way down"
Formerly known as ohwhatfuckeryisthis, it was an exclamation after some margarine and flour related hijinx back when DS was little.

TheHumblePotato · 17/05/2015 20:25

Well are they Mypubesarestraight one can only wonder?

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 17/05/2015 20:27

I'm a fan of tv show Malcolm in the Middle, Lois Wilkerson is the mum.

CatthiefKeith · 17/05/2015 20:28

I used to be 'my name is Keith' as a nod to Spitting Image, but after I took up cat burgling HoneyDragon made me change it in a desperate bid to make other Mumsnetters aware that I wasn't to be trusted around their pets.

What happened to the joyful puddle jumper? I thought of her this morning as my dopey dog jumped joyfully through the puddles.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 17/05/2015 20:29

My head hair is very curly and I always assumed all of the straight haired majority had straight pubes for many years!

bythewindsailors · 17/05/2015 20:30

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis: that was one ofmy favourite NN. One of those that I wish I had thought of.

Ouchbloodyouch: ouch! Wine. Hope all is better now!

RatOnnaStick · 17/05/2015 20:30

The dwarf equivalent of sausage inna bun. With extra ketchup Smile

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 17/05/2015 20:30

elquinto Shock I thought it was a line or character from some classy poem or something! Brilliant name! Grin goes back to school

HippyPottyMouth · 17/05/2015 20:31

I was playing with the baby and a furry hippopotamus, and thought of it. It sums me up quite well. I've seen another similar name about, and don't know who got there first.

TrulyTurtles · 17/05/2015 20:33

Oh cheers windsailor! Changing back after the 25th.

Earsareconstantlyringing · 17/05/2015 20:49

I have three kids. Hence my ears ring. Constantly.
