Not necessarily an aibu but it's Sunday, ergo fun day...

Over the years I've had many NNs which either described the situation I was in or a favourite quote from a book or film.

What's yours? And who has the best NN? (Hopes FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse turns up). My current NN came from a very trivial discussion I had with my friend over what I was making her for dinner and she said "You're making potatoes! Just fucking potatoes!?" And I replied with "Well yes, please appreciate the humble potato."

FrankTurnersGuitar · 17/05/2015 18:34

I love Frank Turner and wish I was his guitar.
I had another name for years but someone else had one with the same initials.

justonemorethread · 17/05/2015 18:34

Because that's what I say to myself everytime I come on mumsnet!

NoIsNotACompleteSentence · 17/05/2015 18:36

GiddyOn, your name is far too subtle, sorry.

May I suggest GeorgeOsborneIsAnEnormousBastardingCuntFacedFucker, perhaps?

Just for the sake of clarity, you understand...

Stinkersmum · 17/05/2015 18:38

One of my cats is called Stinker. Simples.

SanityClause · 17/05/2015 18:45

Mine is from a Marx Bros film.

They are going through a contract, tearing off irrelevant clauses. The final clause is one that says that the contact will be invalid if either party is insane, commonly known as the sanity clause.

But no one believes in a sanity clause!

It was a Christmas name, but I liked it, so I kept it.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 17/05/2015 18:46

NoIs I cannot disagree! But it would have denied mr the small comfort during the election everytime I was mentioned by a Tory :)

ElloGuvnor · 17/05/2015 18:48

Mine comes from the cartoon Regular Show, it's the catchphrase of a talking black cab. I joined MN when my DH became a school governor so it seemed to fit.

AgathaChristie01 · 17/05/2015 18:48

Always loved Agatha Christie books, plus I can never think of a clever nn.

TheHumblePotato · 17/05/2015 18:49

GiddyOnZackHunt definitely too subtle. I get Gideon George Osborne, but can't work out the rest? Zack Goldsmith? What's the connection?

Behold! FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse is here!

GiddyOnZackHunt · 17/05/2015 18:52

Humble say it out loud and quickly. But not around small ears.

DeidreChambersWhatACoincidence · 17/05/2015 18:54

I change my name often. But atm it's from Muriel's Wedding.

TheHumblePotato · 17/05/2015 18:56

By the way NoIsNotACompleteSentence I know its you under a NC! The rest of the thread are gathering their pitchforks as you type!

Fatmomma99 · 17/05/2015 18:57

Gutted, Sanity Claus - I thought it was (well, it also is) the title of a song by The Damned. I thought their other fan was a MN-er. Smile

TheHumblePotato · 17/05/2015 18:58

GiddyOnZackHunt I'll have to plead stupidity as I've just spent the past few minutes attempting to deconstruct it and repeat it in various paces and accents. Still find myself Confused

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 17/05/2015 19:00

The problem with explaining my name is that it sounds like it should be a really interesting story, but it's not :o

The FuckYouChris is a nod to a podcast by the Bugle which has John Oliver in it and makes me smile.

AndThatHorse was added after a trilogy of threads which are now insanely in Classics, from last year when we moved into a new house, that had a field, and we had somehow inherited a couple of horses that had been "rescued" by some passers by (Hmm). After giving them free grazing for 6 months, it became clear that we couldn't use our field at all, since the horses were aggressive. So I asked MN if I would be unreasonable to ask them to leave.

I got a resounding YABU. Then one of the people looking after the horses (using our shed, blocking us in by parking on our drive, letting her dogs crap in our garden) declared that the older horse would die if he was moved and that we were monsters (she had actually bought the other horse herself and moved it in as "company" when the old owners of the place were caught up in grief and weren't coping).

Long story short, with MN behind us we finally got rid, the old horse has some new owners and looks better than he ever has, and the other horse and its delightful owner are long gone.

So there you go.

Sorry you asked? :o

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 17/05/2015 19:02

I got a resounding YANBU! Not YABU

GiddyOnZackHunt · 17/05/2015 19:04

:) Gideon's a cunt.

londonrach · 17/05/2015 19:04

I love my name....it describes me..but im worried my sister will find me so then im be doing one of those name changes if that happens....Sad

FilbertSnood · 17/05/2015 19:18

My current one is a character from a jasper fforde book.

TheHumblePotato · 17/05/2015 19:18

GiddyOnZackHunt Ha! Grin I finally get it now! I will sleep well tonight! It really puzzled me as it's not exactly something like 'DoYouWantToBuildASnowman' or something similar!

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse You win the internet alone just by that nickname no matter how it came about or the back story!

Justonemorecupoftea · 17/05/2015 19:21

My kettle is always on Brew

LaLaLaaaa · 17/05/2015 19:25

My NN is La in RL and in certain situations I'd love to put my fingers in my ears when people speak to me and go 'la la la la laaaaa!'

SockQueen · 17/05/2015 19:25

It's a bit shite really, but my usual internet NN is far too identifiable, so I was desperately thinking of things I could use. Saw the drying rack covered in the matching pairs of socks which I had just carefully sorted out - I find it somewhat therapeutic to find all the socky friends - and decided on a sock-related name. Blush

CitrineRaindropPhoenix · 17/05/2015 19:28

Current nn is a random name generated by the BBC website when DD wanted to sign up for CBBC.

She can't remember her password so got s new name and I quite like this one.

morningsarepants · 17/05/2015 19:30

Because they are!
I REALLY hate getting up....
