Not necessarily an aibu but it's Sunday, ergo fun day...

Over the years I've had many NNs which either described the situation I was in or a favourite quote from a book or film.

What's yours? And who has the best NN? (Hopes FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse turns up). My current NN came from a very trivial discussion I had with my friend over what I was making her for dinner and she said "You're making potatoes! Just fucking potatoes!?" And I replied with "Well yes, please appreciate the humble potato."

It's from Red Dwarf Grin

DramaAlpaca · 17/05/2015 15:04

DS3 was making a bit of a fuss over nothing in particular one day & I told him he was being a drama llama. His reply was to tell me, very firmly, that he wasn't a drama llama, he was a drama alpaca.

He has no idea he inspired my MN nickname Grin

AuntieStella · 17/05/2015 15:04

I drink lager.

AmyElliotDunne · 17/05/2015 15:06

Mine is the character from Gone Girl - DP said she reminded him of me, she was a perfect GF, cool girl, Amazing Amy....then he got further into the book and panicked!

Nettletheelf · 17/05/2015 15:08

I'm named after the naughtiest of the elf and fairy toddlers on Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom. She's always sniggering and stinging people with the leaf in her hat.

Lweji · 17/05/2015 15:09

A book.

NoMoreMissusNiceGuy · 17/05/2015 15:10

When I joined MN I had every intention of stepping down from my comfy seat on the fence and "saying what I really meant" and stop being so bloody nice all the time.

It never really worked out like that Grin

I don't post very much, and when I do it's rarely anything of note.

LittleMissRayofHope · 17/05/2015 15:16

My current (and favourite) NN came from finding myself in a shitty shitty desperate looking situation. But somehow I realised that the events that unfolded were making me happier and stronger and I felt hopeful for mine and the kids future.

And I love Mr Men and the Little Miss characters. As does dd Smile

ijustwanttobeme · 17/05/2015 15:17

I was fed up one day of being expected to do bloody everything, and not having any time for, well, just being me.

HeadOfBetter · 17/05/2015 15:21

W1A but I think I got it wrong and it should be DirectorOfBetter. Will need to promote myself when I can get on the PC

Fatmomma99 · 17/05/2015 15:26

There are a few Terry Pratchett inspired names here. I like CMOTDibbler, who is a recurring character on Discworld. He sells terrible meat pies and whenever he's asked the price he says "....And that's cutting me own throat".

I enjoy people's nicknames, and as I'm pretty new, it's a handy way to start to recognise some people. I spent a VERY long time yesterday reading an old classics post, and it was FAB to see some names I recognized who had 'lived' that thread (Worra!)

My nickname's very dull, and a couple of people have told me it's bad for my self-esteem and I should change it. A couple of people have come back and told me it describes them. I chose it because I'm trying to lose weight at the moment (unfortunately, spending literally hours on MN not helping!)

Good question, HumblePotato

AyeAmarok · 17/05/2015 15:28

Phonetically mine is a Simon and Garfunkel song that I love. (I have always wondered if ANYONE has ever read my username and then gone "I am an I-----land", anyone? because I do!)

The actual words I have used instead are because I am Scottish (the first) and because I have to park behind a neighbour's one of these (the second) and I complain about it daily IRL because it takes up 1.5 spaces.

cuntyMcCunterson · 17/05/2015 15:28

I was actually called this in real life by a "service user" who was verbally abusing me and some others, he was English, I'm Scottish and this was the best insult he could come up with! I found the whole thing rather funny which only made things worse.

HappyGirlNow · 17/05/2015 15:33

I'd had a really traumatic couple of years from finding out the extent of my fuckwit exes cheating, to the turmoil it created in my life and all the changes to my life that ensued - took me a while to come to terms with it all as I'd loved my old life before I found out and that changed everything and I am not good with change much less enforced change. HappyGirlNow came after I realised I'd got my head round it all, was feeling comfortable and happy in my own skin again and in my new life with a new partner (now husband) Grin - so from misery to a happiness which I doubted I'd ever feel again.

I love CuntyMcCunterson (think that's it!) - makes me laugh every time I see it plus I'm Scottish where cunt can be a term of endearment or just mean 'someone' as in 'some cunt' Grin

HappyGirlNow · 17/05/2015 15:34

Cunty !!!

Cross post Haha

LavenderRain · 17/05/2015 15:35

I name change quite regularly but this current one is simply because I love lavender. Just imagine how wonderful it would be to have lavender flowers raining from the sky Smile im easily pleased

PattiODoors · 17/05/2015 15:37

Mine is the latest in a string of names. Change often.
I was a Name, back in the day but have left it behind for various reasons far too boring to retell.

Suffice to say I am vair vair happy to be hin cog neet oh

TheHumblePotato · 17/05/2015 15:38

cunty I love your name
worra I had thought your name was from a great fictional character I'd never heard of. Im now less impressed by you

So many names I'd wondered about now revealing where it came from and it surprises me, like you auntiestella I thought perhaps that was a name from a wise grandmother or aunt of yours or some such!

71HourAchmed · 17/05/2015 15:41

I name change pretty regularly , but this one is one of my Terry Pratchett name changes - changed to it after his death. Think there's a typo in it though, think it's actually 71-Hour-Ahmed.

dun1urkin · 17/05/2015 15:41

I have a vague memory of a house names thread that tickled me when pp were on about those awful Dun Roamin type names.
And I'd decided it was time to stop lurking and start posting. The 1 is because there was a thing about needing a number which might have been a misunderstanding on my part
I have NC once to post with a more appropriate name on an interesting thread about swearing.

Aermingers · 17/05/2015 15:43

14 hour delay and bitch cabin crew

Girlwithnotattoos · 17/05/2015 15:47

Vim a girl with no tattoos - simples :-)

Popchik9 · 17/05/2015 15:50

Mine is a dog in the book 'The Goldfinch'. I loved the book and Popchik the dog. I had to add a number to it though so maybe someone else has the name?

LikeIcan · 17/05/2015 15:51

Patti - I'm all intrigued now..... you little tease Grin

BlueBananas · 17/05/2015 15:51

I literally put 2 random words together that I hoped no-one else had as a NN already
