Not necessarily an aibu but it's Sunday, ergo fun day...

Over the years I've had many NNs which either described the situation I was in or a favourite quote from a book or film.

What's yours? And who has the best NN? (Hopes FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse turns up). My current NN came from a very trivial discussion I had with my friend over what I was making her for dinner and she said "You're making potatoes! Just fucking potatoes!?" And I replied with "Well yes, please appreciate the humble potato."

Does what it says on the tin: I entered several different cool or witty (honest) names, and kept getting told that they were already in use.

fattymcfatfat · 17/05/2015 22:55

run I sing that in my head every time I spot your name!

I'm actually quite pleased now Grin (I am a fan of maiden)

OrangeVase · 17/05/2015 23:28

I was sitting looking at my shelf, on which is an orange vase - and I liked it.

Have name changed several times and names have been inspired by:

a line from a favourite poem
a feature opposite my house
a translation of my surname in to a foreign language

Missed my middle two names as posted quite a lot but would have been recognizable if someone had done a bit of clever searching and I had reasons not to want to be.

Mine is from my posh friend's way of expressing shock or disbelief.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 17/05/2015 23:46

Joyful - it really is a fabulously evocative name. Puddles should be joyful. I remember a spectacular storm when I was at uni and my housemates and I went out and jumped in puddlesSmile I

CelibacyCakeAndFuckThePO · 17/05/2015 23:49

I was originally CelibacyCakeAndElevatorMuzac..

My take on Sex,.Drugs and Rock n Roll.

I felt it reflected my being very well.

Then I changed to ..FuckThePO after.a MN to-do (I have no idea what over, there was an awful lot of angst involved though)

britishbakeoffblues · 18/05/2015 00:22

I NC quite often worried I give too much away
GBBO had just finished and blue is ALWAYS in my NN. Favourite colour. ??

tiredvommachine · 18/05/2015 00:26

Was deep in the throes of severe morning sickness when I registered with MN.

Seemed apt Grin

GinBunny · 18/05/2015 00:37

I was reading a thread about going to the gym while drinking a G&T. And I have pet house rabbits.

Pixel · 18/05/2015 01:01

Nothing fancy about my name. I just happened to be reading Heinlein's 'The Cat who walked through walls', the cat of course being Pixel. Wish I'd known the poor thing was going to meet a tragic end though!

MrsBarryAllen · 18/05/2015 01:05

I may have a teeny tiny crush on The Flash from the new tv show. Blush

Pixel · 18/05/2015 01:07

Anyone who grew up with Monica Edwards books will know who Tamzin Grey is.

I've got my mum's 1957 hardback copy of Wish for a Pony (this one) from when she was little. It was always one of my favourites Smile.

toobreathless · 18/05/2015 01:52

Because thanks to a chronic lung disease I am...

I think the most exciting I got was my Xmas username 'toomerrytoobreathless' that took me about 3 days to think up!

CorporationPop · 18/05/2015 03:44

"Corporation Pop" or "Council Pop" is another name for tap water oop North Grin

Kerberos · 18/05/2015 07:26

Kerberos /?k?rb?r?s/ is a computer network authentication protocol which works on the basis of 'tickets' to allow nodes communicating over a non-secure network to prove their identity to one another in a secure manner.

It's also a word I find nice to say which is why it's my MN username. It comes up at work.

Apparently it's also an alternative spelling to Cerberus.

imonaplane · 18/05/2015 07:50

From 'Nevermind' by Nirvana.

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 18/05/2015 08:28

I started off as EmpressOfTheSevenOceans, one of my favourite books, then was Empress of various other things, & became EmpressOfJurisfiction in a nod to the fantastic Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde.

Nc recently as the previous one would have outted me and was a bit boring tbh.
This is a stereophonics song.

AuntyBatshit · 18/05/2015 09:27

I've just had a Christmas themed party for my birthday...tree and all. Enough said.

RosaliesGinBottle · 18/05/2015 14:31

Mine is Chalet School inspired. It's how I imagine the school secretary must cope with the timetabling challenges and plotholes. It's the name I post anything identifiable with, as I don't mind being outed as a lover of school stories as it's hardly a secret in RL Grin.
