Not necessarily an aibu but it's Sunday, ergo fun day...

Over the years I've had many NNs which either described the situation I was in or a favourite quote from a book or film.

What's yours? And who has the best NN? (Hopes FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse turns up). My current NN came from a very trivial discussion I had with my friend over what I was making her for dinner and she said "You're making potatoes! Just fucking potatoes!?" And I replied with "Well yes, please appreciate the humble potato."

HibernoCaledonian · 17/05/2015 16:27

Hephzibah I love that name. I loved Silas Marner. My NN years ago on a message board far, far away was Eppie_HC.

My NN derives from the fact that Im half Irish, half Scottish.

ValancyJane · 17/05/2015 16:28

It's the name of the main character in my absolute favourite book of all time (The Blue Castle by Lucy Maud Montgomery - any Anne/Emily fans who haven't read it, do so pronto!) :)

Jackieharris · 17/05/2015 16:35

Mines a major character from a huge tv show but people don't seem to recognise it and think it's an irl name.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 17/05/2015 16:38

Mine's an Eddie Izzard reference.

HibernoCaledonian · 17/05/2015 16:49

Used your NN sell loose meat sandwiches with her sister who the show was named after?

SideOrderofChips · 17/05/2015 16:49

Mine used to be JerseySpud. Mainly because i live in Jersey and we grow spuds.

HibernoCaledonian · 17/05/2015 16:50

Oops, that was for Jackieharris

KeepitDown · 17/05/2015 16:55

Chose it when I was going through a particularly rough time with hyperemesis, and also struggling with DH sex pest issues.

The nickname seemed relevant to both issues!

SomewhereIBelong · 17/05/2015 16:56

BlueBananas - Am disappointed - thought you shopped at the EMO shop blue banana

propelusagain · 17/05/2015 16:57

Unescorted · 17/05/2015 17:00

BolshierAyraStark · 17/05/2015 17:00

I've had a few MN names, my first was my fave but had to do a name change.
Current name is due to my love of GOT & the fact I am rather on the bolshy side...

Mine came to me in the shower one morning...no idea why (or at least, I can't remember why). Think I just liked the fact that something so mundane could be made into a fictional name.

Allinson2014 · 17/05/2015 17:05

My favourite name ever was Jesusinthecabbagevan I wish I had a name as inspired as that. I chose mine because I was putting the Allinson bread away when I signed up.

blankgaze · 17/05/2015 17:09

Mine's what I get or what I give when communication's gone out of the window.

Ermm, please take this gently BakerStreetSaxRift but it's riff, not rift.

I am honoured to be asked about my nickname in such talented company but do not fell worthy enough to join in.

propelusagain · 17/05/2015 17:18

Unescorted-- yes!.

Nanny0gg · 17/05/2015 17:19

I am a grandmother (known as Nanny) and Nanny Ogg is a character in the wonderful Discworld Books by my favourite of all time author, the late (sadly) Sir Terry Pratchett.

Easy choice.
