Without even trying I usually eat 10+ portions a day, I just can't think how anyone doesn't have at least 5 a day.

Today ive had
oats with kiwi and banana
Apple to snack
Chicken pasta with tomatoes, courgette, onion garlic peppers mushrooms (3 portions at least)
Greek salad tomatoes, cucumber, avocado Basil red onion

And now currently snacking on carrots and humous

I had 3 cups of coffee

Coffee is a bean so that must count

Strawberry jelly

So that definitely counts

A buttered scone with raisins in it

That counts

So that's 3

Some whiskey truffles

Chocolate is a bean so that counts

And red pepper pasta

So that counts

That's my 5

RufusTheReindeer · 15/05/2015 21:53

If I have a glass of wine that's like having a glass of grapes isn't it

motleymop · 15/05/2015 21:57

Oh lordy Lord! Woss all this about then. Ha ha ha! Why the FUCK would anyone post a thread like that!!!

RubyMay82 · 15/05/2015 21:58

I hate all this it's cheaper to eat healthy,

Bollocks it is.

Even cheap standard fruit & veg is getting expensive nowadays,
£1.50 for a tiny punnet of strawberries,
£2.50 for some grapes
£1.50 for some apples
£1 bag of rocket
£1.00 for some baby tomatoes,
Could go on but you get the idea.

By the time you've a decent salad & a good selection of fruit it's ££££

Being skint to me is buying a box of rice crispies, a loaf, milk & marge for less than a fiver that you could live on for 2-3 days!

Granted I do have a mainly healthy diet & eat loads of salad, fruit & veg but it definitely costs more !!!

Madeyemoodysmum · 15/05/2015 21:58

Today I had
Lunch bagel with cream cheese and salmon
Bowl raspberries mango and pomegranate

Snack choc bic and cake from cake sale at school

Dinner. Thai green curry and prawn crackers

Mini eggs and biscuit

I started well at least!

Velociraptor · 15/05/2015 21:59

I feel the need to post what I have eaten today, as this thread has coincided with a pretty spectacular day on the eating front for me.

For breakfast I had a snickers bar with a cup of tea, then a bacon roll. I then had a large slice of chocolate cake mid morning. After all that, I was far too full to want lunch.

For tea I had Mc Donalds. I did then come home and have a satsuma, as I felt bad about how much crap I have eaten today. That is worse than I usually manage, but probably not as out of the ordinary as I would like to think. Blush

CaptainHolt · 15/05/2015 22:00

Even if healthy food was cheaper, the volumes involved in eating 10 portions a day would push it into expensive, surely. That's a huge amount of food.

BellMcEnd · 15/05/2015 22:02

Well, hurrah for you!Hmm

Meanwhile, I'm having a lovely glass of wine and watching The Hunger Games. My word, it's a bit violent, isn't it? May have to a bit more Wine. Cheers everyone!

riverboat1 · 15/05/2015 22:02

I have my 5 most days, but other days (especially on holidays, days out, generally being out of my routine) I could have 0.

Today I had a smoothie for breakfast, courgette soup and a 3-bean wrap gor lunch and a marinated pepper salad as part of my evening meal.

But some days I might have a pain au chocolate for breakfast, a cheese sandwich for lunch and steak and chips for dinner.

So YABU, I think it's really easy to see how people can not get up to 5 a day every day,

TentUpFirstBunkUpLater · 15/05/2015 22:02

I had a cold chicken thigh at 08:00 and an almond croissant at 10:30.

Tonight I had chicken dhansak, chana bhuna with green chillis, tarka dahl, garlic and coriander naan and a chipati

Oh dear, how sad, never mind.

Charlotte3333 · 15/05/2015 22:04

I've just eaten a tube of Pringles. The whole tube. And used the empty tube to doink my 9 year old on the bottom as he sprinted from the room shouting "I caaaaaaaaaaaan't sleep, woman".

Also, best part of a bottle of prosecco has been taken. That's all my 5 a day and then some.

dougierose · 15/05/2015 22:05

Yup, wine and crisps!!

squoosh · 15/05/2015 22:06

10+ portions sounds like way too much food. How much roughage does your bumhole need?

Eltonjohnsflorist · 15/05/2015 22:07

Thing is OP I doubt you've always eaten like that and doubt you always will in the future. It's easy to be pious for that relatively short period of our lifetime we manage the perfect diet. Most people don't have a perfect diet for their 80 year lifetime

MrsBarryAllen · 15/05/2015 22:07

We try but frequently don't.

4 of us so that's 20 portions a day, 140 a week. Even if you buy in bulk and from somewhere cheap that's a lot of money.

You should buy yourself a bloody clue instead of an apple!

OhItsYouAgain · 15/05/2015 22:08

Breakfast - 2 toast with butter.
Lunch - veggie burger (deep fried so not sure it counts) with 2 pieces of lettuce and a tomato pip but no tomato!!!Confused
Tea - mushroom chow mein.
Snacks - 1 boost bar & a Lucozade
I think that adds up to 1 portion. Star

RaisingSteam · 15/05/2015 22:10

I don't really like fruit as much as Hob Nobs and can't be faffed peeling and chopping endless things. Today I've had numerous helpings of tea toast and biscuits, a tuna wrap, no proper dinner as DH unexpectedly late home and TBH at this time of night we will be lucky to manage an omelette. It's been a nightmare with children unexpectedly off school and a crisis at work I've had to sort out remotely plus dog walking.

If there's any stress in life diet is the first thing that goes for me.

Gabilan · 15/05/2015 22:13

One portion = 80g so if you're having 10+ portions a day that's 800g or the best part of a kilo of fruit and veg per day. That's quite impressive.

Unfortunately the whole 400g of fruit and veg per day is pretty much made up. Other countries recommend different amounts. Then there's the whole business of not eating too much fruit because it's sugary and all those rules about how no, you can't just munch a kilo of carrots because that would be BAD.

Honestly, just try eating different things and see what makes you feel healthiest, if you have the luxuries of time and money.

EnidSingsTheBlues · 15/05/2015 22:13

Started off with good intentions on Wednesday, took a pear, apple and orange to work. They are still in my bag. And going whiffy. Finished today with a chicken burger and a lettuce leaf.

WienerDiva · 15/05/2015 22:14

Op YABU because a Greek salad shouldn't have avocado in it and it should be feta. I know I've missed the point of the thread and have my first every Biscuit. It's made with hydrogenated fats and everything.

Allstoppedup · 15/05/2015 22:15

It appears the OP has gracefully left the thread, that or whilst reaching for her supper lychees she has been crushed beneath a fruit and veg avalanche from her pantry!

whatlifestylechoice · 15/05/2015 22:19

I had scrambled eggs and brown bread and butter for breakfast. I did manage to have a banana at lunchtime. Then some crisps. And I now have a glass of red wine and can't be arsed making dinner.

So, 1 portion? Or does the wine count? Grin

MrsGentlyBenevolent · 15/05/2015 22:20

With all that ruffage, wouldn't be suprised if the OP is on the controversial fart thread....

Sunny67 · 15/05/2015 22:23

Breakfast - fruit and fibre, glass of grape juice
Dinner- (here in Yorkshire )pork and apple sandwich yoghurt, grape juice
Tea -(Yorkshire ) salmon and leek pie green beans and grape juice
Bloody good stuff this Shiraz juice Wink

Theycallmemellowjello · 15/05/2015 22:24

Err if you work most people have toast or cerial for breakfast then a sandwich for lunch no? Leaving one meal to have full portions of veggies. Yes of course it's possible to make a lovely salad but in practice doesn't happen if you get in tired at 8 on the evening. Yabu and smug.
