to ask if anyone has had a psychic reading that was extremely accurate?

One that could not be down to cold reading. For example, giving out very specific details such as exact dates, unusual names, basically precise facts that cannot be fished for or guessed and are not vague?

Fackinell, and all others who are dealing with loss, my thoughts are with you.

Those badgering Fackinell, would you tell people they are fraudsters for being Catholic, or Muslim? After all, they take money on the pretence of offering things, ie salvation.

Now I think organised religion is a crock of shit way to control the mindless sheep but I keep that to myself usually. Agree to disagree, or move on.

Hulaflame · 10/05/2015 15:39

I've been going to see the same psychic for years - she's ninety percent accurate every time, with details very specific to me. She does cards and stones. Only usually makes sense after a year when I re-listen to the CD. She even told my mum I was pregnant and the correct gender a couple of hours before I rang my mum to tell her myself!

Thank you BigBumTheory, It's there if I need it but I'm taking the 'get on with it' approach. I don't like fussing or concern. As my mother says, I'm
always (bloody) fine when I'm asked anything!!

Thank you batmansunderpants

Puzzled, I guess I don't see it as something particularly special. I've always been like this. There are many other reputable people who do this in my area. I don't see me not as being any genuine loss to society.

To the poster who said about the murder victims (sorry, I'm cooking and have guests coming so losing track) the police often use psychics it's just not broadcasted too much.

The other post about making money, I never made much at all. I used to have a strict ten pounds rule max but I never would have turned away someone who couldn't pay. I now charge nothing if I read. They can pay me in wine if they wish. Grin
Anyone who does charge the earth probably isn't worth their salt. It's spiritual work, most genuine a dint feel able to charge or if they do it's very little.

KidLorneRoll · 10/05/2015 15:50

"the police often use psychics it's just not broadcasted too much."

No they don't. That's a well-debunked myth.

Placemarking. Will post reply when I get home cos I'm shit at posting on my phone

fackinell · 10/05/2015 15:52

Thank you Batman.

To a point there are stringent non exploitative guidelines in place for those 'claiming' to be psychic. It's called word of mouth. Most people won't be stung twice.

fackinell · 10/05/2015 15:53

Are you a police officer, Kidslorneroll?

ComposHatComesBack · 10/05/2015 15:54

There is no right or wrong here

Yes there is. Not all opinions are equal. Should we take the crackpot who claims the earth is made of Marzipan as being equal to that of the geologist? Do we consider David Icke's views on the world being run byby a cabal of Zionist lizard men as being worthy of serious consideration?

So in the context of supposed mediums do we believe they are using well known manipulation techniques that can be taught and have been repeatedly demonstrated by likes of Derren Brown

Or do we believe that there are people who can defy every single law of science to contact dead people and the dead talk through them and intervene in the world, but only to issue pointless platitudes or vague warnings?

Despite the fact there are overwhelming financial and moral incentives for any of the people who claim such powers to have them subject to proper scientific scrutiny, not a single one has chosen to do so?

Tangofandango · 10/05/2015 15:56

I went to a psychic a few years ago, withheld my number when I made the appointment, didn't give my name, she lived about 12 miles from me, and I said nothing throughout the reading.

She described my house as though she was inside it, down to decor and what various rooms were used for, she also described the journey leaving my house (a one-way system) and businesses that I pass. She described exactly what I do for a living and which room in the house I used for this.

She described a man I'd met on a recent holiday, exactly how we met, where he lived (80 miles away), his name, the age gap between us (17) years, and the fact that I was the older one. She described how I would travel to visit him every couple of weeks travelling by train instead of driving, and that he would drive to visit me.

There were many other things that she said would happen, which have, and there is no possible way she could have known any of it, as I said, I didn't say anything during the reading.

TalkinPeace · 10/05/2015 16:10

tango
Do you have a tape recording so that you can check all that?
And do you have video to prove that she was not watching your body movements to allow cold reading?
Are you on any social media?

frankie80 · 10/05/2015 16:12

My mother saw a psychic when we were teenagers. She was dragged along by a friend and was a total sceptic
However, the psychic accurately predicted my sister would live in america. that there was a faulty light in the house and a trophy my mum hated and had hid away. she also saw that my grandfather struggled to breathe.
Nothing was said about me though (as far as I know!)

BabyDubsEverywhere · 10/05/2015 16:23

I had an odd experience with a psychic once.

I have only ever seen one, we were having a girls night in, about 10 of us and thought it would be a laugh and something different so had a guy come to the house who did a tarot reading and a personal reading for each of us. I was last, everyone else was very pleased with the accuracy of it all, I thought it was just a bit of fun tbh. Lots of laughing coming from the room he was using with each of the other that went it.

When I went in he looked horrified, said I was surrounded by spirits that I refused to connect to, and prattled on about how I had such a strong gift and I shouldn't turn my back on it. He said he couldn't stay in the room with me as it was too loud for him. He wouldn't take my payment like the other girls, instead he gave me a pack of tarot cards and told me to use my gift...

I have bipolar and psychosis.
I see and hear people (amongst other things) all the time, I generally ignore it and take the meds. I've started using the tarot cards for fun with friends and family that ask, no payment of any kind.

They think I am really good with my readings, I think its fluke and say so, still a bit of fun though.

ashtrayheart · 10/05/2015 16:24

Tango did you give a false name? Otherwise I am struggling to see how you make an appointment without giving your name!

drudgetrudy · 10/05/2015 16:24

Fackinell don't regret posting-a lot of us are interested in your experience.

iHAVEtogetoutofhere · 10/05/2015 16:27

Thanks for your loss, fackinell

sliceofsoup · 10/05/2015 16:36

Not all opinions are equal.

And what? You are some kind of self-appointed moderator of opinions?

Get over yourself, frankly. We each lead different lives, and have different experiences which lead us to form the opinions we hold. You can have an opinion of an opinion, but that does not make you right.

You are missing my point spectacularly with your nonsense about marzipan. And David Icke might be a raving lunatic, but I have heard smarter people than me discussing him on here, and I am led to believe that some of the things he predicted and talked about have turned out to be accurate. I cannot wrap my head around lizard royalty, but that does not mean I cannot respect his right to think and talk about what he wants to.

KidLorneRoll · 10/05/2015 16:49

No, I'm not a police officer, but I know that the claim has been debunked time and again. Other than the police investigating information volunteered by psychics - which is not the same thing as you claimed - no police force in the uk makes use of mediums during investigations because, to be frank, that would be utterly absurd.

And, if you don't believe me, here is a massive list of police forces saying so:

DowntownFunk · 10/05/2015 16:58

I read a book by a guy who had premonitions in dreams years ago. It was called The Dream Detective. The forward was written by the police officer he worked with. He claimed to be the only "psychic" the police used. He was initially investigated as a terror suspect because his information was proving accurate.

I'll link to the book.

fackinell · 10/05/2015 17:11

Thanks for the lovely comments, I have guests round for dinner but will be back on later. Smile

KidLorneRoll · 10/05/2015 17:17

Ah yes, Chris Robinson. Strange that FOI requests have failed to confirm that the people he claimed to have worked with ever actually worked for the police in any capacity.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/05/2015 17:20

DowntownFunk A poster on skeptics.stackexchange.com contacted the Met to check on claims made by Chris Robinson about police he'd worked with

The reply contains this: Based on what you have been able to state, I have established with Metropolitan Police Heritage Centre that there is no trace for either of the officers

A bit suspicious, wouldn't you say??

DowntownFunk · 10/05/2015 17:23

Ooh I didn't know that! Maybe that's why his book is now out of print?
