Depends if your sex life is important to you!

I think it's dreadful but it's ?our choice obviously and doesn't really matter what everyone else thinks surely?

KnitFastDieWarm · 03/05/2015 16:56

Pre-Raphaelite = royal baby?Hmm

tootles off scratching head

loopinthep · 03/05/2015 16:58

Haha loop I did wonder if there was some well known connection that was going over my head! Grin

BigRedBall · 03/05/2015 17:06

Well loop, I suppose tasting like shit is infinitely better than looking like shit. I agree with you there.

Andrewofgg · 03/05/2015 17:07

They will think you are unhinged and they will be right. It is hideous. Sorry, but you asked!

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 03/05/2015 17:32

You might like Josephine Wall. In fact you've just inspired me to download one of her desktop wallpapers (I spent 5 years in art college making nerdy, monochrome and very very serious computer and video art Wink)

Congratulations on getting your first pad. Enjoy it to the full!

KurriKurri · 03/05/2015 17:36

Its your home, decorate it with the things you love that make you feel happy - who cares what other people think. I have very odd taste in art - I like very rough and ready things made out of chunks of wood, coconuts, fir cones etc and odd pottery. I've never even thought about whether anyone else likes it - if they come to my house and they hate it - they either keep their mouth shut or say so and I just say 'Oh I love it'.

Your picture is not my taste - but that artist is very popular so he must be to a lot of people's taste, and if you like him, then go for it, look at your picture in your new home and enjoy it.

squoosh · 03/05/2015 17:41

It's the kitschiest thing I've seen in an age and it's definitely not something I'd buy (or appreciate being given as a gift) but it's your home so you shouldn't care what other people think.

Certainly a bolder choice than a print from Ikea or some letters spelling out 'Home'.

Enjoy your new flat!

LadyDeadpool · 03/05/2015 17:44

Loop I have the feeling you're the sort of person too busy looking down their nose at others to realise how pathetic you are trying to sound posh. You poor thing maybe you could try harder next time and you'll finally succeed in feeling superior Smile

Icimoi · 03/05/2015 17:49

How about Tenniel, OP?

squoosh · 03/05/2015 17:49

I always think there's something vaguely sinister about Thomas Kinkade paintings. I'm always expecting to see a tiny evil face peering out of one of his 'charming' prints.

Chippednailvarnish · 03/05/2015 17:57

I prefer "Cats Playing Poker" personally, but its your house.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/05/2015 18:00

No on the contrary, Thomas Kinkade always has a crucifix/ cross (unsure which) somewhere in his pictures. Though I cannot find it in mine Confused
And he's the biggest selling live artist (I heard this on QVC, must be true)

Put it on the fire, not over it.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/05/2015 18:03

tethers I remember your "Quincy" portrait from a previous thread.
Did you request it or did your friend gift it to you?

mommathatwearspink · 03/05/2015 18:04

Each to their own I suppose, but I'm not keen to be honest,

squoosh · 03/05/2015 18:05

I've heard that too 70, Thomas Kinkade is big business. Maybe in years to come his prints will acquire the 'cool' status that Tretchikoff's (of Chinese Girl fame) have.

Maybe.

sisterofmercy · 03/05/2015 18:14

Put up the picture that you love and screw everyone else.

BigRedBall · 03/05/2015 18:50

ladydeadpool I got that impression too :). I bet s/he's as posh as Hyacinth Bucket.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 03/05/2015 19:43

Put it up. Surround it with kawaii babies. Get some onyx. And pink leather.

Own your kitsch.

blushingbooty · 03/05/2015 19:52

Your house is your home, you decorate it to suit you.

SaucyJack · 03/05/2015 19:57

YY to Waterhouse. I have a few prints of his paintings up. And Sandys' Morgan Le Fey. Also check out Bouguereau's cupids.

Still romantic and whimsical, but a bit classier* than that New-Age market stall stuff.

(Any modernist snobs sniggering at that can kiss my fat arse)
