I hope IABU.

To be fair, this is only based on the West Country (I do quite a lot of driving so I'm including Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset, bristol and bath). Driving around, I'd say the amount of stake boards and posters I've seen roughly represent these proportions:

Conservative: 60%
Green: 15%
UKIP: 15%
Lib dem: 8%
Labour: 2%

They have it sewn up, don't they? My mum is involved in politics and her prediction is a Tory/UKIP coalition Shock

If that happens I'm emigrating.

This is an interesting comparison of various seat predictions:

may2015.com/category/seat-calculator/

You need 326 seats to get a majority technically - but as they point out 323 would still be a workable majority.

Conservatives: 269 - 286 seats
Labour: 263 - 278 seats
Lib Dems: 24 - 28 seats
UKIP: 1 - 4 seats
SNP: 48 - 55 seats
Green: 1 seat
Other (basically NI and Wales): 20 - 22 seats

The betting is being placed on Miliband being the next PM as he has the most options for a coalition.

But the reality is, that the only combinations there which gets close to a majority are Labour/SNP which Miliband has ruled out OR a Conservative/LD/NI block.

Unless the polls and predictions are way out.

Also a Farage win in Thanet is not clear cut. If he doesn't win his seat then UKIP is a very different prospect.

Would Miliband throw away the chance of being PM by sticking to the promise of no SNP coalition if it was a possibility? Its a big question.

Also if Cameron does not secure a majority would he remain leader? Murdoch has questioned that assumption this weekend.

Its possible we could have a PM no one predicts by the end of May!

www.electionforecast.co.uk/

This site is v good too, especially the vote share prediction for each constituency (its below the map on the tabs).

They are predicting 1% in it in my Constituency. So definitely worth voting here.

CrystalCove · 27/04/2015 13:21

I'm in Scotland where it's predicted there will be a lot of Labour MPs losing their seat. Certainly by unofficial poll there are a lot less Labour signs in people windows. In fact I haven't seen any!

richthegreatcornholio · 27/04/2015 13:28

If it's labour im off. Along with many other high rate tax payers. Good luck.

I'm with you. Leave all the scum to their nasty socialist shithole:

JohnFarleysRuskin · 27/04/2015 13:31

My prediction (from the SE) is same again. Con plus lib dem.
I feel labour have lost their core voters but fear of ukip will cause a swing to cons.

londonrach · 27/04/2015 13:37

I think it be either a lab/sdp or a tory/lib. No way do i think any party will mix with ukip. Also dont think its a sure thing. Its very close.....

londonrach · 27/04/2015 13:39

Just out of interest have any of the party leaders lost a seat in an election as i believe cleggs not that secure. If thats the case what happens as the leader cant be in charge without a seat.

JohnFarleysRuskin · 27/04/2015 13:40

Fear of lab/sdp will, I feel, also cause a Tory surge.

Erudite · 27/04/2015 13:53

IF Miliband does a deal with Sturgeon he knows it will be the last time Labour hold power for years.

Time will show how important 5 years of power is to him.

BreakingDad77 · 27/04/2015 14:16

There will be a coalition of some sort, wether its lab/SNP/green or tory/UKIP.

I think liberals will be decimated with green protest votes.

JohnFarleysRuskin · 27/04/2015 14:41

We need a betting thread...

Anniegetyourgun · 27/04/2015 14:43

For those who've stated that if x or y/z win they will leave the country, may I ask where you had in mind to move to, and why? (Not why you're emigrating, we've covered that bit, but why the place you move to would appeal.) Or should that be another thread?

mummymeister · 27/04/2015 14:44

Minibland may have ruled out a coalition with the SNP but does anyone believe this? Nick Clegg ruled out a rise in tuition fees, he went along with it. when the votes are in make no mistakes everything is up for grabs because everyone in politics wants power. the politics at the moment are bland tinkerings. no real big game changing policies or really big radical ideas. I like radical politics not posh boys - and I include minibland in this - telling me about hard working families and what they want. I want someone to come up with some really ground breaking game changing ideas whether on the left or the right. everyone seems so intent on the centre ground they have forgotten about the blue skies thinking.

Tiredemma · 27/04/2015 14:52

I fear a Lab/SNP Coalition.

It will decimate any credibility that Labour has. Just how it has decimated the LibDems and their 'lie in' with the Tories.

I am a Labour voter but this is not a good move for the country.

Anniegetyourgun · 27/04/2015 14:53

Groundbreaking? Do you mean fracking? ;)

The only really radical party are the Greens. Whether their policies are practicable is another question.

BabyGanoush · 27/04/2015 14:59

If Labour go together with SNP, they will rule for the term, but be unelectable after that.

I hope Tory Lib-Dem can continue

Anniegetyourgun · 27/04/2015 15:01

Surely the best way of avoiding undue influence by SNP is to ensure Labour have enough of a majority not to be dependent on their support? If they are the largest minority the Lib Dems should swing in behind them, then all Nicola's cohorts have to do is not be unnecessarily obstructive and you've got a workable government.

YouBetterWerk · 27/04/2015 15:02

Another one saving their seat on the boat out of here if Con/UKIP coalition.
I can live with your mum

Viviennemary · 27/04/2015 15:05

I thought it was Labour and SNP together had it wrapped up. Let's face it everyone one of them would get into bed with the devil himself if it meant they could be in power.

AlpacaLypse · 27/04/2015 15:16

As a small business owner I'm petrified of losing the recovery. In the past year I've been able to raise everyone's pay to not less than the Living wage, and I started another new worker today, I've now got three times as many staff employed as I did eighteen months ago.

I do think the Tories have more economic credibility than any of the others, including the Greens, which is the party I am most attracted to on all other counts.

jossiesGiants1 · 27/04/2015 15:17

Labour wont form a formal coalition with SNP, but will sign up to a deal-by–deal agreement. They have similar views regarding the Bedroom tax, top-rate of income tax etc… This is why Ed Milliband will be the next PM.
The SNP’s can’t vote against the first Labour Budget because it will effectively mean they are siding up with David Cameron, which would be the end of the SNP’s.

SNP may try and vote against Trident and a number of other core Labour promises but as the Tories support Trident I don’t see how the SNP’s can defeat the government.

The Tory’s only have a possible con/Lib coalition to work with, and it’s by no means a certainty that the Liberals will enter into that again.

UKIP will hold no power as they will have a maximum 4 MP’s not enough to enter into any negotiations.

Viviennemary · 27/04/2015 15:33

I heard on TV at the weekend somebody saying that there would be a problem if Labour had less seats than the Tories. And would they (Labour) legitimately be able to form a government unless they were in a formal coalition with another party giving an overall majority.

AuntieStella · 27/04/2015 15:37

m.oddschecker.com/t/politics/british-politics/next-uk-general-election/most-seats

Bookies still have Tories as winning most seats.

If boundaries weren't skewed in Labour's favour, then they'd be heading for a win.

BudsBeginingSpringinSight · 27/04/2015 15:38

I heard on R4 that Labour are something like 4 points ahead and the tories would be hard pushed to turn this round in the next 10 days

where is david cameron? he is a lost cause isnt he? all we hear about is ukip and sturgoen and all we see is millband, where is cameron?
